BioI was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, by the name of Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, 27 years ago and I'm a singer as well as a songwriter.
As the youngest of the children of Nidia Ripoll and William Mebarak I grew up as a happy child surrounded by my siblings: Alberto, Eduardo, Moises, Tonino, Ana, Lucia, Patricia and Robin.
I began my singing career at the age of 13 when I released my first album "Magia" (Magic) and then at 15 years old came "Peligro" (Danger), then came "Pies delcalzos" (Bare feet) and "¿Donde estan los ladrones?" (Where are the thieves?) then came the "MTV Unplugged" and later on 2001 my crossover to the English-speaking music market with the album "Laundry Service".
2004 finds me working in Miami on my new spanish album that will be released soon.
