Starting weight: 186.8 lbs Current weight: 172.2 lbs Last weeks weight: 174.4 Change: -2.2 lbs Total loss: 14.6 lbs
I am quite surprised at the results.
Yesterday, I got my period, and I thought it would doom me in terms of water weight, but apparently I'm not that bloated :D
I could do without the cramps though :(
14.6 lbs isn't too shabby, considering I started September 9th.
I'm also reeeeeeallly close to getting into the 160's. I am going to be so excited because my healthy weight is 158 lbs, so only 14.2 lbs to go, and 42.2 lbs left until I reach my goal weight.

I'm single now. After 10 months, we "ended things on mutual terms, because its for the better". Religion got in the way. He knows I would never be happy with him unless he were jewish. He said it was so hard to do because we still love each other.
I've had family members pass away, but I have never felt a pain like this before. It hurts to breathe. I cried myself to sleep, had dreams of him and then started crying once I woke up again.
I was going to try to go to the gym but I honestly dont think I can hold myself together long enough.
I dont care about anything, I just want him back.

Hello, today was my first day going to the gym! First I did elliptical, then bike, then elliptical again, and then treadmill, I went for about an hour. I really really feel good right now :), I went from 6 15 - 7 20, and I hear thats good for jump starting your metabolism :).
Although does anyone see anything wrong with my short routine:
Go to Gym Eat Breakfast
Should I be eating breakfast before or after, I've heard it both ways . . Eating before you burn off the calories, and breakfast is great for your metabolism aswell. But I heard if you dont eat breakfast before then you burn off the food from the day before (which I need because I get off work and eat then . . about half an hour before bed), and if you eat breakfast then youre just relying on that.
Sorry if I'm rambling here, ha. Just would like to know what you guys think, I dont even know if I could eat breakfast that early ha.
Thankyou . .and if you dont recognize me I was that person with the christopher walken picture

| Week 1 Weigh in |
[06 Oct 2008|08:11am] |
HW/SW: 192 CW: 187.2
Yay, I lost 4.8 pounds this week! I've been counting calories and I cut out pop and coffee from my diet. I'm very proud of myself because i LOVE pop. I used to be able to put down a 12 pack of pop a day. (that was years ago).
Any way... I'm going to planet fitness today to join so I can start working out after work. I have an hour and a half to kill between getting off work and picking up my husband at the train station. What's better to do than go work out!? Once i start getting into a workout regime I'll probably up my calories to 1500 or 1600 a day. Last week because I wasn't working out I was trying to stay around 1200 and 1300 calories.

| Staying positive... |
[06 Oct 2008|09:00am] |
Hey guys! I hope everyone's doing well. I have not been! Food-wise I've been okay, but I've been working 14-hour shifts at the restaurant where I work for several days in a row now. Unfortunately, by the time I get home, I'm so exhausted that I have no energy to workout. I set the alarm early to give myself time for a workout...but I am always way too tired to get up! Between the 14-hour day and my hour-long commute, I barely have time to get in enough sleep (let alone get anything done!).
To top it all off, since this week was my birthday and the birthday of another girl I work with, they made us a huge sushi cake last night, AND we had some sake and beer. I didn't make my calorie goal, but I don't think I overate either, so I'm glad about that much! But it's just been really frustrating...I feel my body going through exercise-withdrawal!
But I'm staying positive; I'm doing a good job at keeping my calorie intake in-check and eating healthy, and I KNOW that I will be working out a lot as soon as I have a chance (hopefully everyday for the rest of the week, once I finish up with my shift tomorrow), because I really MISS working out! (Has anyone else been thrown off by the suddenly chilly weather? It makes it that much harder to get up and go for a run!)
The good news is that I don't USUALLY work this much (usually only two 14-hour shifts back-to-back, and then two 8-hour shifts), so hopefully next weekend won't be as bad. I'll also hopefully have a job at a gym near my restaurant by next weekend, in which case I can get in a quick workout during my break! The other good news is that this has made me realize how awesome exercise really is- it keeps me emotionally balanced, and it makes eating healthy easier! And it's "me" time...I really love it, and I'm going to make it even MORE of a priority now!
So how do you guys stay positive about eating right and working out when LIFE throws you off?

So, after my binge yesterday I woke up with a magical and horrifying 5 pound gain. How wonderful. I'm aware, that it can't be 5 "real" pounds though. The good thing is: I feel so sick I won't be able to eat much today. And tomorrow, I'll be back on track with my exercises and calorie limit. 165 lbs till november the 3rd. I can do it.

I weighed in another pound down this morning, which puts me at goal!
Now I'm off on holiday for two weeks to lie around on the beach in a bikini. I'm fairly sure I'll see that pound again when I get back, though!

| Hi, I'm new... sort of. |
[05 Oct 2008|11:59pm] |
1. What is your LiveJournal user name? heycarrotjuice! 2. What is your name? Jessy 3. What is your current weight? Highest weight? Currently at my highest weight, roughly 260lbs. 4. How tall are you? 5'6" and shrinking. 5. How much weight do you want to lose? 100+... I think I'd look fab at 150-160lbs. 6. How long have you been overweight? My entire life. 7. What kind of methods of weight loss have you tried? Oh, my! I've been dieting since I was a child, due to my mother's insecurities about herself. Let's see. I've tried: the Atkins diet, South Beach diet, liquid diet, Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and good old fashioned exercise. My eating habits have always been terrible. I make the right food choices a majority of the time but I can't seem to eat at scheduled times and most of all, I have a hard time remembering to eat. I can go until 5 or 6pm without eating with no problem at all. This of course leads me to become hungry again at ridiculous times, like 3am or something. 8. How old are you? 22 9. Are you married? Nope. 10. Do you have any children? Nope. Fortunately though, I've never been asked "when are you due?" 11. What are you hoping to get out of this community? Inspiration! I love seeing how successful others are. 12. Do you have anything to add? ( Why, yes I do! )

| OUCH! |
[06 Oct 2008|05:08pm] |
I HATE when you get nasty food shocks! I was just putting my food for today into my food diary to work out how many calories I had left to play with for dinner, because I'm meant to be going to a thai restaurant. I'd snacked on some liquorice and didn't really pay attention to it, thinking it was okay.
The liquorice was 250 cal! I'm horrified that I ate it so mindlessly, without realising how bad for me it is - I could've eaten an apple and a banana, and felt much more satiated by them!
The only saving grace is that I swam laps this morning, and walked around DFO (it's kind of like a mall, but full of factory outlet stores) for about 3 hours, so I would've burnt some calories that way. But I'm definitely kicking myself, I won't be snacking on that again!
So I'm just wondering - what are some other foods that people have been really caught out on? I mean, thought that they were a lot better for them than they turned out to be. Give me a list of other danger snack-traps to avoid!

So I wrote my intro post last night, but I didn't mention that I'm thinking of joining Weight Watchers.
I thought I'd ask how many of you have had experience there, and if you would share with me your thoughts on joining? I'm just worried that if I go it alone, I'll give up.
Also, can anyone suggest good strength training work that is unlikely to put stress on my shoulders? I ask because they're double jointed, and pop out of their sockets frequently and easily, and while it doesn't hurt and I can put them back in, it's just not good to have them doing it any more then necessary.
Thank you in advance!

Sorry if I'm being a post hog =[ I just keep coming up with more and more questions.
But, once I start my diet can I what - never eat junk food or drink a single soda again?
Honestly, lately I'll do good on my diet and walk and do all my exercises and eat healthy food. Then I have one stinken soda even a DIET SODA. Or one stinken cookie or a bag of doritos and waBAM! All the weight comes right back.
I don't understand? Even before when I was at 165 (I'm now back at 170-174) I would drink soda (like 8 cans in a day sometimes) and I wouldn't necessarily eat junk food but it was processed food. I only walked 30 min a day.
And I still kept the weight off. So explain to me why I keep going back and forth NOW?
I'm sorry, but I want to be able to still eat a hersheys chocolate bar once in a while Or drink my favorite drink vault.
Crap....I might as well just stay FAT.

I've gone completely out of control for the past 3 days. I'm eating as though I'm a hoover vacuum. I tried to vomit multiple times, but stopped myself (I'm a recovering bulimic); only to encounter overeating and overeating and overeating over and over again.
I'm upset that I might've gained weight. I'm a hypothyroid and that makes me extremely paranoid.
How do I find the confidence to get back on track D: ?

I've starved once, and now I'm in the cycle of healthy weight loss and starving, and i always gain the weight back. :( I'm trying to lose weight the healthy way (I want to do weight watchers, but kind of ashamed of how big i am now), but I don't know how many calories I should eat.
I've tried 1300 before and it's worked, but I can never seem to stay on target for more than a few days at a time.
Now I'm trying to start up again (tomorrow will be my starting date) and I'm seriously trying to do this the healthy way. (:
Any tips?

| WW Core |
[05 Oct 2008|10:13pm] |
Hello All!
I posted a couple weeks ago about the WW Core program to see if anyone else was participating. Just wanted to give a quick update. This is my second week and it is amazing! I am never hungry! I love being able to eat as much as I need to feel satisfied. I'm inserting the link where I get my recipes from.. even if you're not on WW, they still taste good! And also my weight loss ticker (I'm not sure if it will work right, but cross your fingers!)
Hope everyone is doing well!

When do you guys completely forget about your diet/program and do you feel bad about it when you do?
This past weekend I went home to have my birthday dinner. Luckily I visited on the correct weekend and I got to celebrate the Pens opener with a household of people who actually cared, got to watch the Pittsburgh 250th birthday fireworks (which were AMAZING) and got to eat at Primanti Brother's, because I needed to finish the trip of with the ultimate Pittsburgh cliche. I suppose I didn't do anything that bad...but still, I didn't take anything into consideration AT ALL. Mostly because it was my birthday and one of the few times I get to be in my favorite city in the whoooole wide world.
And the best part? It's all over, and I don't feel the slightest bit bad about it. In fact, my official birthday starts in about two hours and Imma have me a birthday brownie.
Do you guys cut loose sometimes too? I can only hope that you do.

| Ballet |
[05 Oct 2008|09:14pm] |
I know I said I don't exercise, but I feel like I should get some in.
Anyways, one of my things is ballet. I would never be able to afford it, but I still would like to do it, so I've been thinking about in home instructional dvd's.
I found the New York City Ballet workout, and some other dvd's that would probably be good.
I'm not looking to be serious or anything like that, just something fun that will give me a workout.
Does anyone else do this already? thoughts?

I went for a swim - for a bit of backstory, I never really learnt how to swim properly. I live in Australia, really close to some of the most amazing beaches in the world, and the weather is pretty much perfect for swimming most of the year round, but I never really got into it because I wasn't confident in my ability. So, after years of sticking to the shallows at the beach, and treading water in the shallow end of the pool, today I sucked up all my courage and went to my gym's pool.
It was actually pretty good! My stroke style is terrible, and I was really tired after doing (really slow) laps for about 40 minutes, but I actually had a fun time doing it. I could see the people in the lanes next to me just kind of gliding along, and I really want to be able to swim like that. I grabbed a brochure for some adult swim classes, I'm thinking of signing up for a few private lessons just to get my stroke sorted out, and seeing how I go.
I had a bad weekend foodwise, and then I had my weigh in - which was kind of a disaster. I'd been stuck on my plateau for ages, finally saw some progress last week, and now I've just gone backwards straight back onto it. I know why it happened - I ate junk and I didn't exercise much - so I need to kick my own butt and get back into things. Summer is only a few weeks away, the temperature's hot enough for it to be summer already, I want to be able to go to the beach with confidence!

| Sunday Weigh-in |
[05 Oct 2008|06:57pm] |
I see several people posting their weigh-ins, so I think I'll give it a try, trying to make myself culpable for my weight loss.
Starting Weight: 206 Last Week: 191 This Week: 188 Goal Weight: 130
I was 191 for months, and I started going to the gym last Suday. I've gone almost every day, and ate better, and lost three pounds, which made me ecstatic and hopeful and motivated, although I can't imagine myself thin.

[05 Oct 2008|03:55pm] |
Has anyone here tried hypnosis to help with their bad eating? Did it help? Was it expensive?
I have a huge problem with eating fast food. No matter how hard I try I always seem to give in. I'm at the point where I will try anything to help.

| My data, let me show you it. |
[05 Oct 2008|06:35pm] |
Ok, so I have an account at CalorieKing and have been a member there for years and years. When I first began dieting, I found that this site had the most comprehensive food database on the 'net. Now, it's a "for pay" site only, and there are plenty of other free sites on the web that have pretty good data, but I'm partial to what I've used for a long time.
One thing I really like about it is the ability to see my food diary data in chart form.
( Figured I'd share my data here... )
