I can't sleep. Every time I close my eyes, I think of all the things I wish I had done differently. The regret I feel keeps me awake. In fact, I don't think I'll ever really sleep. I know you can't change the past, but you can learn from it.

Loved ones are like dance partners. Sometimes you are in step with each other, other times you aren't. Sometimes you teach new steps, other times you learn them. At points, you spin your partner out and pull them back in to laugh with each other. But what if you spin your partner out and they let go, only to spin faster and faster away from you? Do you wait for them to stop? What if they never stop? What if they don't want to stop?

So there you are, lonely and tired. You've spent so much of your life dancing around in circles feeling your partners out, and you are left alone with your regret, alone with your fears, and alone with yourself. From here, you can choose to sleep your loneliness away, or live life awake and aware of your past. All of this is a learning experience. Yes, it may be easier to sleep it off and express your faults and insecurities into a comfortable pillow, but you will never learn anything that way. So just stay awake, because maybe there is a reason why you can't sleep, maybe you're missing something. Learn to live and love again. Don't just sleep it off...there is no compromise for your lullabies.
