Spiced Oatmeal Raisin Cookies with Applesauce

Both my cousin and my father have developed diabetes in recent years. My cousin seems to be adhering to his diet more than my father, so I hunted around for a yummy recipe to take to the family. (I've been loading them up with baked goods, most of which my cousin can't eat.) The recipe site was linked in the comments to an entry in this community. As I had (almost) all the ingredients for this recipe, I adapted it and I have to say I'm rather pleased. These oatmeal raisin cookies came out wonderfully cakey and, after discovering the wonders of spiced oatmeal raisin cookies, I don't think I'll ever make oatmeal cookies without the spices. Yay! The nutritional information is included with the original recipe, and it may be slightly different since I made a couple substitutions. I hope these fit into my cousin's diet! I made a double batch so I could freeze some for the next time I see my dad, too.

a barrel of questions
Hello to all you moleskine users! I loveandadore my moleskine, however, last night I realized that the black leather has completely come away from the paper. Everything is still intact and I think I managed to fix it (for now). This happen to anyone else? Is it normal? Because no matter how much I love the journal, not exactly worth the $22 for something that, forty pages to the end, will end up falling apart.
And, as I am almost finished this journal, anyone have any journals that they abslolutely love?  I might give the moleskine another chance, but just in case...
One more: I've been in Quebec for the last six weeks, and saving everything that I can find. How have you that have travelled managed the things for journalling? Created a new journal? Mix them into your daily journal?

Thanks for giving time! Keep up the amazing journalling. You guys are soooo inspiring!!

Recycled Magazine Picture Frame
Hi everyone!
Does anyone know how to make a recycled magazine picture frame?
(Like this one: http://www.outblush.com/women/images/2008/05/recycled-magazine-picture-frame.jpg)
My friend's birthday is coming up and I really want to make one for her, but I can't figure out how to get the magazine page that tightly wound.
If anyone's had any experience with it, or ideas on how to do it, that would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Earring/necklace newbie- follow-up questions
Thanks to all those who posted wonderful responses to my previous post.  I have one more quick question.

I am interested in using simple chain and charms for necklaces- do I just use little rings to attach or is there a better product?

For earrings, I'm interested in charms as well- I know I need the earring hooks, but other than that I don't know how to attach them - do I need pins or rings?  The simpler the better.

Thanks- sorry for the follow-up, I'm just trying to get started.

Not quite newborn -

While we were at our family's lake cabin (pictures which are yet to be posted!), we did a shoot with Will's new little cousin, A. She celebrated her six-week birthday while we were there, so she's not quite newborn. But she's cute and chubbly and we couldn't resist doing some photos with her. It's too bad that she doesn't live in Portland because she would definitely be becoming a Milestones baby!
