I agree with Sarn and Synara

You know the best thing about a laptop....
Warm fingers !
Really important when you live in Berlin in the winter, with no central heating
Minus 9 at night, minus 3 at mid-day....
How nice to have your overheated-CPU right under your fingertips
Just like an ice-pop on a August afternoon (inverted) Tue, Mar. 8th, 2005, 10:58 pm
Long time, no entry....
Well, we're still here in Berlin - and it's still great.
Like Logans Run with Jenny Agutter Fri, May. 21st, 2004, 09:06 pm Pink Finger
Allegedly, when Mr Flemming wanted to call his arch-baddy 'Pink-Finger' he was turned down on the grounds that 'Pink-Fingers are insufficiently distinctive'.
Try telling that to Flat Hand Matt....
I rest my case, said the man with excessive baggage. Fri, May. 21st, 2004, 08:55 pm Kate Beckin Sale

Thursday:
Howard Force arrived on schedule, and delivered our tent-palace for the incoming festival season - See photo on previous 'Box of Stuff' thread. Really overdid the alchohol - mental note - don't drink too excessively on night one. Ended up going out to The Last Cathedral goth bar at about 2.00am.
Friday:
Did some goth shops. Sarn bought an uber-shiny pair of thigh-length black patent buckle boots at XtraX. Saw the 'original' Trojan Horse (from the Troy movie) outside the mega-futuristic Sony Centre cinema complex. One day before Brad Pitt's Arrival in Berlin - whoo! Went to Station-to-Station, which is Berlin's answer to Slimelight - very packed - and free entry! Danced to some old faves like Red Right Hand and Venus In Furs. Got home about 6 am, and had some beers on our roof terrace which felt kinda sophisticated.
Saturday:
Met up with Mike and Janina at the Pfeferberg - or Titty Twister as we call it - it's a columned mexican-style courtyard type place - very mellow. Then on to a disturbingly orange bar on our street corner, which was very 70's retro and the music got progressively more soul, until we couldn't stand it anymore, and we popped next door for Lara's 3 euro pizza sensation. Traditional George Lucas 'looks like a stormtrooper to me' litigation conversation. More fun with Hat Mouse followed - including the dancing toilet roll episode.
Sunday:
A very busy day. Went to the doppelzimmer art exhibition, and toured the Zionkirche where we found a minature landscape under the floorboards - Howard - can you put up a link to your movie? - then took H7000 to Sansouci Park for a culture overload. Had some beers outside the New Palace, and also in the Dragon House pagoda. Then back to central Berlin for an Indian meal and a few last drinks at The Last Cathedral, thus rounding off a hectic weekend of cultural excess. With hilarious consequences....
Now must get ready for Cannes Film Festival this weekend. Wed, May. 5th, 2004, 12:43 am Box of Stuff
Box of Stuff for sale.
Could be anything.
Tenner the lot.
Buyer collects.
Two thoughts promt this post:
1. just spoken to prawnstar about howard force
2. our local cinema has a weekly 'Cinesneek'
This is when you pays your entry price and you go to see a MYSTERY MOVIE !
Could be anything.
Speaking of which, They have a funny lot of age certificates for movies.
My favorite is 6+.
Snorkels at the ready,
Salmon and trout,
Carry on up the Cyber, as the glow-stick said to Kenneth Branagh wearing a Ferrari tennis racket on a soiled white lycra sleeve.

Noughty night. Sun, May. 2nd, 2004, 10:30 pm All Louise and no Thelma
All Louise and no Thelma,
Well, you can't have it both ways, as the squirrel said to the spider monkey.
After all, Lolo Ferarri wasn't buried in Silicone Valley was She.
So we've endured Berlin's May Day Riots.
This means very loud, very low helicopters RIGHT over our flat and roof terrace ALL weekend. It's hard to sleep with a 5000 Watt search light on your bedroom window.
Perhaps Synara should't have been such a naughty g*rl !
The city has been plusitevly swamp_ing with police in hi-tech-cyber riot gear.
The plus side of this is lots of pony-tail policettes in designer riot-wear, strutting around the city being all 'Barbie-Cop' - I'm sure they're are only there for aesthetic reasons ;)
On a very different pod, dissident even:
Went to Sanssouci Park. Wow!
Probably - very probably - the best park in Europe !
No small claim (said the squid to the huge shell-fish with an anasthetic lisp)
Literally overflowing with palaces, follies, ruins.
Can't think of anywhere in Europe comp_rable, apart from the Forum in Rome.

1. We've just had a 20 hour theatre performance in our street called 'Goethes Berlin'. All very well, but gets a bit annoying when you're just trying to buy some booze and some 'thespian' type is harassing you with pink rubber washing up gloves.
2. Found a pile of 3 inch rubber sharks outside our flat last night.
3. 'Our local offie' continued : Our local offie has a VERY good stereo - you know it's a posh one cause (a) it's got fuck-off gold valves sticking out the top and (b) there's separate amp blocks for the left and right channels. Another notable feature is Darth Vader's tie flighter (alas, action figure size only) but highly desirable none-the-less.
4. We now have an elephant grave in our street. With candles and flowers and everything. This is quite strange.
5. There is a pen-knife dispensing machine outside our house - actually ON the wall of our house. This also seems odd.
6. Apologies to everyone that we haven't got back to yet - we have erratic internet access, and we keep slipping behind on correspondence. Big HELLOS to everyone, especially in Brighton!
7. Big hugs also go out to the London massive! Sat, Apr. 17th, 2004, 11:42 pm Just like the 'B' in subtle....
....
and all this from an artist who thought 'Enigmatic' was a Black-and-Decker power tool Thu, Apr. 15th, 2004, 10:25 pm Live Nudes!
Our local off-licence is called LIVE NUDES.
It even has a big flashing neon sign.
Apart from the sign, it looks much more like a cash point machine.
You get served on the street through a hole in the wall, while other customers prod you with their bicycles.
Must be a quaint Germanic custom. Thu, Apr. 15th, 2004, 10:09 pm Mimbo loves it.
Yesterday we saw a biker on his custom-trike. No engine, instead he was being pulled along by a team of six huskies. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me.
Berlin is very laid back. I keep thinking why aren't there any traffic jams ? why isn't anyone in a hurry ? I guess if things work properly it takes the pressure off day-to-day living.
Life is just more leisurely over here, and everthing happens later – so you get used to having breakfeast at midday, and staying up to 4am most nights.
Enjoying living in a sportswear-free city. Mimbo loves it.
Been to quite a few gigs and clubs. Loved Eve Of Destiny from Japan. A bit like London After Midnight with Ross Williams on vocals. Their gutarist (also in Malice Miser) reminded me of our very own Mr Paul Five. But our P5 is more of a Rolling Stone I guess :)
It's already hot here, and all the bars open out onto the streets – no last orders – whahey!
Our street is old and cobbled – with dramatic church bells every midday and sundown.
We have adopted a bat called Sneaky Beaky.
This is a bloody coherent posting – I must be sleepy!
Red wine beckons.
Ciao,
Sa_Sy Thu, Apr. 8th, 2004, 02:33 am We came in peace, Shoot to Bill
We came in peace, Shoot to Bill, like Uma Thurman with an SS20 strap-on.
Yellow turns black in exciting episode two – but she still looked foxier in Plump Friction.
Sadam on the rocks, baby.
Woz thinking about Brighon, and Berlin.
A chronoligical transition, if you like.
Brighton – Hove. East–West, yes – but never a wall.
Nevertheless, in some ways East / West Berlin mirrors Brighton / Hove.
But my Berlin / Brighton difference summary might include (on a rainy day with a Y in it):
More trees / More sea More sun / More wind Much bigger / Much less big More German / More English More sausages / More fish'n'chips Wider streets / More traffic More anarchic / More trendy Very cool / Also very cool
More exciting comparisons to follow - wahey!
Soul & trout (Norweigen rhyming slang for 'Retune 'ya Kippa'),
Lots ov love,
I'm Sparticus & The Elory Queen Who Done It - theme tune on demand.
GGGGGG Mon, Apr. 5th, 2004, 10:11 pm Snorkel Hoff has landed !
Hiya!
Or Hiza! As this Germanic kezboard would saz.
Well, we're happilz installed here in Berlin.
Our new home is 400 meters East of the (former) Berlin wall.
Having a shamefullz frolicking good time.
Was an bitch getting on-line at home though.
Finallz sorted it out – now on German modem number 3.
Did zou know that there's important differences beteen an RJ-11 and RJ12 internet cabel, and between a TEA F and a TEA N phone socket. We didn't.
So if zou're planning a trip to Europe and zou think zou'll need the internet, ask us for some hard-earned telecoms advice before zou leave the UK.
As said, Berlin is totallz FAB, and there's an insane amount on offer – the main problem being what to choose to do. Always missing something.
Probablz going to a nearbze goth club called 'Orlog-Dunker' later tonight.
There's two (!) free monthly (yay, finally found the 'Y'!) listings magazines just for goth clubs and events in the city.
More soon,
(Like a monsoon but drier, and with a promise of plenty),

KUNT-A-BUNT ! It's a ceramics store - of course, what else could it possibly be? Thu, Mar. 11th, 2004, 02:11 pm Back in the UK for a few days....
Just to say that we're back from Berlin for a few days - driving back to Germany next week.
Will be at NIGHTSHADE (Brighton) tomorrow (Friday) night.
Here's the full spec:
Synara will be DJ'ing at the club as usual, and also DJ'ing the pre-club gig by BELISHA and Brighton's fabulous SWARF.
Also on the club-decks will be DJ's Silo, Zombie & Kieran, plus special guest DJ Dani Filth (from CRADLE OF FILTH)
Hope to see most of you down there :)
Ciao xxxx Thu, Mar. 11th, 2004, 02:06 pm Is there a FREE date with Jordan in this Cornish Pasty?
Saw a crisp packet today that asked:
Is there a FREE car in this packet ?
The answer must surely be: No there isn't.
But it's a clever form of advertising.
You can apply it to anything.
Is there a FREE Submarine in this Banana?
The beauty of this is that the product manufacturer is simply asking a question.
Is there a FREE Captain Nemo in this LJ post? You decide. Mon, Mar. 1st, 2004, 12:41 am weekend manoevers
had a great night on friday.
got to the Dev late, met up with our Prawnstar
also very good to see Andy & Katrina down there
eventually got to the WaterRats for a great gig - good crowd, party atmosphere
sadly missed the first two bands, but enjoyed Dev Pres & Deathboy
'interesting' journey home - photos to follow maybe....
passed out after half a glass of wine on reaching Paul 5 HQ.
sat - overcame *chronic* hangover - and finished the Synthetic 'Footstamper' Remix of Libitina's Shibboleth, which is really quite something :)
watched the brilliant new Angelena Jollie: Tomb Raider masterpiece
spent about 2 hours trying to make the DVD player work for Underworld - no joy :(
then on sunday we continued to vid-out on the supurb Still Crazy, and Zoolander which is a Synthetic speciality - complete with the delicious Milla Jovovich dressed as a fetish nurse....
Off to Berlin tomorrow,
Lots of love to Paul & Sarah, Prawnstar, and all our friends,
