This journal is owned by [info]kirane, a proud French citizen. Age 23, ugh. It features several existing and soon-to-be ball-joint dolls. It includes photos, background info, general BJD talks, wishes, sells and auctions, etc. It mainly focuses on a Blue Fairy Jerome, named Chiara (bjd site: Wire & String). You will occasionally read blahblah about a certain "Gaara", who will most likely be a customized Dreaming Lishe from Luts and who's currently [info]kirane's top priority (after appartment rent, food and bills that is). There is a second existing doll, a Dream of Doll Pitts named Héloïse Pentecôte & owned by my friend Sandra. Digital camera, photoshop and love for LJ being [info]kirane's, let's take it as a collaboration between two friends :D

Information about ball-joint dolls

Ball-joint dolls (BJD) are Asian dolls, entirely articulated as well as entirely customizable. That's what makes them so attractive. There are dolls of different sizes from about 45cm to 60cm. Classification is made after the Japanese firm, Volks' products, but most manufa-cturers are Korean. The dolls are handmade with resin and painted; that is why they are expensive (I've paid more than my monthly rent) and the delivery is very long (from 1 to 2 months). But the pleasure compensates all the pain because it's easy to make your doll completely unique. An important side market offers adapted clothes, wigs, eyes and furnitures. But a lot of owners express their creativity by designing and making their own accessories without the use of such manufactured items. It's the occasion for BJD own-ers to develop their photo skills and webdesign abilities because one of the keypoints of the hobby is to share info and pictures (basically to compliment each other). A community is developing around BJDs gathering people from all over the world. People meet at exhibitions, trade customization advices and create 'family' of dolls with unique background and temper. Collecting BJDs is a very interesting hobby as it includes more than the dolls themselves: the development of a personal creativity and a certain sociability.
