so mid-term week has extended itself to two weeks apparently, for some of my intructors. thats nice. i feel like the only person around here that is completely overwelmed with my work load. could be the 22 hours of classes a week, the 20-25 hours i put into work, not to mention lab time. or reading. jesus i have read more books in the past week than i can wrap my head around. i wrote three papers for my philosophy class last night and the one on Immanuel Kant took me nearly four hours. that guy is a bastard, i don't recommend him. the sad thing is i haven't had the time for anything i want to do personally, artistically. i am making some things i'm liking, but i want to use all the equipment i just received, but there is little time. man i feel like i'm bitching about things, and these past couple weeks have been pretty awful, though things have turned around these past few days.
also, not to brag but about a week ago my color science teacher had mentioned some local photographer was getting rid of his entire darkroom, and wanted to give it away to a ringling photo major. i called the guy instantly and he said i could have it all for free as long as i took all of it. my parents came into town, we donated our hide-a-bed couch in the living room and filled it with three truck loads of equipment. it has taken me days to sort through everything and i don't think i've been as excited about anything this much in ages. i gave up a few pieces that were broken or completely outdated and hopeless, luckily everything i was really excited about works amazingly. the list has come to this:
-dryall drying cabinet
-afga pcr II (converts digital files into b&w negatives)
-beseler enlarger (!!)
-a soft light head
-beseler deluxe dual mode slide duplicator
w/ nikon dw3 head
-around 30 boxes of paper (kodak, ilford/all tones, surfaces, and sizes)
-around 20, 25 packs of paper
-16 light tight boxes filled with unused paper
-safelight, easels, chemicals, filters, marshall oils, timers, tanks, reels, glass, color reversal film, other films, and everything you need to develop.
so. things could be worse. just sucks that friday nights are more or less the only time i have to do whatever. so i think i'm gonna drag everything into by bathroom again and work until i absolutely have to sleep.
