Ah, today. I'm taking a much needed break from school. Finals are next week though so I'm nervous.
Got a few text messages from Jeremy last night. I replied to a few of them enough to answer, but that's it. I can't say I'm much up for small talk with him, especially through text messaging. If he wants to be my friend, he'll call. I've grown to have a strong distaste for cell phone messaging. It's like the easy way out for contact. Oh well. I can't say I'm not guilty at times.
Today I made some sort of soup for a Hispanic Food Celebration and it took too long to make so I didn't get to bring it there. But I still made it. It's okay. It looks like vomit, quite honestly, but it tastes okay, just a little spicy. I only attempted to burn myself and my dad twice and the soup took a lot of work, so I'd say I fared pretty well (I'm no chef, I'm a terrible cook quite frankly so I'm pretty proud). I just hope my stomache doesn't react poorly to it :) But anyway, after I get off work tonight, I have no problem bringing this Mexican dish so that we can chow. As long as you can get past the look of the food, you might like it! I think it's called Aztec Soup or something like that. I have PLENTY so please eat it so I didn't waste my $12 at the grocery because my family does not generally like anything Mexican.
Oh!! I got $750 to study in Cost Rica this summer. Hopefully I'll receive more money, because I need it desparately. If all else fails I'll take out a loan at the bank, but I'd rather not. Maybe that's what I'll do for the next three hours, I'll go on fastweb.com and see what scholarships I can get. Hopefully a few. Keep me in your prayers. Money has not been on my side lately. I had to shell out $300 to get my routers and brake pads replaced yesterday because they were messed up. Of course, what isn't messed up on my only-three-years-old car? And I guess I didn't really shell out that money. I had to charge it, so I'll be shelling out more because of interest eventually. So if your Christams gifts are scarce this year, that's why. I still love all of you. Please be patient with me.
Another thing. My grandma said that people are trying to call Christmas trees "Holiday trees" now to be politically correct. However, a Christmas tree is a tree in celebration of Christams. It's not a decoration for Hannakuh or any other holiday. Christmas. The day we chose to celebrate Christ's birth. If you'd rather not celebrate Christ's birth, then don't buy a CHRISTMAS tree. Buy a (oh goodness here goes my spelling) Yammakuh and a Dradle, or if your atheist, decorate with candy canes and Santa Claus and whatever else. No one is forcing you to buy a CHRISTmas tree, so drop the subject. I hate that those who are not Christians are allowed to raise such a fuss over everything that is Christian-related. But right now, it's life here. My grandma said Home Depot finally changed the sign back to "Christmas Trees" after much protesting, so at least there are people out there who are willing to stand up. Thank you.
