_ohlyrrad's Journal  sometimes it is nice to go through life while slightly fatigued. I know it doesn't sound healthy, but it's similiar to having just woken up from a deep sleep. not quite sleepiness, though if left alone in a passive position, one will doze off, but a sort of general tiredness. it's positive tiredness, not the incredibly debilitating type that makes you not able to do anything. i think it's what being stoned feels like. you have to be just tired enough to be rather out of it, but not tired enough to zzzzzzzzzzzz. in this state, thinking is slowed down, naturally, but it feels very restful not to think about much. interestingly enough, listening to the right type of music while one is in this state can be cathartic. nothing too loud or wild, of course, but something that fits the mood. I was listening to this track whilst returning to school from OCS. actually, I was waking up while listening to it, because I'd been sleeping on the bus while listening to music. in my sleepy state, it was very moving, but calming. in other news, I have also been listening to Seikan Hikou a lot. that was before I watched the episode where Ranka does the kira~h move. then I watched it, and now I listen to it even more. on hindsight (i did other stuff and then came back and looked at this before posting it), this is pretty banal. ): oh well, c'est la vie. I'm actually very glad I didn't do the cogito ergo sum essay for blocks, because I have absolutely no idea how to write the damn thing. Though I also have to redo the scientific method of inquiry one, and that's another case of banging my head against a wall. And the econs essay(s).  I can't seem to get any work done. (maybe wasting time on stuff like this has something to do with it...nah.) In other news, the next season of anime seems to be picking up. Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is good, obviously. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu has been trolling for 4 eps of Endless Eight so far, it remains to be seen how long they're going to keep pissing off viewers like this. Bakemonogatari is a little weird, but interesting. Very Shaft-y. Chin Jieh said it reminded him of XXXholic, and I must say I agree with him. GA is much like Hidamari Sketch, visual Prozac that's based off a 4koma. There needs to be at least one of these per season, it seems. (Last season's was K-On!) Watched ep 1 of Canaan, it didn't really interest me. To each their own, I guess. Haven't watched Umineko no Naku Koro ni yet, either. Judging from what Bowie told me about fail direction, I probably won't bother. Played Warcraft III with Chin Jieh and Chin Liang last night, and the easy AI keeps owning us horribly. Even when we played with a normal AI ally, the easy AI killed it and then killed us. Is there something I'm not getting here? Why is the easy AI better than the normal AI? I recently finished watching Mushishi. It's pretty unique in that it's not exactly action-packed or emotionally charged, yet each episode is somehow touching. The concept of 'mushi', beings that resemble natural phenomena but have sentience, are used as a storytelling device, or as a means of exploring human nature. The soundtrack is excellently done, too. Subtle, yet beautiful.   YOUNG MAN, DO YOU HAVE A VALID EXCUSE? So I was testing this focused burn deck that I'd been working on for awhile on Magic Workstation to see if the changes I'd recently made were any good. (I put in Thunderblust and Soul's Fire, cut some other random stuff) Game 1: My opponent and I go back and forth on life totals and spells until he taps out to attack me and I win with Thunderblust. Game 2 is more interesting. I make the wrong play at one point, where he has Elvish Visionary and Noble Hierarch, both untapped (and Liliana Vess at 6 counters), and I have Thunderblust and 5 lands untapped. He is at 8-ish life, and is tapped out. Cards in hand: Mountain, Volcanic Fallout. Relevant cards in graveyard: Flame Jab. What I should have done: Volcanic Fallout to clear the board, and let my Thunderblust persist, then swing for the win, with the ability to retrace Flame Jab if need be. What I did: Retrace Flame Jab to kill the Hierarch, then attack with Thunderblust, making him chump block with Elvish Visionary, then Volcanic Fallout to 'untap' Thunderblust so I'd have a blocker next turn. I should have lost on his turn, as he could have animated both Villages and hit me, but he didn't. The game went on a bit from then, with me suspecting that I was going to die pretty soon, but then interesting stuff happened. We wound up at 4 life each, with him dropping Nath of the Gilt-Leaf before ending his turn. I drew my card for the turn (Relic of Progenitus) and played it, leaving me with an empty hand. Since it wasn't a gamebreaker, my opponent asked "gg?", and I was left to contemplate my only out: Sacrifice the Relic to draw a card, and hope that it's the one card in my deck that can end it there and then. I sacrificed it, leaving me with 3 mana up. What did I draw?   JUST AS KEIKAKU (keikaku means plan) Yes, I won. My opponent was not as amused as I was. Yes it was baawwwwwwwesome not just because of the Fuko end either  Other things that can be considered baawwwwwwseome: Lucky Star 22, the scene with Kanata AIR, especially the scene where Aozora plays Kanon...though this one's rather iffy, it was just extremely depressing when I watched it the first time Clannad (the first season) for pretty much the same reason as After Story and yet i don't have much to say three years+ without posting is pretty long, though (not counting those posts i made in trashy eats) I have watched Advent Children at least once every day since I got it on my laptop. Current mood:  OD'ed on FF.
Well that was a long hiatus. I'd assume no one actually reads this, but I'm bored and was on LJ anyway. EC3 camp = 2 days of insanity. Want to know how insane? http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c138/O THAT insane. Well actually it was worse, but large doses of gaming helped. The focus of the camp this year was more on bonding that IT stuff, but... Getting headshotted/ganked in CS/DotA respectively doesn't help much when it comes to relationships. (It was worth it, however, to see Susan Hao get killed by Benchamin.) To get an accurate picture of what standard gameplay was like...imagine Final Fantasy(on my part) meets Mario(Phang and Xingkai) meets Mega Man(Wang) meets EC3(SZH and Bench) meets t3h 1337 h4xx0r5(FOO, SIHENG, KAHMENG, LIBO, KEVIN) meets the club fool.(LYJ, in case you don't already hate him.) I'll go work on a poster depicting the above in a while. Might be tough, though, since I don't possess Adobe Photoshop at home. Yes, i actually do need it to do anything that resembles work. Zhihao had better be a good skill trainer or that'll be 5 gold 6 copper gone for Photoshop Knowledge (Journeyman) gone. In chronological order, however, the camp was kind of like a doomed business venture. First day, we went out and ran around Singapore to do weird stuff. My group's first stop: DDR AT DAWN! Not really, but we had to dance like retarded monkeys to try and beat Zhansheng's score at an arcade. And then get totally wtf'd by Foo. Second stop: We got screwed over by LYJ. Ran around Sim Lim Square to collect fliers, but for some reason no one wanted to give them out. Then Lan was like:" You must answer me these questions three." One: What is Pak's real name? Pak Shu Hwa Two: What is Pak Rocks day? We didn't know this one, but it's apparently some mythical day when Pak defeated 7 players in Starcraft. And it was 7 v 1 Three: Spell Ilango Broomcrappity. That's not the real name we were aske to spell, but it certainly sounded like it. And then we stopped for lunch. A few more groups stopped by, and were given the same task by LYJ. And then Daniel's group stops by. And totally alienates us all. They collated all the fliers collected by the three members of his group: LYJ:Whoa, 67, you beat the last group.) Daniel: Wait, I think I have some more in my bag. Long story short: he did. He had enough, in fact, to get a total of 100+ fliers, the highest of them all. ZOMG. Then we went to Funan, and ran around looking for Benchoi. He was in Mcdonalds being invisible. We ended up taking lamecrap photos that somehow matched the descriptions he gave us, and then we all taxi'ed home(school). And we reached school at the same time as Phang and gang! And then I think we ended up gaming for a while. Or we went for PT. Which was basically some crap not worth mentioning other than LYJ rendering most of us sterile with his superman shiz. Oh, and there was some other stuff in the morning, namely Xingkai watching Teen Titans on Phang's laptop and us having to go around the school and try to find 'doomdevice' with wireless thingies. We somehow got the signal above KKH even though it was all the way at Block C, around LT2. wtf. And then after bathing we gamed some more. And then they screened a lameshit copy of a copy of a bootleg of the Exorcist. And Sec 1s and 2s got dragged out midway due to THE OMGWTFBBQ SOLO NIGHT!! Mak talked to us about some EC3 related stuff and then told us to be scared. Not in those exact words, but yeah. HCI is scaaaaary. My solo night position: Bottom of a stairwell, facing the wall. Though I didn't know it, I was apparently the closest to Kah Kee Hall, the most dirty place in HCI. Well mamma-fricking-mia! I sat there with my body getting sore because I couldn't lean against the wall behind me, and my butt getting bruised. Seriously, I could feel my bones pressing into my poor butt. The Solo Night was held from 2-4, but I thought it was from 12-2. My internal clock is screwed. It wasn't that scary, though. Mainly because I kept my eyes on the ground in front of me, and kept singing hymns in my head. The perfect mix of insanity/religion, and it kept me unscared for the whole 2 hours. But then the cats had to start their bitching(irony) and I ended up asking God to shut them up. And they did! It was at that time that I was struck by a ZOMG revelation. FAITH IS LIKE A KATAMARI BALL! Why do I say this? Because a LONG while after that, I got it in my head to do the same IMBA trick I pulled with the cats and start praying for the rest to come. And then Mak appeared with his flashlight. And then we all went back and all was well. And then we went to sleep. Second day: We woke up. We slacked. I went to watch Teen Titans with Xingkai and co. while others did slacker-ish stuff. And then we had a game of DotA! I took Terrorblade and did pretty well until Siheng and his evil timing first blooded me. Tiny has too much damage. And Xingkai used his uber evil SUICIDE TECHIES ZOMG to kill us. Not much, but he did get some kills. And he was level 2 when the rest of us were like level 6-7. Later, when Siheng got IMBA'er, he stayed small until he pushed up to out base, and while Libo and Kevin were defending, he GREW THREE SIZES. That is SCARY. And he killed 5 creeps with one attack. Battle Fury and Tiny's gay attack power is evil. Then LYJ comes into out base with 8 images as PL and gets his ass handed t him by Kevin. Or Libo. I don't remember which. But the stupidest thing I did was to tank LYJ with 6 images and 4 creeps. As expected, I died almost immediately. I didn't even get to Sunder. Can't remember how the game ended... but I think we went back to CS afterwards. Then Mak called an end to slacking and made us go to the front. Nezt challenge= own. LAN YINGJIE DEFACEMENT!!!111ONEONE That's how the weirdness you see up there came to be. People say it reminds them of Termaknator, but i was actually trying to rip Jak and Daxter 2. Note the ears. But the most crazy one was Libo's one. He made LYJ a woman. I kid you not, he removed LYJ's glasses and gave him whore-hair. Scary . So we worked on that for a while. Then we went back to gaming. Then we went for PT which was BADMINTON!!!! Not everyone had rackets, however, and we had no shuttlecocks. But Luheng supplied stuff and we were happys. Badminton is sort of like being in an Advent Children fight. You either plan your next move, or just go for the target and hope you connect, or rely purely on reflex. Mak is just pure imba. He hits the first ball you serve so far back you have to run to hit it, then he serves a very weak shot to just get over the net while you're at the back of the court.): Me and Phang went up against Siheng and Xingkai, and they used EC3 Fantasy Tactics. Siheng: Alright, this is a bossfight! *he and Xingk take up cool poses and he serves* *I smash it past both of them* Anti-climax FTW. and then we went back to the Annex and I played KINGDOM HEARTS!!!! Hikari is good to sing along to. Xingkai made me do some weird stuff later on. Then we went out for dinner. Then we went back, and Siheng was 'charitable'. His wallet was open all the way until we reached the bus stop back to school, and then he and Kahmeng ran back to reclaim money. Then we went back and gamed. From then on it was pure gaming, even though they screened a movie. AND I ATE A CUP AND BOWL OF NOODLES!!! HAHAHA HAWKER CENTER FOOD. I LAUGH AT YOU. And then we had another game of DotA. I was somehow possesed to pick Chen, even though I have nearly no idea how to play him. And though I put points into Persuasion the map hated me and wouldn't give me good spawns. Just crap like Ogres and Satyrs. And then I got ganked by Libo and Kevin. But in the end Chen's pushing powers with Mekansm and RoB prevailed, and we pushed into their base to finish them off. But Xingkai and Joel were letting themselves be free frags. Even when we shout" OMG JOEL RUN RUN YOU WILL BE GANKED" he just sits there and farms some more. ADVENT CHILDREN WAS SCREENED! I got Siheng to transfer it to my laptop as well, so now I can watch it whenever I like! (And I have been watching it obsessively.) Later when we were all trying to sleep, Mak played a recording that was meant to give you pitch perfect hearing. But I ended up wondering if I could do the same trick that I did with the cats on it.ie; SHUT UP ALREADY! And then I realized that I hadn't bathed. So I woke up the next morning and went to the gym(after Zhihao told me it was ok)to shower. And it was closed. So I ended up going to Poolside. Then I went back for a debriefing and judging of pictures. My picture was second place, which was...surprising. Then we went to Prince's at Coro for brunch and then we broke camp. And went home. |
