Thank God gundam00</lj> has cerulean88. It's definitely a perfect armed intervention!

Happy birthday, huexmeira!

And this is my personal fst for Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita.

I am mental. I am doomed like doomed. So share a good laugh with me.

1. Guster - Demons
Honesty is easy/Fiction's where genius lies/
Let us toast to Hum's "I only have words to play with." Yeah, brother. Hats off to Nab.

2. Vienna Teng - Daughter
/And you're talking about things, interesting just slightly, and things that matter too much to say any way but lightly/Did you know you're so beautiful on the edge of summer, that years from now I'll cry to remember how very close you were?/Knowing this, will I reach for you?/
Their first meeting. Viena is a goddess, period. There’s no FST of mine without her song. I would like to see her in flesh and I will die a happy person. Daughter has me in for the self-depressed mode.

3. Tom Waits - Little Drop of Poison
/She left in the fall, that's her picture on the wall/She always had that little drop of poison/
Because Hum is perfectly aware of what he's doing. Ha very ha.

4. Rufus Wainwright - Rules and Regulations
/These are just the rules and regulations/Of the birds, and the bees/The earth, and the trees/...Yeah, these are just the rules and regulations/And I, like everyone, yes, I, like everyone, must follow them/
Hum, torn between his nympholepsy and his ‘respect’ for children. List down dear Rufus' songs to be conjured up in this fst, and the result would make me resist, resist hard, to put all of his. From One Man Guy to April Fools, they're all highly appropriate. This song wins for the brass section (and its dorky video clip). Well, yeah, just Rufus me.

5. The Police - Don't Stand So Close to Me
/He starts to shake and cough/Just like the old man in that book by Nabokov/
Lo, to Hum. Set before that infamous sofa scene. Mr Summers and co., how I love you so for this song.

6. Martha Wainwright - Lolita
/Momma's not home, we're alone/Let's play house/Come over here sit next to me/I'll be as quiet as a mouse/
Hum, to Lo. Believe me, I tried so hard to avoid using this song, I really did. I mean, come on, it’s drop dead obvious! But then again, what is an fst about Lolita without a song about Lolita? I don't like Prince's—definitely the kick of my personal taste here, and I first thought of putting Santana’s Yaleo or Dream Theatre’s Bolero here. But well, it’s not nepotistic that another Wainwright is present in this fst, because she clearly wins the life! This is what I call the phantasmagoria for the sofa scene.

7. Stabbing Westward - So Far Away
/Desperately I try to fight this overwhelming sense/That I may never find the strength to change how hopeless we've become/We need to find a way to break this silence/We need to find a way to break this silence that's between us/So I scream your name/But every time that I touch you, you feel so far away/
The Enchanted Hunters theme. Doomed, with capital D—yes, it’s the word of the day. Why don't we call it a day and wish each other good night, please? Oh well.

8. Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You into the Dark
/And I held my tongue as she told me, "Son, fear is the heart of love."/So I never went back/
Humbert, to Headmistress Pratt. This amuses me to no end, because, well, after this, Hum officially lets Lo lead him into the dark darker than before. Some DCFC songs are the song, and I was tempted to put this one at the end of my track list, but no, my friend. This has to be the Beardsley School Song theme. Stone me in lala land.

9. Zeke and The Popo - Menu
/On our tails the enemy is catching up/I couldn't drive any faster/Starts a rambling monologue about a girl from unrescued world/So I put a pressure on her wound/Lolita slowly drifting away/
The second trip theme song. The red Convertible is behind them. Quilty is behind them. The devil is licking at their heels. Or perhaps not, really. For it's a hero that Lo is seeing in Quilty and is waiting for. Just leave the Hummyguy anxiously miserable, Lo. I’m not really fond of ZATPP's Janis Jopliny video clip directed by Anggun Priambodo for Menu, but there's one girl with Death Note’s L's noh mask with her, sitting on a train. Just that, and that’s it. A lonely girl from an unrescued world. Hum’s Lo.

10. Vienna Teng - Drought
/Summer move forward and leave your heat anchored in dust/Forgotten him, cheated him, painted illusions of lust/How language escape, fugitive of forgiveness,/leaving as trace only circles of rust/
After Lo runs away with Quilty from Elphinstone, it’s a drought of loss for Hum.

11. The Murmurs - Shadow
/Forgive me for letting you down in this lifetime, shadow, shadow/But you let go long before my chance to save you/The could've's, the would've's/Too late for answers/I need you now, I miss you now/I'll love you forever/
That one answer of "Because I love him" from Lo is enough to reduce Hum into an unrecognizable lump of pitiable desperado. And it's that when he finds the decision to kill, really kill Quilty. Way to go, Hum.

13. Rungran – d.m.c. (instrumental)
Though it stands for and comes from Devil May Cry, this is the theme song for that fateful fight. The blurring of imageries, of Hum and Quilty, and of imagination and truth, all in all, it’s it. Whew. Forget the old-school and give me your strongest shot, Mr. Bartender.

14. Joydrop - Cocoon
/If I should choose to fall apart, don't you think you should let me?/If I should choose to die alone, you should forgive and forget me/
After killing Quilty, what else did Humbert have left? No Lolita, no will, no nothing.

15. Mash - Thanatos ~ If I Can't Be Yours
/Can't even cry from the pain, can't shed a tear now/I realize we're not the same and it's making me sad/’Cos we can't fulfill our dreams in this life/
Post-Quilty killing and during the writing of his memoir. So very Hum. Numb. Belied of feelings. Lost. Suicidal The most important line of this song, "What am I if I can't be yours", does kill.

16. Queen - Who Wants to Live Forever
/There’s no chance for us/It’s all decided for us/This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us/
And it all must end. It all must, so Hum can have his eternity, so forgive the old man his sin, le fin, good night.

Note to self: post to fst</lj> when done dealing with work ^^
