I'd like to say one thing about this crazy ass day. While I am sad over the tragic and untimely death of Micheal Jackson, I would like to say that we should not forget Farrah Fawcett as well. Yes, her death was kind of predictable, but still, she did a lot for people with cancer. I'm not even going to crack jokes about her having anal cancer, because that's not even funny. Taking into account my own battle with cancer in the past, I would like to thank her for recording her personal, and very painful battle with cancer for the whole world to see. That took bravery and courage beyond measure. So I know people think it's funny when a black person says "hey, what about the white man?" but in this case, I honestly and truthfully mean it.
Last thing I have to say about today is that I think I'm focused on Farrah Fawcett because I can't believe MJ is dead. I know he's not really an icon for my generation, but we (and I mean this speaking about my generation) still grew up on the man's music. I believe he was so adamant on doing this last tour for his children. They had never seen their own father perform, and he really only went through all this for his children. If you think about it, look at how he looked during the whole trial thing. He looked sick, but look at how adamant he was about this tour. You can say the man was broke or whatever, but I truthfully believe that he might have been worried about money, but he honestly and truthfully only cared about his kids, and its a shame that they will only get to re-live an experience they missed out on only through video tapes and DVDs. They will never have that memory of seeing their father live, the one performer who will probably never be topped again. That is what strikes me about Micheal Jackson's death.
So now you all know what I think about today. I don't look at this as a black and white thing; I don't believe that Reverend Al Sharpton had any business being the spokes person for all black people. I view this day as a day that 2 great people died, and that's the end of that. Thank you and good night.
