The falsetto in this song is really REALLY pretty but I don't like the country-ish arrangement. Will have to listen a few more times and maybe it will grow on me... Meanwhile, you can read about Roy Kim and his single here.

Lee Hyori about whom I posted yesterday continues her promotion with a rather amusing vid about self-sufficient girls. Not that the idea is groundbreaking (which female singer hasn't tried it?) or anything but it keeps one's attention. As does the song itself, IMO.

One of the former original idols, variety star and animal lover Lee Hyori is finally back with a monochrome vid 'Miss Korea' from her [huge] new album 'Monochrome'. It's not her usual pop-dance fare at all. What is it? See and listen :)
The album is fully of country, jazzy, rock-n-rolly and rocky tunes, and whatnot. It's not k-pop at all. I've never expected Hyori to move into the indie territory, but even doing this she tears through the charts. I usually want my k-pop to sound exactly like k-pop -- in the end, I like k-pop, right? But I still picked Hyori's two title songs and some more. It's like a big take on Western music and specifically, movie music. Pretty interesting as a whole.
Also, as a note from a shallow spectator: my, does she clean up well! :)

Katniss's trial begins, in the odd situation of not really having a functional government to run it.

I don't usually post Japanese releases of Korean groups but I found this one worth a mention. Because the new Japanese release of Girls' Generation sounds like Wonder Girls in too many elements, only more cutesy -- I must say 'again'; remember 'Twinkle'? The vid looks too much like WG's 'Like This' too. Did SME producers lost their creativity or something?

I saw Star Trek Into Darkness Sunday afternoon but haven't said anything about it because... I just really had no urge to talk about it at all. This perplexes me. I've seen a few episodes of the original series and Next Generation, so I have a decent background on it without being married to canon. I loved the first new movie. I like J.J. Abrams movies generally, lens flares and all. I felt a reasonable amount of enjoyment while I was watching this one. All I could say when I walked out was, "That was... a whole lotta movie." I really cannot understand why.

In my last post I whinged about how difficult it is to reconcile two very different familes' hopes and expectations for Mr Oz's and I's wedding. My parents want a big posh do, Mr Oz's parents want something more intimate and Caucasian.
At last, thanks to Lizard's Amazing Googling Prowess, and much to-ing and fro-ing between both sets of parents and Mr Oz, (who is surprisingly picky and fussy!) I have hit upon the perfect solution that all parties are happy with:
Day 1: Legal wedding ceremony in Scotland. Not only is this much easier re: legal requirements, but also I have decided I am totally going to do it at GRETNA GREEN! We can get married in the Blacksmith's Shop over the anvil, how cool would that be :D :D :D This ceremony would meet Mr Oz's parents' hopes for an intimate wedding, and I'll get to represent some of my more English (as opposed to Asian) tastes in style. It'll also be quite easy to organise as there won't be that many people (15-20 at most).
Day 2: Not necessarily the day after Day 1, you understand.... This will be the Muslim wedding ceremony, quite solemn and sedate in our local London mosque. I don't intend to do much planning for this, everyone concerned would prefer the religious ceremony to be private and simple, and my parents are emotionally invested in having us marry in our local place after Friday prayers. :)
Day 3: Again, not necessarily straight after Day 2.... This is the big one! A London reception with 80 guests (parents agreed to decrease from 120 after much persuasion xD), tasty Asian food and the big fancy red Asian wedding dress and ridiculous jewellery. And I have found a funky, unique, and downright pretty venue for this... LONDON ZOO. No, I am not kidding :D! They have a really awesome pavillion that overlooks Regents Park, and hilariously is right next to the Australian Outback section with the wallabies and emus xD All guests get a complementary 1 hour ticket to roam the zoo, and zoo keepers can come and do a talk with live animals for the guests to pet! I was worried about trying to have a fun reception because there will be no dancing (Mr Oz and I hate dancing and my parents find it very inappropriate for a muslim wedding). But I think this will be a lot of fun :D
And lastly....
I have found the dress I want to wear to Gretna Green :D Check it out, I think it's really pretty and I love the colour! I'll get a matching lace jacket because I'm not comfortable exposing so much back and arms.
I am also debating the pros and cons of a birdcage veil vs. no veil at all.
What do you guys think? ^__^

Well it's been a long time coming for this one. Basically in the days before Vividcon 2012 I marathoned Homeland in a day and fell in love with it. In the airport going to Vividcon, I heard this song and instantly realized it was the Carrie vidsong I was waiting for. The song is one of my favorite songs from Florence for the emotion and dynamics within it and I connected with it physically for how perfect it was for Carrie. I was so inspired, I started vidding the middle section during Vividcon. When Homeland S2 came back, it inspired me to keep vidding the song but I got sidetracked by my Swan Queen love and then Festivids. I started working on it again after Festivids but didn't end up finishing until before the VidUKon deadline. It was really great to work with a song with so much speed changes and get to vid something a little different from what I usually do. Especially fun is it's for one of my favorite characters ever, I had so much fun falling in love with Carrie all over again with this video.

After Katniss kills Coin, there is a great deal of chaos. She is pulled into the training center by Coin's people, and they don't allow visitors. Paylor takes over, creating a committee to get working toward a permanent government. Haymitch and several other people are on it, though Peeta is allowed to beg off. Meanwhile, Plutarch is able to hack into the cameras in the training center and get a visual to his production booth. Katniss feels completely isolated, and doesn't even see it when people come in to clean around her. Peeta tries to get a message through by sending an image of a dandelion to her video screens. She doesn't seem to notice it, until an hour later, when she starts to sing.
This isn't ending up quite fitting the continuity of "Songs of Victory."

The 2nd vid from B1A4 is also sweet enough to rot you teeth but the song itself IMO is more interesting. At least the bridge is really nice.

To begin: The problem with "I just really want to be your friend," the kind of philosophical rambling you have come to expect from Cleolinda Industries; I am officially threatening NBC with my wrath. Also, here's some fan street art that turned out really, really well.
Also, yes. Korea is very, very excited about this show.

Two songs from B1A4's current album are going to be my music spam for today. The first one is the most pointlessly pretty thing ever :) The song is the kind of light-hearted pop I seriously dislike but the vid has such density of "beauty" that it's sort of mesmerising :)
B1A4 - 걸어 본다 (TRIED TO WALK - Full ver.)
B1A4 - 걸어 본다 (TRIED TO WALK - Full ver.)
2nd title song from 2Pm's new album is more to my tastes than the 1st. Dance with chairs also sort of continues yesterday's Shinhwa theme: it was Shinhwa who started it in k-pop :) Junho is a superb dancer, Nichkhun isn't, which becomes painfully obvious when they do the same element. About the song itself, I must say that I like verses more than the chorus.
2PM_하.니.뿐. (A.D.T.O.Y.)

I'm back from my vacation on Crete, right into a new job. But I think I can find time and energy to spam a bit of new Korean music now. So here it begins.
Shinhwa, the oldest acting Korean boyband, one of the original idols, are back with "This Love". The song is banal and has lots of annoying electronic sound but I think I'm gonna love it anyway. Because I love Shinhwa, the best variety idols evah, to bits and pieces and this love sort of spreads to this song of theirs which I wouldn't listen to twice if it weren't theirs :)
Minwoo rules as a dancer and lol, the vid is filmed in a way to make it look like even Hyesung can dance. Which he really cannot >.> I think he has two left feet. Or two right ones.

Shinhwa - This Love
Haymitch, who has stumbled onto the idea that there is something wrong about the double-bombs, finds himself out of commission after discovering a stash of liquor has been delivered to his rooms. He doesn't exactly fight it -- the last thing he wants is to actually think about what he's starting to realize. Unfortunately, it puts him completely out of it when Katniss finds him, and he says exactly the wrong thing to her.
