Trannies are on their way to gettin' respect in all musical genres. I hope it's fairly normalized by, say, 20 years from now. And by that, I mean... people understanding and maybe even enjoying the references made in queer songs.

quick to judge? It is something I personally don't feel comfortable, I'm not mad at you or judging you just letting you know that it makes me (and some other folks feel uncomfortable)

I know.

I won't ID someone who doesn't already use the term; that's derogatory, etc. etc.

"Trannies are on their way to gettin' respect in all musical genres" so you are assuming that all transgendered musicians identify with the label "tranny"?

I am kind of confused.

I am definitely referring to musicians who use the term, but could also be including those who do not because that is how much of the outside world identifies them (revealing a divide which is still very apparent; queer musicians drawing mainly queer crowds, etc.).

but why not use transexual or trans instead of "tranny", it just seems to make more sense and be more apt if you are discussing trans people who are making music overall.

Because I use blunt controversy as my means of expression. (This wouldn't be news to you if I publicized my poetry...)

Powerful connotations go into my words (not just for those whom I am describing, but as a revelation of myself), and part of expressing myself in a journal is to be able to write unfiltered.

Sometimes making people uncomfortable is the point; which is why many artists make songs about it... being comfortable with that is part of what I'm referring to when I say understanding the references.

You want to make people uncomfortable by using transgressive (excuse any potential puns) language or referencing artists using transgressive language?
again I do not fully understand what you are saying maybe?

Yes, it's my lack of articulation which is confusing you!

The artists in question are using the term to bring the issue to the forefront of political consciousness. Equally making people feel comfortable (that they are not alone) and uncomfortable (blatant discomfort with/distancing from understood societal roles, etc.).

in that context it is not something that makes me uncomfortable but as the term "tranny" has some pejorative connotations I think it is complicated for non trans people to use it kind of like "faggot" or "nigger" for straight and white folks. I don't think language should be totally policed and that pejorative terms should be given too much power but I do think the use of those kind of words by people who are not reclaiming them for themselves can get touchy.

Despite exteriors, I am hardly ever in the boat of people capable of labeling others as other.

I use terms very very consciously.

I hardly ever feel any privilege at all... it makes life scary. Which is why I wish I could attach myself to labels, but none fit. So when I use one, I am using it with both positive and negative attachments.

wether you label yourself or your not the wider world and society at large are going to endow you privileges because you appear to be caucasian, appear to be cis female, appear to be able bodied, not an immigrant and are of a class where a post secondary is readily available to a certain degree you will have certain freedoms that others do not.
