Where's the line?

Well, that was certainly a full weekend!

Within a few hours of being onsite, the only child we'd taken with us was in the med-tent, then off to the local hospital with a suspected broken ankle. Luckily it was only a bad strain, and a minor fracture, but it still left him on crutches for the entire weekend and cut into other things we had planned.

The promised meeting with faction command about three groups on the verge of leaving the faction never happened. We kind of expected that I guess, but I had hoped that they would be true to their word this time. We are now in a bit of limbo. Due to recent developments & conversations, we have agreed to delay our reactions based on previous events. And it is those agreements that are currently holding together the faction. Hopefully Renewal will see these things all resolved.

An unexpected twist occurred during the weekend with us being led to the Jhereg Inquisition! Unfortunately, this seemed to be another event caused by the IC/OOC overlap that is prevalent within the faction at the moment. These overlaps are making some very difficult encounters happen, which should not really be occurring. But once they do happen, it is hard to then get a ref call to discount actions of people. Which then allows for false information to continue on and gather steam. I guess that is one of the dangers of the game, but it doesn't feel good when you have accusations thrown at you based on OOC information, and you don't have any come-back or way of stopping it happen!

To be honest, at one point I expected a ref call to go through at one stage directed against me. It didn't (as far as I'm aware), but I would not have been surprised given the information that was currently available. More OOC meetings then followed trying to ensure that people understood where the line was between IC/OOC, and how people were, or could be, distorting it.

The whole lack of IC/OOC separation has left a bad taste in my mouth, and is making me feel a little uncomfortable speaking to anybody about anything when not completely IC. I'm hoping that by the time Renewal is over, that things will have calmed down again, but with people blurring the IC/OOC line so often, something else will occur which will upset someone else unnecessarily.

We now have a little over 5 weeks to prepare for the big event of the year. And what with it being on home soil, we are hoping for it to be a good event. With the faction divided as it is I'm not sure how coherent things will be, but we will try to do our part, despite not feeling a part of the faction. The list of things we want to prepare before Renewal is pretty long already and it's going to be a push to be ready. I'm hoping a lot of the faction will pre-book as space will be a limiting factor for the faction. For some reason we suffer with reduced pre-bookings causing us to be given a smaller glade (understandably), but then have more people turn up trying to squeeze into a cramped space. I guess this is probably an issue with most factions I suppose.

Back in the 'real world', we are till trying to do all the married life changeovers. We're getting there slowly. It's kind of weird getting used to a joint back account though :) Need to get the car sorted soon as well. The recent heat wave in the UK & in Paris has caused two cracks to appear in the windscreen. One is minor, but the other is starting to 'grow' across the windscreen.

And once everything gets sorted and out of the way, we can sit back and enjoy all the stress that goes with buying a house & moving... I don’t know which is more stressful at the moment. Real life or Algain life :)
