Just had this weird moment where I was looking out the window at the trees and everything seemed to freeze for a second, like the world was lagging the way my computer screen sometimes can. That was weird. Maybe I should sleep more.
So I actually have a Twitter account now and I understand it even less.
I realized that a lot of writers/creators I like do frequent Twitter updates, Neil specifically but a lot of others, so I figured I'd sign up and follow them to read their updates. I've made a couple posts myself but nothing that's exactly interesting or informative.
And yet, random people follow me. I don't get it. Is it just because I'm following people they like? Do they follow random people in hopes of an automatic follow back so their number is inflated? It's weird. Though I was cracking up when I got a "stephen fry wants to follow you" message via e-mail. Oh and the random girl flirting with Warren Ellis who asked him how he got so many followers, and he pointed out that most of them probably know him from his other gig as a comics writer, and she was like "o i'm embarrassed now, will have to look u up" or some shit. Social networking is hilarious.

After that poet lady started talking, I became convinced that they needed to get Henry Rollins to deliver the inaugural poem. Then I couldn't stop thinking about that and got really annoyed that she kept talking, heh.
Oh well, new president, hooray! This is what it feels like to not be embarrassed by your president and interested in listening to him speak for more than potential sources of mockery. Odd.

aaaahhh why do I have so many clothes when I just wear the same week or two worth of things anyway.
I had a dream this morning that I met
tapedeck and her guy and some random LJ women I didn't know at someone's wedding reception or something like that. I think it was a wedding reception because there were lots of round tables with tacky tablecloths and centerpieces and dim lighting and music. Maybe it was a high school dance. Either way, it was really weird.
tapedeck looked gorgeous though.
It snowed sometime last night but today it's just cold and misty and rainy. Not nearly as good as snow. I thought the snow might stick and it would be odd because when I went to get my hair cut last winter before Christmas, I had to trudge through piles of snow, and I'm going to get my hair cut tonight.
Also I'm happy because I got my friends to skip sharing Christmas gifts and instead make a group donation to http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ in the form of sending an Xbox 360 and LEGO Batman to a children's hospital that looked like it wasn't getting too many donations.
Oh and things in WoW are going along okay. I stopped in Storm Peaks last night after the raid to pick up an item for the new shoulder armor I got (finally!) and decided to do a quest in this random village that gives you a reward bag that has a 0.1% chance to contain a polar bear mount, since I was passing by. And I got the mount! Polar beeeeeaaaaar!

The idea of wanting to watch the President speak because I'm interested in what he'll say and how he'll say it, as opposed to not being interested or just watching to make fun of him or wait for him to screw up, is really strange to me.
When I first started hearing about the candidates that the Democrats were putting forward I was pissed off, I felt like they were throwing away the election before it even started because this country still wasn't ready to elect a woman or a black man. Never been happier to be proven wrong.
P.S. I wonder what the First Puppy will be named.

Hah. So, there's a world event going on in WoW, as a precursor to the new expansion next month, which involves going to a new continent and fighting a lot of undead thing and their king and so forth.
Suspicious Crates appeared at one of the neutral port cities. People who try to open them become infected with a disease and turn into ZOMBIES. The disease can then be spread.
It's actually hilarious, sort of playing out the way all the accidental outbreaks of player-transmitted boss abilities have happened in the past. People trying to get infected and take the plague to city leaders, infecting the auction houses and bankers, the populations of low-level towns... As a zombie you're kill-on-sight for all town guards, even your own towns, as well as being able to attack other players of either faction.

- Mangle! - Increases your next attack by 20 damage and reduces the target's armor by 3%.
- Retch! - Retch on the ground! Humanoids in it are slowed and infected. Zombies in it are healed.
- Lurch! - You and nearby zombies gain a temporary burst of speed, to help catch your food. Removes any move impairment or crowd control effect.
- Beckoning Groan - Beckon up to four zombies to you. They must not be in combat.
- Zombie Explosion! - Burst into pieces, destroying yourself but infecting those around you.
Hey, question for you cosplay and doll-making types.
I'm making a stuffed animal out of this white fleece stuff and I need to give it like pink blush cheeks. I thought about using actual makeup but (1) I don't think I own blush and (2) I don't want it to smudge all over. So now I'm thinking like dilute some water-based paint and cotton-ball it on. But I don't want it to be like scratchy to the touch. Recommendations?

Aaaaghh I spent half of today looking at jobs and apartments and such in other places that I'm not going to because I can't afford to just randomly go somewhere. Urge to go back to school rising again. However the oppositional force of not wanting to go even more into debt is pretty much enough to counter it and so here I am. My job skills are too goddamn specialized.
With birthday money from my parents I bought expensive lavender-with-silver-glitter eyeshadow and a brush to apply it with. It's a bit silly but it makes me happy to have it. Reminds me of some sort of fairy dust in its little silver jar. I want to get another, more obnoxious color now, but I'm not sure what would look good. Something green is what I think I want.
I keep having the urge to go to that karaoke place. What the fuck.
Also, that sunburn I mentioned last time? Second degree burns. THIS IS WHY I DO NOT GO OUTSIDE.

I am way WAY too excited about the new inscription profession that is going to be added to WoW in the next expansion. There's almost zero useful info in the alpha build yet, but what there is makes me giddy. Grinding up herbs to make inks, scrolls, magical writing to modify your spells or do random aesthetic effects... best profession ever?? Fuck enchanting, I'm glad I've kept useless mining on my warlock all this time! My plan is to drop mining for herbalism right before the expansion, then gather herbs while leveling to 80, and drop herbalism at 80 to power level inscription. My druid can once again be my herb-picking bitch once I have time to level him up too.
P.S. We killed Brutallus, finally, hooray! Now to kill Felmyst for our first server-first since fucking Hydross and Lurker last year... I did this wacky affliction/ruin spec for the 5% less damage debuff and it was actually way more fun and challenging than my usual "stand still and hit 4 a lot in rapid succession" spec. Less damage output but much harder to do well. /flex
P.P.S. I went kayaking on Saturday and somehow forgot to put sunscreen on my calves and OH GOD IT HURTS.
