My plan for tomorrow before work? Go to the DOL and request an address change so that by the time I'm moved my license will be correct that much sooner.
Good thing I checked the website for their hours of operation before I went out there early tomorrow.

Now I have to go downtown. Goddamn you, Seattle.
Goddamn you.

- There's been a mixture of being busy and being lazy going on with me as of late; my apologies for not getting the travel photos up here. I thought about posting the FaceBook album link here, but it will only send to e-mails, not publish to other websites.
- I Want This Shirt So Bad It Hurts. I always identified with the Yellow Ranger as a kid because she was a girl, but she wasn't a sissy like the Pink Ranger. Nevermind that the Yellow Ranger was a dude in the original. In America it was Trini, end of story. And her mascot was the fucking Saber Tooth Tiger. I also had a major crush on The Red Ranger, Jason. ♥
- In what's probably the biggest news in my life, I am not doing JET. I got in to JET as an alternate, meaning if someone who got in dropped the program, I would be called. I decided not to continue because you still have to pay all the fees and go through the extra paperwork as if you were going, with no guarantee that you ever will. On top of that, they can call an alternate anywhere from August-December, which essentially puts my life on hold for another 5-6 months, STILL with no guarantee. If that wasn't bureaucratic enough for you, if you sign up to be an alternate but then change your mind and drop/get another job, the paperwork explicitly said that you were jeopardizing any future relationship with the JET program. So I decided to make a clean break now.
- The most immediate news in my life goes along with this revelation about JET: I am looking for an apartment. I told myself that if JET did not work out, the next logical and "adult" step in my life would be to finally move out on my own. It's a little daunting. On Saturday I drove around for about 2 hours in the Ballard-ish area looking for "For Rent" signs. I called a couple places that same day, but so far only Loyal Realty has gotten back to me about a place that isn't my top choice from outside appearance of the apartment only. I'm really hoping that the others return my calls soon, even if it's only to tell me that the apartment has already been spoken for. That way I'm not just hanging.
- Even though I don't have my own apartment yet, I've been e-decorating it to occupy myself. This is my favorite LOLarious bathroom set so far: Behold The ~*MAJESTY*~. I would totally buy it if the joke wouldn't go stale in a week. XD
- I've been listening to sappy country music lately.

I tend to lurk on LJ a lot now a days. I get excited when I see new posts by my friends, yet I don't seem to find anything in my own life that seems amazingly entertaining enough to post here myself. This is basically an update for an update's sake. :)
- Life of a graduate is treating me well. I feel like a much better person mentally and physically; I'm not super stressed out anymore, I've been able to get back to my better eating mantra, I've been back to the gym more regularly, and I've actually been getting to bed around 10:00 most nights which makes for a better, more rested, and more refreshed me! School kills, kids.
- Speaking of, katylin came into work and gave me a very sweet graduation card (Thank you~!!) that made my day, and tonight I got a very cute graduation card and gift from Emily's folks. ♥
- I am reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. So far it's like most other modern Japanese novels I've managed to read: quirky, bizarre, supernatural, and even though I'm 200 or so pages in I'm not quite sure what the plot is yet.
- The cute little old Japanese man that gave me the dictionary loaned me a book called "The Impressions of Japan" which is basically the diary of this Irish/British man's travels in Japan as an English teacher. I'm going to keep it at the store so I can return it to him. I wrote him a note in Japanese thanking him for loaning it to me on my pretty cherry blossom stationary, so even if it's not a grammatically correct note, it will be appropriately seasonal and aesthetically pleasing. ^^;
- It dawned on me how quickly the Hawaii trip is approaching. I need to go buy shorts!
- LJ Crashed just as I attempted to post this. Maybe it's a sign in relation to my never posting?

It's FINALS week. Yesterday I turned in my Korean history essay on Lady Hyegyŏng and her role in historiography and the role of women in Korean history/society, so that leaves Japanese History and Japanese Literature.
The J-History final is an online-take home, which is nice because I have all my sources here, but he isn't putting the final up until 6:30PM tonight. He had told us it would be put up 24 hours before it's due (on Wednesday at 6:30PM), but for some reason my brain thought it would be available during the day today. I had planned to work on at least half of it before I went to work today at 3:00, so that way I could study for Japanese Literature when I came home and still go to bed at a decent time since the Lit final is at 8:30AM on Wednesday.
Instead, since the J-History final isn't available yet, I'm lounging. I'd rather be productive right now but alas. So I'll have to bite the bullet and come home from my 8:30AM final tomorrow and try and get the online final done before 3:00 when I go to work. Then I will be DONE FOREVER!
Also, Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my fellow Irish and honorary-Irish people!

- I am sick-ish again. -___- Finally got over my 2 week cold back in February only to have the new one hit just the other day. My left nostril is plugged, and my throat isn't sore, but I have a cough that happens randomly. I blame work for this one again; Christopher called in sick the other day, and Christina also was feeling poorly with a sore throat. If it's part of the whooping cough epidemic going around I will be displeased.
- I saw Watchmen tonight. It was good. I am in awe of the dedication to the original comic, so in that category it gets a great, but overall the movie was just good. Entertaining, but I'm not going to nerd-gasm over it. I ♥ Nite Owl.
- I officially booked a trip for HAWAII with Emily! We will be gone April 9th-16th. With the way the weather has been acting around here I. Can't. Wait.
- Health wise, I hope to get back into my diet and exercise more diligently then I have been lately, and I hope Hawaii will serve as motivation. I'm hoping to lose around 10lbs before we leave. If I'm super good, I think I can achieve that.
- 5 MORE DAYS OF INSTRUCTION OF COLLEGE LEFT!!

My alarm clock didn't go off today. I was pissed because I genuinely was going to go to class and start the whole, "finish school on a strong note" thing. Missing class today has made me feel completely lazy and useless. At the same time, whenever I'm in class I literally feel my life eking away from me. Thinking of how long I've been juggling work and school has left me mentally exhausted and realizing how close I am to the finish doesn't help. It's not even that I hate work - I'd be happy putting my energy into something I think is worthwhile - and school doesn't feel like it is at this point.
There are only 14 more days left.

- I am sick. I think I got it from Cole at work. It hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday, and today I'm still feeling pretty icky so I called in sick to work. It's the standard runny nose/sore throat deal.
- This week was midterms. I did my Literature midterm yesterday, then spent the afternoon writing up my Korean history class take home midterm. Today was the midterm for Japanese history. I went through an entire packet of travel Kleenex during the 2 hours alloted for the test. I'm sure the kid sitting next to me was less than pleased. Haha. For as much slacking as I did up until this point, I feel fairly confident about all of them.
- 8 days until my JET interview. I need to go get my suit pressed.
- 23 more days of school. Holy shit.
- I get to watch Evanne's hampster Nibbler while she's on vacation in Hawaii and I am very excited about it!
- Tomorrow I'm going somewhere ~*fancy*~ for dinner and get to dress up. Ooo lah lah.

- I have Senioritis bad. I skipped school on Thursday and Friday. So much of me is thinking - "Only two more months! Don't give up yet!" - but we all know how that fight goes.
- I went to Rudy's and got my hair freshened up. I have real bangs again!
- My 23rd birthday is in 9 days. 23 on 02/03! ~*MAGICAL*~
- The JET Program official web page posted an Update: If you applied for the 2009 JET Program, you will be able to check your status on this page very soon - by January 30th, at the latest. We are doing all that we can to get this information to you as soon as possible and thank you for your patience. So I'll be finding out if I made it to the interview round soon.

JAPAN 322 - Early Modern Japanese Literature The prof. for this class is a cute little Japanese lady who seems friendly and relaxed. We'll be reading people like Saikaku, Basho, and Bakin to name some of the most famous writers of this time. I also know three people in this class which is nice. It's also the first early morning class I've had in quite awhile. While getting up at 7AM is always kind of blah, I do prefer getting in and out of school quickly. I'm only on campus till 10:20 on MWF for this class and that leaves my afternoons open. :)
HSTAS 421 - History of Early Japan I've taken the traditional history classes for this, of course, but this is a higher level course and thus a little more in depth. Instead of reading chronological-history texts we'll be reading The Pillow Book and the Taiheki, which are considered more literary (especially The Pillow Book). The prof. spent a long time in his introduction today explaining that reading these kind of histories written by the people of time will help expand and deepen our knowledge and help us understand the complexities of how one actual writes on history. It sounds pretty interesting and fairly fun, but again, it's a lot of reading...
HSTAS 481 - History of Korea I took this class at the 200 level my very first quarter at the UW, so I have a vague sense of what will be going on in the higher level. The prof. is a sweet, petite Korean lady who made a point of saying she studied for her PhD at the UW with the most "preeminent Western Korean History scholar" back in the day. I like history, so I think it will be fun, and surprise! Shittons of reading. Don't be surprised if I end up bitching about how much reading I have to do for this quarter later on.
With these two higher division history classes I will qualify for a history minor before graduating(!) in March.

Why the HELL is it snowing?! Tomorrow is the first day of school, and I am not having this shit.
The UW doesn't close for jack, so most likely I get to trudge in the slush to the bus stop and campus tomorrow at 8AM. Not to mention the fact that just today, dad and I WD40'd my chains so they wouldn't get all rusty, and if for any reason this snow sticks around and I have to put the chains back on... let's just say it won't be pretty.

I usually don't have any strong feelings about the New Year. But this time I really do feel that I am on the verge of something great. I can't tell if it will be a positive greatness or a terrible one, yet. But 2009 is going to be big.
Happy New Year. :)
