It's been brought to my attention that an "author" over on fanfiction.net has been plagiarising one of my stories, doing a find/replace on the names & genders and claiming it as her own. And not just any story, but my reinventing 'love verse. This story is my pride and joy, my BABY, and this seriously is hurting my heart.

The person in question is WhatEverHappened on FF.net, and she seems to have taken a lot of the 'verse.

She took tell them we're like magnets and turned it into "Eye to Eye". Parts of waste our weeks and stuffed became "To the End".

Her A/N on the magnets rip-off: "A/N: Soooo remember how I wasn't going to do a sequel to Say it Ain't So that was a linear story? Yeah, I lied. This is set when they go to college and pretty much up until the summer after their freshman year. I have it all planned out and I'm super excited for it so the chances of me losing interest are like, zero."

Yeah, because I already wrote it.

Love 'verse is over 200,000 words and I've been working on it for almost four years, and to just see someone jack it and mangle it and call it their own, well. It really sucks. So if you want to go leave this self-proclaimed author a nice little "review", I really wouldn't mind. I've always wanted to be part of an angry mob. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and for it to be my favorite thing I've ever written just makes me heartsick. She seems to have stolen a few really good stories from the SPN fandom, and this just can't stand.

Any advice on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated. Maybe an email to reportabuse@fanfiction.com?

ETA: Apparently, this girl posted her magnets rip-off as a sequel to another J2 story (the amazing My Heart Don't Beat the Way It's Used To by raina_at. It's been posted here as "Say It Ain't So", so be sure to report that one as well. Ugh.

There's an LJ comm, stop_plagiarism, that tracks that kind of stuff. It's generally agreed to be a good first step; the mods deal with this kind of stuff a lot (obviously).

This happened to this author I know and I think she reported it with Fanfiction.net and the thief was banned from the site. It's against the rules to steal other people's work. So go ahead and report it. Because what the fuck. That's just wrong.

I'm sorry you are another of the unfortunate victums of this person. She seems to be stealing all her fics from Supernatural or J2. Because Gedry notified everyone of one of her fic being stolen by the same person as well. I really hope they do something about this.

You too, huh? Fucking bitch. She stole from gedry too, and Scaramouche over at Dreamwidth. Those two I recognized were of my favorite stories, which makes me resent her all the more. She even had the balls to take a bunch of really, really famous stories in this fandom(because they're fucking amazing).

On that related note, I'm going to give your story a try now. Because hey, she only seemed to have ripped of great stoories, and I've already ranted at her and reported her to FF.net. Might as well use it for the best. ;)

Saw this as a post on Twitter and check the stories out. Appalled by what I found and reported both. Am now going to offer a not so nice 'review'.

I reported to their violations email address. Hope that it gets resolved quickly. This is disgusting. The Love Verse is special. Personally, it's my happy place. It's literally where I go if I need a pick up.

Same here. I have a very short list of go-to fics when I need a pick-me-up, and Love Verse is right at the top of it. I've probably re-read the High School chunks of it 20 times, maybe more.

You guys, it's super awesome that people are leaving her scathing comments, but PLEASE, don't leave anonymous comments!! Have the courage to say things to her and let her know exactly who you are. If you aren't signed in when you leave a review, she can take it down and then it becomes useless. The only way to really get to her is by leaving signed reviews, because those she can't delete.

That is terrible! She probably thought no one would ever notice because it is a completely different fandom! I hate it when that happens, it makes you feel like there is nothing you can do.

When there were a couple of authors at ff.net plagiarizing several spn authors last summer, I reported it to ff.net, but never got a response, and those authors are still on their site. The stories were removed after many, many people left reviews, however. I have heard from a lot of authors that ff.net is notorious about not doing anything about known plagiarism.

I did report it at stop_plagiarism. I agree with the person above. The mods did a thorough job investigating the occurrences and added the people to their list of known plagiarizers. I took a couple screen shots of the stories you mentioned in case you didn't get a chance and you decide to report it. As soon as this "author" knows you are on to her, she is likely to remove the stories, and your evidence is gone.

Shit like this has been going on for so long and it really saddens me especially when authors works so hard on their stories especially one like the reinvent love verse which is amazing. I have an account on fanfiction.net and will make a report to the administrator.

Holy shit this girl is a grade A fuckwit. Commented and reported - get thee to stop_plagiarism, the mods there have practice handling this sort of thing. Unfortunately ff.net sucks at removing plagiarised stories, but if enough people get on her case it could drive her off the fucking internet for good to delete the stories just to escape the hassle.

I reported it. Also reported the same author's plagiarism of gedry's 12 Steps story. I have no idea how ff.net deals with this type of thing, though.

Just checked all her other stories, they were ALL stolen. She never wrote a story herself. Wow, ugly bitch is stupid.
