| | Lepaca Kliffoth- Therion | ] | As busy as I've been with work (and extra shifts that have been getting in the way of other things) it is the small victories that make these things worth while. For the past 3 days (at least) I have tried to catch and destroy the same 2 flies in my workplace. I have repeatedly sprayed them with Raid (I think it was making them bigger though) and they were frequently bashed, hit and stepped upon but always managed to make a quick getaway under some shelving or something. We have even had customers go after them in frustration when they landed on the back of their ears (this is what I have had to deal with for 8 hours at a time for the past week) only for the flies to zip off taunting them.
Today I managed to end them both by accident. One with a donut box, the other with a sandwich. Victory is mine.
Also: I think that Darran is right, Aquafina is just garden hose water. At least that is what it tastes like. |

In two days, at 7:30 or so PM, Lacuna Coil is playing. Here. In Winnipeg. At the Marlborough. I have no idea what genre TicketMaster groups them in, and this is the reason why they only showed up when I happened to decide to randomly browse all the events for the next two months. I occasionally check the Hard Rock/Metal section (and sometimes a few others for curiosities sake) for anything that may be interesting; but alas, for Lacuna Coil apparently being of some unknown genre. The truly frustrating part is that there are still tickets available for a mere $20, and I work on Tuesday night. I don't know who else there is that I know who'd want to see them AND have the time off on Tuesday night, but I guess now it's out there in case anyone would and could go see this. In other news, I am gradually becoming stuffed up. I suspect that I am also now getting that monster cold that many people are complaining about, but still going out and socializing and working with regardless. Thanks guys! -note sarcasm-
Actually, it should have occurred to me that the concert is at 7:30 and I work at 11 at night. Realistically I could probably catch some of it, if not all. I shall call the venue and see if they can estimate a running time. Another plus, is that now I have tea. Strange hibiscus tea that my mother found somewhere in the house. If it is stale, then I shall make my normal anise tea. |

| | Granite Wall - Bolt Thrower | ] | "Out of the Microwave... Recently one of my friends, a computer wizard, payed me a visit. As we were talking I mentioned that I had recently installed Windows on my PC, I told him how happy I was with this operating system and showed him the Windows CD. Too my surprise he threw it into my microwave oven and turned on the oven. Instantly I got very upset, because the CD had become precious to me, but he said: 'Do not worry, it is unharmed.' After a few minutes he took the CD out, gave it to me and said: 'Take a close look at it.' To my surprise the CD was quite cold to the touch and it seemed to be heavier than before. At first I could not see anything, but on the inner edge of the central hole I saw a inscription, an inscription finer than anything I have ever seen before. The inscription shone piercingly bright, and yet remote, as if out of a great depth: 4F6E65204F5320746F2072756C65207468656D20616C6C 2C204F6E65204F5320746F 2066696E64207468656D2C0D0A4F6E65204F5320746F20 6272696E67207468656D20 616C6C20616E6420696E20746865206461726B6E657373 2062696E64207468656D 'I cannot understand the fiery letters,' I said. 'No but I can,' he said. 'The letters are Hex, of an ancient mode, but the language is that of Microsoft, which I shall not utter here. But in common English this is what it says:' One OS to rule them all, One OS to find them, One OS to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."
The internets are so full of fun things. |

| | Mask of Flies- Battlelore | ] | The time again for an update is here (take that sentence structure, Narielle!). I have made what few entries that have somewhat personal things in them friends-only. Those who are on teh appropriate list should see no difference (if you're actually looking). Any casual readers of this (I honestly do lol at the very notion; if any such entities exist, please post a reply and say your hullo's!) will no longer see any entries with more or less personal content (with the occasional exception of things that happen to be of no significance and also in the same entries as things intended to be public). If you has a journal and want to see the more restricted entries, by all means add me and say hello, and so long as I see no reason to object, I will certainly add you. I have no qualms about making new friends, or keeping in touch with friends of friends.
I am now working (again). Working the night shift at 7-11, in fact; a very pleasant and unstressful job with the lovely perk of being pretty much at liberty to do as I please with any written off merchandise (not that I am at liberty to write things off to take :P). School = done. This is good. School is frustrating and somewhat stressful. Not my favorite thing, no matter how much I may enjoy and/or be interested in whatever courses I am taking.
I have proven to be completely correct in my prediction that the forthcoming albums for this year (the ones I hadn't heard long in advance of their release dates, at least :D) would be full of awesome. Having a new job clearly is a big help in this department. New Dimmu, Finntroll, Machine Head, and all the others that I've been waiting for (or in some cases surprised to find that they had new albums) are totally and thoroughly saturated with cool. Still waiting on the new Megadeth (and In Flames as well as Iced Earth later this year, or early next perhaps :D), but no doubt it'll rank as well. I shall have to look for leaked media, muahahahaha. Equally awesome is having real retail copies of some of the albums that I had e-copies of and was practically wearing the plastic out on the backup discs I had made containing them. Mmmm, Battlelore. Who knew a band so geeky could be sooooo good?
Related: Lee, I will now get to burning those discs for you since I have access to the computer again. I shall put surprises on them for you, since I only showed you about 1/8th of what I'd hoped to when we hung out and you gave me CDs for burning music onto. :)
What else it new? Very little of note. Perhaps the fact that I am once again semi-nocturnal, however this time this is actually useful with regards to my working schedule so no one can complain that I'm asleep when they're up in the household. :) I love night time. When it gets warmer I shall certainly wander about outside on nights when I'm not working, or perhaps zip around on my blades. I think that Dusk and Dawn are my favorite times of the day, and I plan to take advantage of my schedule so as to be present for both from time to time.
That is all. |

| | None :( | ] | Many of you know, and for those who don't... I am on yet another "enforced computer hiatus." This is the reason for which I am not present on any messaging devices. That being said, for related and unrelated reasons I will be transforming this journal from a more public type to a mostly more "friends-only" one, past and future entries included. I suppose that one could call this a kind of official notice for those who read what little I write and don't have journals of their own to make them if they want to (I can only think of two such possible people); and those who have journals and do the same to add me (I will do likewise so long as if I don't know who you are, you tell me. :P)
On a more positive note, being busy with class and possible job possibilities (it really is very much that concrete) is quite conducive to being in a technologically un-connected state unlike certain recently "born-again technophiles" (Some would say technopheliacs.) I am wearing pants, much to the apparent relief of (most of the) the other students using terminals up here. This is good. |
