tutorial one: colouring

I created this icon using Photoshop CS. Please use this tutorial as a guide - I'm sure by experimenting, you'll probably get even better results; copying word for word will only limit your icon-making skills and the point is to develop better skills, isn't it?

This tute was requested by _ensoleille. Image of Emma Watson is from MuggleThai's Gallery. I tried my hardest to get it exactly the same as the original icon, as I don't precisely remember the colours I used, just the process and modes etc.
