Bio:

I’m legal, but can’t buy beer. I registered Democrat the day I turned 18. I’ve always been one of the tallest girls in my class at 5’11 and a size 10 shoe. I look like I’m about 15 and I have had to show my driver’s license to people before to make them believe that I’m a senior in high school. I’m the stereotypical straight-A student and I belong to practically every club and organization in school. My favorite class in high school was US History, but I like College Chem, Honors English 10, and Psychology a lot, too. I have lived in the same tiny town in upstate New York for my whole life, with my mom, my dad, and my brother. My mom is a substitute teacher, my dad works for a company that makes small airplanes, and my brother is a 20-year-old graphic arts major at a community college. Next year, I’m going to be a freshman History/Women’s Studies major and Education minor at State University of New York (SUNY) - Brockport. I applied to nine schools and got into all but three that wait-listed me for various reasons. That’s okay. I decided to say to them what my gay boyfriend frequently says to me. “Whatever bitch…you don’t know me!” I’ve never been in love, unless you count Jason Lewis, but I’m hopeful for the future. I think that the sound of little kids laughing is the greatest sound in the entire world. I want at least four of my own someday because I absolutely love kids. I want to be either a Civil Rights lawyer or a politician, but I’m thinking I might want to be a high school teacher instead. I used to read more than any other activity, including sleeping. Although I now have a life, I still find time to read a book or two a week. My favorite authors are J.D. Salinger, Judy Blume, and Megan McCafferty. My family and friends think I’m weird because my tastes are so eclectic. One day, I might be reading Hemingway and listening to Eminem. That day, I might say that “Old School” or “Anchorman” is my favorite movie. The next day, I’m reading The Princess Diaries, listening to Kenny Chesney, and saying that “Garden State” is my favorite movie. I don’t really fit into any one category for my tastes in books or music or movies – I like everything. I have wanted to be a published author since I was thirteen. I’m hoping that someday, it might happen. In the meantime, my laptop is full of half-finished novels and short stories that I haven’t had the heart to end just yet. My best friends are Courtney, Jenn, and Alyssa (aka Woody) and I spend practically every waking second with them, especially if we’re at school. Without my friends, I would be lost. I have a weakness when it comes to gay men and I’m proud to carry the label of Fag Hag. I have four gay boyfriends who I love dearly. They’re the only men I can stand most of the time. I love to drive, especially when the weather is beautiful, and also at night, with the windows down and the music blaring. I love thunderstorms. I wear flip-flops to school absolutely every day, even in January. I like dressing up, even though I rarely do, simply because I don’t have any dress-up clothes that I really like. I also really like make-up…it makes me look older, so I can usually pass for 17, at least, which is an improvement over 14 or 15. I have brown hair, blue eyes, and I’ve worn glasses since 8th grade. I think I look weird without them, so I doubt I’ll ever get contacts. I collect rubber band bracelets and I wear four of them every day: “I Did Not Vote 4 Bush”, “Lead the Revolution” (Reality Check), “Reading is Magic”, and “Rock the Arts” (Hot Topic Foundation). My only other everyday jewelry is my class ring, which has a red stone (my class’s Spirit Week color) with National Honor Society on one side and my school’s mascot, the mustang, on the other. My brother thinks I’m crazy because I actually like school and think that my teachers have done a really good job educating me and preparing me for college. I guess I just got lucky. If I could be anywhere in the world, I’d be sitting in a coffee shop in Greenwich Village, either reading “Summer Sisters” by Judy Blume or sitting in that same coffee shop, talking to my three best friends about things that are only important to us. My favorite pair of jeans are two sizes too big for me and are falling apart, but I wear them all the time anyway. I love hoodies and wear them instead of coats. I am proud to say that I am addicted to Sex & the City and Law & Order and Gilmore Girls and under no circumstances will I be entering a 12-step program anytime soon. I love hugs, which I give to people everyday, and I love kissing, but I haven’t had the opportunity to do much of that lately (applications are now being accepted ;-)). I like making people happy and if I could afford to not work and just make people smile when they’re having a bad day, that’s what I’d do for the rest of my life. I believe in God and guardian angels and in miracles, and I don’t think that it’s naïve to say that, although that’s what some people tell me. I'm still afraid of the dark, even if I am 18. I don’t think that the United States has had a decent President since Franklin Roosevelt died in 1945. I also agree with this guy - that FDR would spit in Bush’s eye if he saw what that asshole was doing to his country. I might not agree with the war in Iraq, but I have friends who are fighting there and I support and respect our troops for fighting for what they believe in, even if I don’t necessarily agree. I think that Michael Moore and Jon Stewart are wonderful and I can’t stand Rush Limbaugh or Bill O’Reilly. In 2008, if it’s not a Hilary-Obama ticket (and win), I’m either writing in Jon Stewart’s name on the ballot or moving to Canada. My grandma is my hero and she always will be. My name is Lindsay Rebecca, which I’m okay with. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it, either, and it’s the only name I could see myself ever having.
