well, seeing that it's been a while since i've uploaded any new tunes, i decided to do a couple of quick beastie mixes. i was extremely lazy about this, and used music that i'm working on for another project. alive (lysergic downtempo mix) and root down (mellow mix) are available at acidplanet and soundclick. don't expect too much. in fact, if you just ignore them altogether you won't be missing out on much.

one of my b-boys remixes (body movin lymerick file) made it onto "the very best of beastieboys.com fan remixes" cd. i don't think it's been distributed yet, but you can hear the whole thing and see the cd artwork here. a small thing, but it makes me happy.

Current Mood: pure evil
well, i have just got to be one of the coolest muthfa fuckas around. the techno gods have looked favourably upon me this week. not only did i receive a gmail invitation, but i also got an invitation to the uber-exclusive orkut community.

so now that i've become an awesome force of affluence, i must decided how to wield this god-like power. i think i'll go troll some unsuspecting community and flaunt my wanton elitism.

Aug. 22nd, 2004 @ 02:12 am Metallica vs. the Beastie Boys
Current Music: Portishead - Over
So Thursday a friend of mine calls me and asks what I'm doing on Friday night. "Nothing," I say, "why, you wanna hang out?" Then he says, "I got an extra ticket for the Metallica show in Milwaukee, you wanna go?" I thought it was strange that he had tickets for the Milwaukee show since he lives in Chicago, but I didn't question it. I quickly replied in the affirmative before he decided otherwise. I later found out that he got the Milwaukee tickets cause they were about $20 cheaper than the Chicago show next weekend. Anyway, the show was incredible. I hadn't seen Metallica since '89. What was especially cool is that we were less than 15 feet from the stage. It was awesome...and free!

In other news, I'm currently doing a series of Beastie Boys remixes. So far I've done a mix of Ch-Check It Out which has an old school vibe to it; and Sure Shot, which is one of my favorites, which is well...different! My favorite mix of that song is the Prunes Mix off the Tour Shot import (it's on the US Sure Shot EP, but only in instrumental form.) So, rather than try to do the song in a style that's already been done (and likely fall horribly short,) I decided to take a completely new approach to it. The mixes are available for streaming or download at my ACIDplanet site. More mixes to come!

Aug. 12th, 2004 @ 04:01 am venting &c.
i ordered a eurorack ub802 mixer over a week ago, and it's still not in...i'm becoming impatient because i'm starting a new project (my first collaboration) and i don't want to start laying tracks until i get the new mixer. sigh...anyway, i'm pleased with the new remix contest on acidplanet - caroline lavelle - it was nice to have to think outside the 4/4 box that electronic music tends to put one in. not that anybody reads my music journal anyway, but if you've accidentally happened upon this, you can hear my take on lavelle's song here. i don't think it's the best mix, but not the worst either.

Last night I downloaded the trial version of Sony Vegas. This is my first attempt at VIDEO. It could certainly be better, but I bet you'll still be laughing harder at the content than at my video production ineptitude.
