I have a question for you ladies. I know a lot of you are aspiring authors, hoping to someday have your pieces published.

Herein lies the question. You have the chance to publish something. The catch: it's awful. The publishing company caught wind of that novel you wrote in fifth grade, and they want to see more of that vampire detective romance bildungsroman. Long story short, would you publish anything if you knew it would sell, regardless of how bad it was or how much you thought it comprimised your dignity as an author?

Announcement.

Now that school's started, I'm afraid none of you are ever going to see me again.

Not only do I have a part time job that I work two or three times a week, six hour shifts, but homework (of the AP persuasion).

Just to give you guys an example of what I'm looking at here, my homework for just tonight (as in due tomorrow) was to read the entire first chapter in my Physics book & do all the review problems, a section of Calculus problems, read the first 50 pages of Beowulf, I have a test tomorrow on the first five chapters in my History book, and two papers due in English in a week.

Did I mention it's only the second day of school?

Also, JSA (Debate Club), newspaper, community service club, drama club, piano lessons, the Link, play auditions for a week straight (which tend to take up about five straight hours, and I need to prepare a monologue), play rehearsals every day, dramafest rehearsals, Knowledge Master Open (I think that's the name?) practices, babysitting, laundry, driver's ed, breathing, and probably about a dozen other extracurriculars I'm forgetting.

So, uh, wish me luck.

And I'll miss you guys.

Everyone's heard about this Amy Blankenship deal, yes? Good. Let's discuss.

Apparently this woman is trying to publish mediocre Inuyasha fan fiction having only changed the names, so people are upset. Meanwhile, everyone over at inuanonymous are obviously above this whole matter while simultaneously taking shots at numisma for no apparent reason. Oh, and to top it off, the Amy's fangirls are lashing out at anyone and everyone.

[takes a deep breath].

I've been following this for a lot longer than when the wank started up, as amyfushigiygi has been spamming my mailing lists for nearly a year now with one thing or another. At first I was pretty annoyed, but the more people wank, the more I feel like being seriously pissed off over this is a ridiculous waste of time.

I'm just wondering why people are honestly angry and bitter over this issue. Are you defending Takahashi's honor or something, because I think deep down we all know this book isn't going to sell. In the end, this 40 year old lady is going to be out about a thousand or so dollars for the vanity publishing. And since she's a "trusted postal service agent", she's obviously not rolling in money. She's going to get her ego deflated one way or another, so let's get over it, mmkay?

As for inuanonymous, I have no idea what to say about that. I'm usually pretty hesitant with using the term elitist, but it's the only thing I can think of. It's obvious whoever posted that did so just so they could bash numisma, and I don't think that's okay. I'm not going to get into what I think of her fan fiction, because as far as I'm concerned that's irrelevant in this situation. She's been nothing but courteous to me, and she's a valued member of my flist. In fact, she's always honest about her opinions to everyone, and I think that's an admirable trait. The quality of her fan fiction has nothing to do with that, and I definitely do not endorse bash!posts.

I'm definitely not siding with the Amy fangirls either. Bashing everyone that speaks up and calling them "whiners" [among other things] is ridiculous. Obviously, some people are not going to like Amy's books, even if they were good. If Amy and her fangirls can't take constructive crit from people who are trying to help instead of bash, then they don't know what writing's really about. I don't think I can say anything more about that without bashing, which I want to avoid in this post.

As for my own personal opinion, bashers, elitists, and fangirls aside, I don't pity Amy at all. I can't respect a human being that can't acknowledge their own faults, or want to fix them. And yes, her writing is horrid. It just is. It doesn't matter how nice she is or how hard she worked on it; it's just a brain-hemorrhaging insult to the English language.

For the most part, I'm apathetic, but I always find myself coming back to that author bio, which will not be LJ cut because if you read one thing in this whole post, make it the following.

Writers' block is a bitch, but I am determined to make it my bitch.

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I guess you can blame it on transitions into new fandoms [aka Operation Hello Naruto]. Also, Fruits Basket is particularly shiny.

On that note, Yuki/Tohru owns all of you. This is indisputable.

There are so many people on my flist I'd love to have a nice conversation with, but if I started listing, I'd never stop. I want to get to know all of you better. With 67 friends, it's kind of hard sometimes, but I really love all of you and I check my flist religiously.

I'm trying as hard as humanly possible to start writing again, but the process is slow and discouraging. I could use a beta for what I've got done so far.

Mugen sounds like a whiny fifteen year old boy. Somehow my brother and I just knew that the same person who did Spike's voice from Cowboy Bebop would be doing Mugen. & it doesn't fit at all. The voice actor puts too much emotion in; Mugen always likes to come off as bored and uneffected, even when he's excited about something.

Jin sounds like a homosexual. 'Nuff said. What in the world happened to that deep, smooth, manly voice in the original? WOE!

With Fuu there's less to complain about, but the voice actor they chose for her doesn't fit. Her voice is too gentle, less high-pitched. Fuu likes to screech; she screeches even when she's not upset about something. Her voice is supposed to be abrasive 90% of the time.

In conclusion ...WOE! And I think I'm going to watch the rest of the series subbed. My brother almost slaughtered me for wailing every time a main character open their mouth.

I never thought I'd be one of those elitist bastards who freak over dubs. First time for everything, I guess.

In addition, FanFiction.Net would like to address a growing problem. For whatever reason, some writers feel it's okay to copy-n-paste musical lyrics they have not written into their fiction. If you did not write it, do not post it. This has always been our policy. Please remove these entries immediately to avoid account closure.

What's your opinion? I'm kind of happy with it, but not because of the reasons ff.net gives. Obviously, song!fic often happens to be synonymous with crap!fic. At the same time though, song!fics have potential when they aren't a mutilation of the English language with some Avril Lavigne lyrics thrown in. I, myself, have a song!fic up at ff.net, and I don't really think there's anything wrong with that.

I'm utterly addicted to iy_fic_review. I want to write one myself, but it's been forever since I've read anything but one-shots & I don't really have the time to read an epic at the moment.

[ 1 ] Kagome (Inuyasha) - Okay, so I don't love her or anything, I just don't hate her. Some people go nuts with Kagome!hate, and I just can't understand that. Sure, being so blindly obsessed with Inuyasha is pathetic, and the way she dotes on Shippou is annoying, but she's just a kid like most of us. I kind of admire her in a way, for the mature way she deals with Kikyou. I know most people (myself included) would want to rip Kikyou to pieces for what she's done. Not that I hate Kikyou, either.

[ 2 ] Yuna (Final Fantasy X) - At first, I hated Yuna; she was like a Aeris carbon copy. But as the game went on though, I got a figurative hard-on for the girl. She was so strong but at the same time so weak. Her struggles, her triumphs, it was all so real to me; she was so real to me. She wasn't like Aeris at all, she didn't just give up and die. She lived on & her ending wasn't happy.

[ 3 ] Sango (Inuyasha) - A lot of people hate Sango because she gets in the way of Miroku & Kagome's twu wuv. But really, she's horribly selfish & weak. And I like it.

[ 4 ] Rose (The Legend of Dragoon) - Having lived for over 11,000 years, Rose has dealt with her share of misery. Her duty in life is to kill innocent babies! But she's done it for centuries, even though everyone she loved died, because she's so strong. At the same time though, she's so vulnerable. When she meets Dart, she's instantly reminded of her old lover, who she watched die. As a result, she spends the night talking to him while he sleeps in her lap. She's just so multi-faceted. She's strong & weak at the same time. It kind of inspires hope.

[ 5 ] Doujima (Witch Hunter Robin) - A lot of people hate Doujima, but I love her to pieces. When you first meet her, she's shallow, mean, and annoying. But as time goes on, in addition to that, she becomes the most horrible, deceitful, betraying scum on the planet. And I like it.

[ 6 ] Fllay (Gundam SEED) - You probably all hate me right now, but I seriously love Fllay a lot. She's awful, and self-centered, and whiny, and probably the most horrible human being. Ever. And I can relate to that. Honestly, when you think about it, she's probably the character we can all identify with the most. She's like a caricature of inherent human flaws, and I respect her for it.

[ 7 ] Genkai (Yu Yu Hakusho) - Okay, I love Yu Yu Hakusho to pieces, but Genkai really brings the series alive for me. She's old and crude and condescending, but she's such a dynamic character. She's really suffered in the past, but still she guides Yusuke. I really admire her. Plus her interaction with Yusuke is, in my opinion, the most hilarious aspect of the series. She's probably my favorite character in Yu Yu Hakusho.

[ 8 ] Rikku (Final Fantasy X) - A lot of people think Rikku is annoying, and just kind of look at her as a cardboard, perky cut-out. However, I think her character is a lot deeper than that. With being persecuted for being Al Bhed, and Home burning down, she's suffered a lot. But still, where she could whine, she hides it under the cheerful exterior, & tries to help whenever she can. I don't think that's shallow at all. If anything, it's admirable.

[ 9 ] Mrs. Higurashi (Inuyasha) - Dear Lord, I love Mama so much. She's probably my favorite character in Inuyasha. She's been through so much pain, and is slowly losing her daughter. Yet she smiles & bears it. Her selflessness is so admirable. Plus pairing her is so much fun! Inuyasha, Naraku, Hojo! <3.

[ 10 ] Meryl (Trigun) - Some people think she's bitchy; I think she's responsible. She kind of guards her feelings, but it's so evident, that it's easy to pity her. I love her interaction with Vash & the way she cares for him and about him. I can really relate to her too, the way she tries to keep everything in line, even though it's hopeless.
