Gah. I hate being sick. Springfest 2008 is today, but I'm too exhausted to go, which means I'll be missing out on free live music, free food, free games, and a FREE SLIP 'N' SLIDE. I'm violating the first rule of college: take advantage of anything free, especially if it involves food and entertainment.
Anyway, I think I'm going to make a habit of organising my posts like this.
My real life issues continue. Now I'm not sure if I want to pick up a second major in English or print journalism. It's just... gah. Both majors have their pros and cons. I feel like English won't lead me down a definitive career path (or give me much support if I should apply for an entertainment-related internship in the future), and I'm not really fond of a lot of the required classes. However, I know that English majors develop certain skills (critical reading, reasoning, analytical writing, etc.) that can be applied to a wide variety of fields. As for print journalism, I've never taken a journalism class and the application is a bitch, so I'm not sure if it's worth the risk. Plus the job market for journalism majors isn't exactly booming, even considering all the connections within the Trojan family. If I do decide to pursue a career in journalistic writing, I'm sure an English degree and a position on my school's newspaper (which I hope to secure next semester) will be sufficient.
I would really, really love to do something related to advertising and communication design, but USC only offers minors in those areas, and I don't want a double minor. I would also fail miserably at the marketing/business (econ? what? see, I don't even know what it's called) side of advertising. I know for sure that I'm not going to do anything related to psychology (but I might as well keep the major, since I only have a few more classes to go before I'm done with it), so I sort of need a second degree. At the same time, I can't afford to delay my graduation, because my scholarship only covers four years of tuition. I feel like I'm running out of time. I need to make a decision soon, but I have no idea what to do. It's driving me crazy. *stresses*
I knew I shouldn't have, but I couldn't resist. I had to go and Wikipedia Loveless ;_; Doing that made me realise that I never finished reading the manga because not all the volumes were translated during my anime/manga phase, which then led me to go find and download scanlations :( Now, instead of going out and enjoying the sunny, 80 degree weather, I'm going to spend the rest of the day sitting in bed, reading through all eight volumes of Loveless. AND IT WON'T STOP THERE. Because I know that once I'm finished with Loveless, I'll be tempted to go reread Furuba, and then rewatch Fushigi Yuugi, Gravitation, SAILOR FREAKING MOON, etc. This is bad. I don't have time to get back into anime. I should be spending the leisure time I do have on reading the
hd_worldcup fics.
Addictions die hard :(
(Speaking of addictions, I really want to rewatch QaF. But... I know that will DESTROY my GPA, so I'll wait until summer.)
I saw an advance screening of Forgetting Sarah Marshall on campus last night. It was so adorable, and of course, absolutely hilarious. It was great seeing members of Judd Apatow's cast back (Paul Rudd ♥ and I think I might prefer Jason Segel over Seth Rogan now), as well as a few new faces (Mila Kunis is GORGEOUS). Judd Apatow has a very special place in my heart, both because he makes kickass movies and because he went to my school :D
A student at NYU wants to interview me about HP fanfiction. More specifically, D/Hr fanfiction. I'm both amused and apprehensive. I'm not sure how I feel about discussing D/Hr. It's been so long since I even thought about it that I might say something incredibly stupid. Chances are I'll start referring to Hermione as Harry and fuck up the whole thing. Then again, I love being interviewed about fanfiction, so I might as well do it.
I'm finished with chapter 19 of SKOM! I'll post chapter 18 later today :)
As always, the obligatory advertisements:
ldws has a full roster! Yay! I'm so excited to start posting challenges.
avada_k and I were coming up with some the other day, but now it looks like we'll need to think of more, because neither of us expected to fill all twenty spots.
And the
hd_worldcup art posts for today are incredible. ARTISTS, YOU'RE MADE OF WIN ♥
*goes back to reading Loveless*
(LOL @ this line:
Yuiko: Ritsuka-kun is going out with a university student?
Soubi: No, we're not going out. We have a master/slave relationship.
I'm way too easily amused.)

-dies of fangirl joy-
Yeah, okay, so Hitsuzen brought us together as Yuuko-san of XXXHolic would say. Oh, my god! I love you! -glomps- I'm going to catch up on Loveles right after finishing Smile, You're on Camera. Ack! I can't believe this.
I have heard of Kyuo Kara Maou. Newm wants me to watch it. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but yeah. I guess I'll just have to if it's the H/D of anime.
I cannot belive this. Newm only ever watched the anime of Loveless and I just recently joined a bunch of Loveless groups because I am so in love with it. I can't believe this! Oh, happy day. hehe.
Seriously, where have you been all my life? hehe
Yay! Catch up so we can squee over how fantastic it is! I'm halfway through volume 6 right now. I have so much love for this manga right now. fjkwa; I don't want it to end :(
Yeah, Loveless is right up there with Fruits Basket as my favourite anime and manga of all time. KKM was pretty freaking INCREDIBLE until the last few episodes, which really disappointed me. It's not as shippy as it might seem, but it's got enough stuff in there to keep a slasher happy.
Hee, I'm so happy that you like Loveless too! :D
I watched like one episode of Fruits Basket, but I never watched more. I want to though.
Ugh, I just need to read volume eight and nine! -dies- I so don't want it to end. It's just so.... AMAZING! I love Soubi and Ritsuka and ahhhh! So fantastic. I watched the anime, but it was so... different, I was like... 'nani?'
I'm happy you like Loveless too! I saw your post and I was like... oh, I should read this and before I'd even read anything, I saw that you had mentioned Loveless and I was like. O_o Ohmygod!!!!!!!!! I died.
Omg, you definitely have to. Most people like the anime better, but I prefer the manga. It's really long and heartbreaking (I can't even remember how many times I cried when I watched/read it).
I saw the anime first and then I just started reading the manga after volume 4, where the anime cut off. Then I reread them from volume 1 yesterday and I was like, .......what? Definitely prefer the manga, though ♥
Ugh. I don't inderstand how people can like the anime better. It leaves so much out! It's so different! I only bought the anime because I'd started reading the manga. I after reading up to volume seven. I mean, I like the anime, but it's just not... enough. You know? I heard they might be doing a second season though from one of the Loveless LJ groups I'm in! I hope they do! It would make my day!
But yeah, I added that green_quill to my flist and left a comment. So hopefully, whoever it is, will take pity on my poor Loveless deprived soul! As it is, I need something to distract me from the pain that is wisdom teeth. These teeth bring not wisdom. They only bring pain. -dies-
