I'm back from visiting
stained_dreams in Manchester. The weather was grey and rather cold, but at least there was no rain, whereas I was told there was a lot in France.
As I mentioned before, we saw Star Trek Into Darkness and the Doctor Who finale. <3 We also watched a couple of nice f/f movies: Loving Annabelle and Kiss Me. The latter is from Sweden, which seems to make a lot of great LGBT movies, since I've also seen and liked Fucking Åmål and Patrick 1.5.
We went bowling and it turned out that we are equally matched since
stained_dreams won the first game by 15 points and I won the second one by 16 points. :-)
We also went to the comics/manga shops and to the bookshops. On the way back, we saw a great street performer. He only did a few acrobatics, but he had a nice comedy act to present it all, it was very enjoyable.

This morning I went to see Star Trek Into Darkness with
stained_dreams. Why, yes, I'm in Britain, as France won't release the movie for another month. >_> Anyway, it was amazing! There was so much Kirk/Spock and Kirk/Spock/Uhura! ♥_♥ I'm going to be reading fics for months. :D

And since I'm in Manchester, I was able to see the Doctor Who finale yesterday. It was my first time seeing Doctor Who live, so it was kind of exciting, especially since Vastra/Jenny and Strax were back. <3

The Inheritance Trilogy by NK Jemisin will be joining my favourite books ever. ♥
nagasasu recced this series to me as we were discussing polyamory, and since I had already heard very good things about it, of course I went for it.
This is a story about gods and humanity, about love and hate, about betrayal, revenge and forgiveness, and it will give you FEELS. <3 The main gods are m/m/f and their relationship is essential to the storyline, so you get a lot of m/m/f from them, and then some more from other characters. I will add that the story features powerful female characters, including powerful women of colour.

Madame Vastra and Jenny are back! \o/ With Commander Strax and his obsession with grenades. XD

You guys, Orphan Black is so exciting! Tatiana Maslany does such a good job playing all these roles and mixing them up when the girls are replacing one another.
Also, not only is there m/m, but we're also getting some f/f now! Cosima FTW! <3

Continuum is back. \o/
I really enjoy this Canadian time travel show. It's not very famous yet, but it's good quality, with a solid plot and a lot of great actors. Rachel Nichols love! Lexa Doig love! <3

Happy Birthday,
stained_dreams! ♥
Defiance is Syfy's new space western. Westerns aren't my thing, but I like TV shows with many alien species and the pilot kept me entertained, so I'm going to watch this, at least for a while.
Plus, it has awesome ladies: Julie Benz, Mia Kirshner and Jaime Murray. <3 I like the Romeo and Juliet kids, they're adorable, but I hope a show with such a big cast will have more than just het romance.

I'm trying Karneval for the new anime season, it's really the only thing that drew my attention. Fortunately, Hakkenden will be back in July.
Karneval deals with magical fighters who belong to Circus, a defence organisation. It's full of bishies with great seiyuu and it has BL vibes all over the place. ^__^
You can download the first episode here.

Eureka is the science version of Warehouse 13. Well, technically, Warehouse 13 is based on electromagnetism, so it's sci-fi as well, but it definitely looks more like fantasy. The two shows have a couple of crossovers, which is always nice. It's just a pity that Eureka isn't of the same quality: it's a fun series, but the stories tend to be ridiculous, to the point that it almost looks like a sitcom.
I started watching it for Niall Matter, who plays Evan Cross in Primeval: New World. Zane is one of the best characters of the show and I ship him a lot with Jo. For a het pairing, they're pretty cool. Unfortunately, there's nobody to slash. :/
Regular guest stars include James Callis (Gaius Baltar in BSG) and Felicia Day. :-)

Game of Thrones is back! \o/ It was a slow first episode, apart from Daenerys and Margaery being wonderful, strong ladies.
So much love for the dragonets! <3 I hope the Temeraire movies will actually happen one day.
Also, please be careful to indicate book spoilers in your posts. I was spoilt several times about a certain character's death last year. :-(

Orphan Black deals with a girl, Sarah, who discovers she is one of several clones. I enjoyed the first episode, it was very dynamic. And Felix, her foster brother, is gay, so we get m/m all over the episode. :D

Doctor Who is back with Clara as a new companion for a very modern episode about WiFi. It was very well done and definitely in the spirit of the show. Once they start travelling back in time, I hope we'll get a bunch of episodes with my favourite Victorian lesbian couple, Madame Vastra and Jenny. <3
Clara is a fan of Amy's book(s), how sweet is that! :-)

Criminal Minds is a good, rather well-written show. It would be even better if it were less gruesome, but I just look away from the screen when it gets too gory. ^^;;
I started watching it because I kept hearing about Morgan/Reid. Before seeing the opening credits for the first time, I didn't know that it had been created by #jeffdavisisagift. It turns out that there are LGBT characters on a regular basis, though they're always one-episode characters. Well, this was true for the first few seasons, then there weren't any for a long while, but Season 8 seems to be back to the initial standards and episode 15 was especially moving in this regard. In addition, Reid was supposed to be bisexual, but unfortunately the network didn't want that. >_> That won't keep me from slashing him with Morgan but, to be honest, there isn't that much subtext between them apart from Morgan often calling him "Pretty Boy". I was surprised when I started shipping Rossi/Hotchner, they have some very good scenes together, I'm thinking for example of the one where they coach Jack's football (soccer) team together.
The show has a bunch of strong female characters. I have a huge crush on Prentiss, she is just awesome. I also really like Seaver, played by Rachel Nichols (Gaila in Star Trek, Kiera in Continuum), even though she was part of the team only temporarily. And of course Garcia is the coolest analyst ever.

I've read The Princess Series by Jim C. Hines. You might know him from when he tested the pose of women on fantasy book covers. But nobody told me at the time that these novels included some f/f. Once I knew that, I was even more interested.
These books deal with what happens after the happily-ever-after of badass princesses Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. Expect a lot of action and adventure. They also meet other fairytale characters like The Little Mermaid or Red Riding Hood. Sleeping Beauty is a lesbian (though she's not with Mulan this time ^^). It is known from the first book, but the actual f/f is in Books 3 and 4.

I've just seen the OVA of Saint Onii-san, the manga about Jesus and Buddha living together in Japan. I had read a few chapters way back. It's not laugh-out-loud funny, but it will definitely make you smile. I think my favourite part was Jesus offering a goat to their landlady. XD
I watched the pilot of the xxxHolic drama out of curiosity. I didn't expect much, but surprisingly the supernatural aspect was well done and I actually had trouble with the characters. It's not often that I both read the manga and watch the anime, but I did it for xxxHolic and the anime is a good adaptation of the manga, so this canon is deeply rooted in my mind and it's just really weird for me to see something different.
I've just watched the first episode of Vikings. It's very good and will help with the wait for the next season of Game of Thrones.

Today I went to see Beautiful Creatures. It was a nice little witchcraft movie, maybe not as impressive as The Craft or The Covenant, but still I can always do with more movies like this.
Jeremy Irons was super classy. He always is, but magic definitely suits him.

I've just watched the pilot of Cult, the new CW meta show. Basically, it's a crazy TV series about the crazy fans of a crazy TV series, which turns out to be more than just that. CRAZYCEPTION!
The pilot was very well done, so I have a lot of hope for this show. It's also really nice to see Matthew Davis (Alaric in The Vampire Diaries) back in a lead role.

The Good Wife is one of the best shows I have ever seen. I'm not even biased because my favourite shows are always SFF and this one is about lawyers and politicians, so it is as far from SFF as you can get. It's just brilliant, trust me and the rest of your flist on this, the promos don't reflect how good it is.
It's full of strong female characters: Alicia, Kalinda, Diane and many others. I love them all. It deals with POC representation, through Kalinda, Nisa, Julius, Derrick and various people at the State's Attorney's office. And it has several LGBT characters. Kalinda is one of the main characters and we see her with several women, including an FBI agent. I must say I kind of ship her with Alicia (especially in the first two seasons), not necessarily in a sexual way, but at least in an emotional one. Owen only appears from time to time, but I wouldn't consider him a minor character since he is Alicia's brother. And it stars several gay actors, including the famous Alan Cumming who is simply perfect as Eli Gold.
I also like the fact that there are recurring guest stars as judges and lawyers. Special mention to the True Blood cast: Denis O'Hare (Russell Edgington) as Judge Abernathy – this will never not be funny, Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler) as Elsbeth Tascioni and Anna Camp (Sarah Newlin) as Caitlin D'arcy.

I've just read Patricia Briggs' Fair Game, the latest Alpha and Omega novel. It was wonderful, no surprise there, I'm such a big fan of this writer. <3
I love how Anna and Charles look so ill-fitted to human beings, but work so well together in reality. It's also great to see more of the faes, especially Beauclaire, ( spoilerCollapse )
