Books: Ever since I was a little girl I’ve shared my bed with a pile of books, numerous novels I immerse myself in before sleeping and upon waking, kindred souls paged and laid open, to mark my place. What I’ll do, should I ever get married and my husband wants somewhere on the bed to sleep, heaven knows. After all, I don’t know what I love more, the company of a good book, or the company of a good man.

He loved her for almost everything she was & she decided that was enough to let him stay for a very long time.

She kept asking if the stories were true. I kept asking her if it mattered. We finally gave up. She was looking for a place to stand & I wanted a place to fly.

Dumb: I'll be crawling at your money :D how to get to vj ah.
Me: I'm not telling you unless you crawl at my feet!

I really can't stand people who are:

a) inconsiderate
b) immature
c) selfish
d) ungrateful

and, what are the odds that you might be

e) all of the above??

Good job. Is it a matter of nature or nurture? Or both? In any case, I really don't see much hope for the next.

Sorry this post is confusing.

YARGH. I just really really don't like you and you. Quickly get rich and out of everyones' faces or at least just mine okay.

You said that we were childish, so yeah fine, perhaps we aren't as mature as you all are, if you define maturity as getting screwed and wasted? I don't want to have such negative thoughts but whenever I see the way you behave it just really irks me and I don't know how someone can be brought up to become a person like that; I mean, what's the point. YARGH.

I probably need to go watch 17 Again maybe some Zac Efron can help shut down my mental faculties for hopefully some hours so I don't need to keep processing THOUGHT.

I'm moving back!

I feel that there are too many things here that are still me, even though I have outgrown a lot of emotions and feeling by now, but I can't make the break away! Like an inseverable umbilical cord haha :D

I'm currently surrounded by weddings!! Everyone seems to be getting married; and the other day I was at my sis's jie mei meeting, everyone bar one (and me) were either married or pending. Makes me want to get married also leh! Haha, but am impaired by pratical and financial considerations. Seriously, I don't want to get married before having a stable income, and enough savings to make it a wonderful event! Though K doesn't care about all the trival formalities (oxymoron??), but as a girl, who doesn't dream of a wedding fit for a princess right! There was a stage some months ago where I was deeply embroiled in wedding envy, but I'm *almost* out of it by now haha. It's going to feel weird when my sis moves out though ): But I'm really happy that she got such a good husband laa! I mean she orders him around all the time but he doesn't mind! At least not from what I can see haha. But even though my jie fu is a man of little words, I can tell that he will really take care of my sis, because I've never really seen many major blowouts between them! K and I used to have quite turbulent times, but I really don't know why after I came back from Oz we have just been happy happy happy and I guess I don't really expect much anymore; just happy to be with him! :D

Actually I should be studying now instead of blogging (and playing mousehunt and restaurant city and taking endless fb quizzes)!! Management is probably one of the most redundant subjects I have ever studied grarrr it is such a complete WASTE OF TIME. Seriously I don't know how people in business modules survive yuck. ><

Never let it be said that I don't appreciate my boyfriend! Haha da I love you! The past few weeks have been pretty happy because of you! (Barring the days I get obese-monster treatment/reactions)

I feel like I have lived two lives. It feels surreal to think that for almost 5 months, I've been eating, sleeping, working, living, breathing in a place so distant and unconnected. Everything familar in my life is alien there, while everything that made Newcastle home is practically non-existant here.

5+ weeks ago, when they sent me off at Darling Harbour, I cried for the most part of the 2.5hr train ride, cried while saying goodbye, cried after saying goodbye. I've never cried about any friends like that before, because in our compact island city, there is really no such thing as goodbye forever. My family, the one I've left behind in Newcastle, is one that I'll very most likely hardly get to meet again, and even if we do, things won't quite be the same, somehow. Somewhere inside of me knew that the moment I saw my parents, I will have to say goodbye to that other life, so in some way, I guess I was also crying for that other me. If the String Theory if true, perhaps the other me, in some other dimension, would get the chance to somehow continue studying in Newcastle against all odds (money and curriculum).

Oh no I hadn't meant for this to be so melancholic! I was supposed to be basking in the joy of love and singing praises about the one who loves me so hehe :D Looooooooooooooveeeeeeeeeeee you!!! >O

WUT
It's 1.48am and i just baked a batch of cookies.

Yesterday (the day before?? or before that??? Friday early am and its Sunday early am now. When you don't sleep all days seem to become one long, insufferable, never-ending day. Okay time to close this overtly long and pointless parenthesis) I baked a batch of oreo brownies at 3am.

WHY????

WHY NOT????????

(Project deadlines are driving me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!)

[EDIT]
8.10am: Baked MORE cookies!!! This time with chocolate chunks hehe :D

That's pretty much all I've been doing all the time here!! I've been here for almost two months, and have gained so much weight I cant wear my jeans without sucking in my tummy )~: It's tragic!!!

Newcastle is pretty much a uni town, so it's like living in an enlarged NTU, minus the benefits of JP and The Sun (I know know the true value of 24hr convenience stores and Popular!!!) This is how we spend our days:
1) Wake up
2) Eat breakfast
3) Make lunch together
4) Eat lunch
5) Eat after lunch snacks while chit chatting
6) Eat before dinner snacks while chit chatting
7) Eat dinner
8) Eat after dinner snacks while chit chatting
9) Go back to respective rooms and watch anime/dramas online while snacking

!!!! Gone will be such days of extravagant eating!! My gut can't take it anymore ): Plus obviously I haven't been sticking to my SCD diet so my gut gets inflammed very easily + more frequent heartburns ): So from today onwards I have to keep a log of what I put in my mouth! Am tired of lugging an aching gut around ><

On a completely unrelated note, look at this clock!! Instead of reading the face, you look at the outer rim to tell time. Super cute!

Off to get my zucchini+apple cobbler from the oven!! I keep buying zucchinis and not eating them = baked goods!

My exams end tomorrow!! Hoho! Even though I still have 4 untouched lecture readings, even though I didn't buy the textbook (which I've heard is important), even though I haven't been to a single lecture (except to sit for the quizzes before leaving after turning them in), AND even though I didn't S/U it because I'm a complacent pig-head, I still wish it was a morning paper so it be over sooner!! But its in the evening!! Sighhh ): ): ):

Anyway more to come! Really I promise! I haven't blogged for one entire semester so there is A LOAD of stuff to blog about! (Including our christmas sleepover! Haha sorry my dears!!)

The weather's been nothing but wet these couple of days and I swear bugs are just freezing in midflight and dropping dead everywhere. My block's corridors are littered with bodies, but that's not the worst part. The worst, is when you wake up in the morning and really need to wee, but every single cubicle is occupied by some bug or other. Case in point:

Scene: Hall 10, Block 50, Level 5, Girls' toilet
Time: Early morning

Cubicle #1 occupant: a 2.5 inch long dragonfly at the base of the toilet bowl
Cubicle #2 occupant: a similar dragonfly (but much less fortunate) in the toilet bowl
Cubicle #3&4 occupants: misc. collection of bug remains in and around the toilet bowls

What does one have to do to get a clean toilet around here? ):

The weather is also really cold! I feel like I'm in some hilltop resort on holiday now. Need to enjoy this feeling of freedom (!) before all the hall work kicks in. It would be a lie to say that I don't regret joining so many activities. Hall life is getting rather weary and the need to participate in so much just to secure a room is beginning to seem like less than a fair trade. Too late, old boy, too late! The two saddest words in English history.

I seem to be posting nothing but youtube vides lately! But youtube is kind of a good resource the way wikipedia is. Anyways here's an air safey demo video by Virgin America! It's truly one of the best of its kind that I've seen! A good demonstration of how far the limits of information communication can be pushed (:

more airline safety here... )

Airline standards that I'm sure many a testosterone charged male person or two would love to have today:

more airline commercials here... )

If you've watched all those videos, you must be out-airlined by now, so here's a non-airline related commercial which is pretty amusing (and banned I think):

Watched Enchanted and Hero today! Movie marathon with my darling! Hoho :D

Hero was pretty exciting at some parts, but makes references to the TV special, so if you'd missed it you might not follow some parts.. But it did feel like watching a tv program on big screen, so you might be better off with a vcd/dvd.

Enchanted, on the other hand, is a totally different story!! It was FANTASTIC! Yes!! So if you haven't watched it, or don't plan to, GO NOW! The story is predictable but this is a movie where the plot doesn't matter so much as execution does. And the ending credits art is just beautiful!

I felt the animation and drawing style was different from previous Disney styles and learnt from Wikipedia (as we all do) that the animation was outsourced to another company because most of their 2D artists were laid off after the CG boom. What! Why?? ): They should hire better writers, not lay off their treasures and what makes them Disney. But the animation was still pretty good, if you ignore the grotesque anatomical errors (Disney princesses had exaggerated figure proportions, but wait till you see Giselle's). The music and dance scenes were fantastic! Just like old school! The most fun part about the whole thing was trying to look for references. Reading the official reference list makes me want to watch it a second time!

Behind the scenes.
Warning: spoilers! You might want to watch this after you've seen the movie (:

All this is making my psyched for Rapunzel! But that's only coming out in 2010. Sigh! What's revealed looks very promising though, what with Fragonard being their inspiration and all. I love Fragonard's work, and if they do succeed, the graphics for Rapunzel will definitely be an unprecedented breakthrough! I do hope that after the retooling they scraped the pop culture references (ala Shrek and Chicken Little). They're funny, but somehow diminishes the magic of the animated world, especially seeing that they'll most probably be marketing this one as another Princess film, and why would people want to be reminded of the real world when watching a Princess film? X:

Poster for VisComm End of Semester Show. Bigger here.

Exams are over! In fact they were over exactly one week ago (my exams ended last monday, 11am), and I'm already back from my holiday! Chiangmai/Chiangrai is really really good, wayyy better than claustrophobic Bangkok! Lots of things to see + lots of things to buy + good food! I haven't uploaded the photos though cause am still clearing my laptop for disk space (:

Enjoy your holidays people!!

I am so totally NOT readysteady for asian art history (aptly abbreviated as AAH!!!) tomorrow!! And I haven't started on history of graphic design (tuesday morning) either!!!

In times like this, everyone wishes they had Doraemon and his magical Memory Bread. No kidding. Google for 'doraemon memory bread' and will result in 5000000 other pre-exam-frenzy-induced-cries-for-the-unobtainable like this.

You can buy it here but I highly doubt that it will work. Or be digestible.

For the people who have no idea about what on earth this whole post is about:

Finally! Submissions! Are! Over!

After more than two weeks of 3-4hours of sleep per 3 days (max), I have cleared the last submission! The past week had been particularly hard because there was an exam sandwiched in between two pairs (4 total) of submissions and it was CRAZYY. My eyebags are worse than ever! And a whole pore/blackhead community has found their way to my nose. But that's not the point. The point it that submissions are FINALLY over! (and one paper) And there's only 3 more papers to go! Hoho!

Watched Stardust today! There are sooo many good movies now that I can't watch because of exams ): Hope they'll still be around after I come back from Thailand! Stardust was pretty good entertainment -- pretty and stuff, but background and character development wise, it could definitely have had been better. Company was great though!! Hohoho first date-to with my darling since FOREVER! and before our emminent 3 week separation ): ): Had dinner at NYNY afterwards (: The pumpkin patch soup and bread was super yummy, the garlic bread had cheese on top! But the main courses was just so-so; we have decided to only buy must-have-its from there from now on X:

Drafts for my History of Graphic Design Zeigeist invitation. Will be posting the final and more works up slowly bit by bit! (And knowing me, slowly will really be slowly!)
