First of all, look at this and this. Now that it brings back memories, I regret the fact that I don't speak French. *sighs*

Twit-rants: On Why Namor the Sub-mariner Would Always be My Most Favorite Marvel Character (in Indonesian)Collapse )

Can't hardly wait for the flesh-and-blood Namor!

P.S. I need a Namor icon, I believe. :D

So be it I finally watched the oh-so anticipated movie of all ages. While I found myself unable to sit calmly on my seat, I also had to admit that there were at the very least TEN things about New Moon that, despite the movie’s grandeur popularity, seemed to worth the cash.

(Oh, and I forgot to tell you that TEN also stands for Totally Erroneous Nastiness.)

TEN Things about New Moon that You Like (and I Don’t)Collapse )

I ended up marathoning Gundam 00 Eps. 16-20 and Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou Eps. 5-7 last night. 00's Eps. 20 really, really turned me off I almost regreted watching. Well, 'almost'  was the keyword. Lyle, your characterization was such big disappointment. Give me back my Neil. Let's see what Sunrise could do with only a few  episodes more. I'm crossing my fingers so they won't rush and pack a lot of thing into low-brow simplification.

And Setsuna... you're officially the Death Bringer of CB now. First Tieria blamed you for Neil's death, and now Lyle for Anew's. If there's a Kurdish Former Guerilla Boy Adoption Group, I'll join. Seriously.

As for ZNY... why does simple anime with simple storyline could have so much power to move me? When Madara's real form curled around Natsume, who couldn't see him, and Madara's all quiet and thoughful... guh! And boy was I so happy with Eps. 7's last scene, the one with Madara's watching over Natsume. That's what I called worth my bandwith.

Somebody, give me a slash Madara/Natsume work or anything, please oh please?

lada_hitam, you may want to comment on this. ^^

Okay. So basically I'm drop dead tired from having an all-day book-hunting at Grand Indonesia's Gramedia. Bought a lot of books, and one of them is Andre Aciman's Call Me by Your Name (translated into Cinta Terlarang in Indonesia). Aside from the ueber cheesy translated title (seriously, that sounds like a daily cheap soap opera in TV), this novel actually won Rauxa Award 2007 for Best Erotic Novel. Now I really really really want to read the English version.

My crit for now: why Cinta Terlarang--"forbidden love" in English? Why "forbidden"? Who made it "forbidden"? Why such title? Because it's more selling or because the publisher was more or less subconsiously prejudiced from the very beginning? Mind you, it's Serambi we're talking about. I mean, even Andrei Aksana's gay-themed novel was titled Lelaki Terindah (equally cheesy but better sounded--to me) and Bagus Utama's one Manusia Manusia. Well, I'm not opinionated, so don't start telling me I am. Though I agree that a title is an important part of a book, it's disappointing to see a title that, instead of being the first prelude to a book, distances the book from its theme/plot/storyline/you-name-it itself.

Speaking of the title (as yuck as it is), it immediately reminded me of Ren Tobing's song for the movie Arisan!, a must-watch contemporer Indonesian movie (which, not-so accidentally, also portrayed the life of gay men). Want to listen to the song? HERE.

Let's see if I would put a review on this novel later. Now I'm off, back to the book. Roger that, Captain.

OT: do we have seiyuu fanfic? Last night I read some F1 fic and went all brainmush (it's been long since I last read real person fic), and now I want to challenge myself to read some of the seiyuus.

You know, I like musical play the best among all plays. THIS is one that I really, really want to watch. Think it'll be long-lasting like Lloyd-Webber's Phantom or JC Superstar?

The last play I watched was Perempuan di Titik Nol (December 6) in Salihara Community. It's not even a musical play; it's a monologue. The lone leading actress, 24-year old Hamidah, delivered a bitter, devastated woman to life even though I wasn't really fond of her thin timbre. Overall, it's pretty good, though I still find some parts of the play were dwindled unnecessarily.

Speaking of which, I'm on my way making my annual review. For some reason, Macross Frontier's songs battle each other to sit on the top five places on the list. :D

Generally, it's not easy for me to dive into a fandom, but it's so easy for me to just fall out of love and leave. You know, when things got so cliche and so common (as if some certain patterns are not a parole anymore, but a langue), it's time when boredom and I befriend each other well. It happens, and it happens in high frequency it's kinda starting to make me frown.

THIS. Is the best commentary on doujinshi work (and it's Lamento for squeeing out loud). EVER.

Dangerous Pleasure released a Slam Dunk doujinshi done by Yamane Ayano-sensei. Whee!

RL: Mom, what are you going to make me do in Christmas holiday with that shiny, brand-new treadmill, body slender and bunch of dumbbells? *le sigh*

Watching the presidential debate, I wondered what McCain's "that one" was intended to be. Was it an intentional insult or simply loose tongue of impoliteness? Americans, you tell me.

John Berendt, the author of the Pulitzer-nominated Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, visited FIB UI today. He called himself just another man in the New Journalism wave, and he added more to my already loose, jumbled sense of what literature, sans high couture, means.

It's been week since I finished reading Deepak Chopra's Buddha: A Story of Enlighment and reread it again and again. What I thought of Chopra's Buddha, as I put on my GoodreadsCollapse )

Friends who have read my fic Being Athrun Zala, I have to apologize for I have to put the last chapter of BAZ on hold for at least one month more.

I... finally gave in. *sighs* My facebook account.

This, beside the national anthem Indonesia Raya, was what got me breaking in tears of joy in my graduation day, hohoho. *is bricked*

Watching L change the WorLd again, this time in DVD. I hope there'll be more explanation for the number (Fibonacci and so on), but there's none. I'm not that brilliant, Ohba-sensei....

Happy birthday,[info]kat8cha dear!!!

Minna, is there any of you who follows Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas? And speaking of Saint Seiya, you see, I've been rewatching the whole Hades saga (mainly for Ikki and Shun's interaction, because, Lord, it's a beautiful sibling relation like the Elrics). Oh, and augh if you want, but it's only now that the Camus/Milo lighted a spark in me. Well, I didn't really like the pair (if it could be called so) since I'm Scorpio and my bro's Aquarius, but now I'm won over. Hyoga, off you go!

Whoever listens to Joseph Arthur, raise your hand, please. I'm starting to have a liking of him.

Got this info about Furuba dorama from petapepy. Yamapi as Yuki? Tohma as Kyo? *faints*

The Dark Knight is the bestest Batman movie so far!

The only words I repeated while watching was Oh God, Oh God, Oh God, Oh God! This is not a perfect man trying to keep being perfect. It's raw, it's painful, and it's so human. And Joker made me wince, he really did. He's agonizing madness, cruelty and viciousness. He doesn't make me laugh at all. He's scary and terrible and just The Joker. Perfect Joker. I vote for Heath's Joker now above Jack Nicholson's. May Heath be proud up there.

Gordon reminds me of Yagami Senior (Death Note), and Harvey's so messed up (even from the beginning) I couldn't help pitying him. And look, people! TDK shows that heroes aren't in the superknight or supervillain, it's in the common people. Though, I admit, I frowned at the scene where the people on both ferries stopped themselves from killing each other, and once again when Batman took all the blame. Man, morality! What a mock!

And Gotham is hauntingly frightening, inside and outside.

But still. I wouldn't mind watching TDK over and over. If Pirates3 got me thrice, why couldn't TDK got me ten times?

You see, I'm totally enchanted! Saitoh-sensei's art has been getting much prettier as she progress. Her Hijikata is totally a refreshing break from all the grumpy, genius but silent, cruel or indifferent Hijikata in most literatures I've read. And aside from the fact that I'm kinda desperate for October to come, my eyes are really playing tricks on me because everywhere in her manga I saw Lockon, Tieria, Lockon, Tieria, Lockon, Tieria... Well, in honor of Humbert, I'll just say, "Repeat, printer, until the page is full."

In which Hijikata is Tieria and Harada is... Lockon?!Collapse )
RL: still in Grandma's house. You see, I think she's just lonely. Of course I won't miss my cousin's wedding next month, but hell. She's been making a big ruckus over it again and again. Grandma, you know I love you and I never missed a family occasion no matter how hellish it was, but come on. This gotta stop. Don't turn all conversation we have to that question of when I'll be getting married myself. Geez.

...I want to go home.

Edit: Naruto 399. Die you, die Sasuke, die, die, die! I hope the guilt make you grovel at Itachi's grave. Itachi, you can't get more magnificent.

Edit: Deep condolences to Reda L. Gaudiamo for the passing of her beloved father.
