When in your life did you feel the most alone?
This question is an easy one for Lee Adama to answer. There has only been one time when he felt the most alone in his whole life, it was the time when his best friend abandoned him and his father was lying on a table fighting for his life. His blue eyes slide close as the memories wash over him and the reality of the now is swept away in favour of the past.

Sheer and utter emptiness had been the first thing to greet Lee when Starbuck had jumped away. Jumped away to chase after Apollo's arrow and then his father's decision to remove the President from power had forcibly swept those feelings aside to be replaced by something else. Something else that Lee couldn't seem to define until he had stepped away from Tigh and he had lifted his gun.
And then hurt, pain and rejection overwhelmed Lee and he could only stand silent and listen on as his father spoke with Boomer. Then something else had replaced the hurt, pain and rejection. Panic had swarmed over him and he had bolted forward, his hands clutching almost desperately at his father. His voice had been loud, ever so loud, as if shouting would somehow keep his father in the present and keep him from teetering over the edge.
Blood had covered his hand, the same hand that desperately tried to staunch the free flow of his father's blood. He could still remember the pleas he had uttered over and over, repeating them until his father understood. He never wanted to see his father like that again, could never again watch on as the man he called father died in front of him.
The memory takes him back to another time, another time when he had to watch something similar. The fear of that happening again swept over him like a tidal wave and he couldn't stop the tears, they coursed over his cheeks. Each one more desperate than the last. The events seem to blur into one as his father had been taken out from under him and had been taken to the infirmary. Lee hadn't been able to move, hadn't been able to breathe and hadn't been able to think.
As he had watched people hurry to bring his father back from the brink and had looked to the blood on his hands, he had felt the most alone in his whole life. Kara wasn't there, his father was dying and all he had was the blood on his hands and the tears on his face.

That moment right then was the most alone that Lee Adama has ever felt. The moment when he realised that the people he held closest and dearest to his heart where no longer there and he was completely and utterly alone.
