I was watching an old episode of Family Feud on the Game Show Network and one of the survey questions was:

"When a woman goes on a shopping spree, where does she hide the purchases from her husband?"

Although, I appreciate the acknowledgment that men can be feminists, I agree that Obama is probably not the man to represent that notion (see http://feministlawprofs.law.sc.edu/?p=4565). And I also dislike the superman imagery of Obama coming to save feminists and feminism. We can't do it on our own. And Obama just saying he's a feminist is going to save the cause.

I deactivated my facebook account half a year ago because it annoyed me. And now I started a twitter account...let's see how I like this...

Katy Perry's "Hot 'N Cold" lyrics state, "you PMS like a bitch. I would know." The radio edited version states, "you PMS like a chick. I would know."

To me, that alteration seems sexist, whereas the original lyrics do not. The way PMSing like a bitch is used in the song, it seems to be an insult. That's fine. It's not saying that all PMSing is bad, or even that all women PMS. Just that PMSing like someone, who by definition is not very nice, is annoying/obnoxious.

But, the edited version changes this lyrical insult to imply that all women PMS and that all PMSing is bad. It's sad to me that in order to remove the word "bitch" the integrity of the song has been compromised and it now has a tinge of sexism. The message seems to have changed from 'you're annoying like a bitch who is pmsing' to 'you're annoying like women are 2-7 days out of every month.'

I cannot believe the horrendous animal abuse that Michael Vick (of the Atlanta Falcons) is accused of committing. He was indicted on 2 felony counts and I hope he gets the maximum sentence and loses his contract and has a horrible rest of his life.
