| Two cats need a new home |

My husband and I adopted two cats from the Classic City Cat Clinic about a year ago. Now, circumstances have come up where we have to move to Portland, Oregon. Unfortunately, we cannot take our cats with us. We're hoping to find a new, good home for them before then. I refuse to take them to the Humane Society, because it's a kill shelter. They're both about six-seven years old, and have been together all their life. Their previous owner was an old lady who died, and we're the second owners. One is a boy and the other a girl; both are spade/neutered. They've both been indoor-only, although they have their claws, and in good health; no fleas or anything of that sort. Surprisingly, they aren't very scratch-happy, and haven't destroyed any of our furniture. They're very mellow and sweet cats. The girl, Gracie, is a little more timid than the male, Duke, but they're both loving and full of personality. You can see some of their pictures here. The girl is gray/white, while the boy is black/white.
We love to death and wouldn't part if we could help it, but there's just no way for us to take them with us. We also have a couple of bowls, an automatic water bowl, and a litter box if you need them.

Does anyone know of a good (trustworthy, reliable, not going to break the bank) carpet cleaning service?
I know that you can rent them and do it yourself, but I think my carpet needs a bit more than a do-it-yourself job (pet odors, ick).

i've been noticing lately that hollywood women who have a similar shape to mine are popping up everywhere. it's nice to see some ladies on screen (whether it be the big screen or small!) who have a shape to them.
the best example i can really think of right now is christina hendricks, who plays joan holloway on mad men. i've actually never seen an episode of the show, but i love her already - she's got giant knocks, a waist, and wears a ton of vintage dresses. I can relate.

We are having a yard sale on Saturday, October 4th (that's tomorrow) from 8 AM to 2 PM. We are on the east side at 419 River Chase Dr. Athens 30605. I've got a ton of Japanese comic books for sale (in Japanese, not the translated versions), American comic books, Star Wars stuff, Breyer horses, CDs, books, old children's books, some 80's My Little Ponies, and a few pieces of furniture and lots more random stuff! I can't really answer any specifics about what I have because I'm lazy, so just come by and check it out.

The morning always comes too soon. It's the middle of the night and suddenly the alarm is beeping, pulling my husband from a warm bed. Try as I might, I can't convince him that the military would want him to take the day off. Try as I might, my feeble little arms can't seem to hold him under the covers. There is so much willpower in his broad shoulders. Such focus as he plucks my little fingers away. It's just as well. We're grownups now. We're getting in the swing of things.
There's hardly ever anything so important to do in my day that it should need to start right at six-thirty, so after I watch the rear bumper of our car disappear up the street, I usually go back to bed. The sleep is usually deep and groggy, but today I had a very clear dream.
I was on the front stoop of a set of apartment buildings, joylessly kissing someone I haven't seen in years. Someone I liked and then later consequentially hated, but someone who now invokes only indifference. The details of these circumstances were making themselves known gradually, so I let things develop. "Are you sure your husband won't mind?" He asked, amused. I glanced down the street to see- not my husband in real life, but an ex-boyfriend. Big and black, bald(ing) and stoned as ever, he was sitting some distance away parked in a minivan. He glanced at us with apathy and then back to his newspaper. "I can't believe I ended up with him-" I said more for my benefit than the person sitting next to me. Then my husband (Only, I suppose in the dream he was not my husband,) walked by, hand in hand with a mutual acquaintance. I gathered from the context that they were married and became quite bitter at this point. The man at my side asked if I wanted to accompany him inside and I fumbled for an excuse. I settled on "No, I'd better not. I'm married." But that wasn't the reason. Even though he appeared to be married to someone else as well, my loyalties were still to JustinDean. I took to asking myself why I couldn't be with him. Why I couldn't be happy. My distress was so severe that it woke me from the dream to the comforting realization that yes, I am with him. Yes, I am happy.
I know the source of this dream. A trip to the library yesterday prompted me to check out the complete stories of Kate Chopin. I'm well acquainted with The Awakening and I'm about halfway through At Fault. These and another story I read some time ago (the name of which I cannot recall) all have a similar theme. People trapped in joyless marriages. People forgoing selfish desires out of duty. Letting desire burn with no hope of relief. Reading her carefully chosen words and the well crafted romance, I'm so thrilled that what I want and what is right are the exact same thing.
Perhaps my bliss will hinder my skill as a writer. Maybe that is why I have so much trouble coming up with conflict. If I had to pick, I'd rather be happy and unknown than miserable and published. But maybe someday I'll work around my happiness long enough to make a name for myself. We'll see.

I fell asleep on the couch waiting for the maintenance man to come and fix our door bell. My head in our clean, folded sheets making crease marks on my face and my arms. His phone call shook me awake at eleven. I hadn't meant to sleep so late. I guess I was more tired than I felt. Busy days and nights and suddenly I can sleep all day. The maintenance man remembered me from before. My sad, broken doorbell. They don't have the parts in the warehouse, he told me. He'll order it. I'm elated?
Frosted flakes for breakfast and staring into space. I should fold the laundry. I should get a job. I should get a new social security card. I should write something that someone somewhere would feel glad to read. I tried writing a short story but it's more dark and grisly than I intended. I'd started it fully meaning it to be darkly comedic. Now it's just dark and I don't know if I can finish it. Science fiction meets broken minds and fractured romances and the characters are just so cruel to each other. I don't know how it happened.
I got a piece of mail from the university of Hawaii. I can't say why, but seeing it in the mailbox and clutching it in my little hand on the walk home, I was convinced it was a rejection letter. I expected to tear it open and read something along the lines of "Jessica Critcher, you are ridiculous. You cannot have a bachelor's degree. Go get knocked up or something. Enter the cult of domesticity, for you shall never make your mark upon the world. Be a kept woman and a pretty pet, for this is the only role for which you are suited." All they wanted to tell me was that they need my transcripts to prove I've actually been doing what I say I have. My piecemeal, hodgepodge college credit history is four separate transcripts so far. Soon it will be five but maybe it can end there. I can't understand this pessimism with regards to my education. I set a goal to leave this island with a bachelor's degree, and god dammit that's a pretty modest goal. I want to read and speak intelligently about literature. I want to write A papers and blush under a professor's praises. If I can but endure the rigmarole, I shall find myself in my tiny niche before too long. I'll have something to take my mind away when he's gone. I'll have something concerning and dependent wholly upon me. I'll have a framed piece of paper that tells the world I'm a college graduate. I'll have a framed piece of paper that proves a huge accomplishment. I'll be the first ever on my father's side to do it.
I really should fold that laundry.

| Any cheap (or less expensive body shops)? |

I want to fix a problem in my car's frame, and I think I saved enough to get it done (sorry, my crappy insurance won't cover it). Are there any cheap/less expensive body shops around town? Preferably one that takes credit card and offers a ride to work after leaving the car at the shop?
Also needed: A cheap place to get a haircut. I saw the entry from a couple of months ago for places, but those are still a bit expensive for me. I was thinking more of SuperCuts type place (less than $20). Yea, I'm cheap. Also, I don't care much for my hair. I just need the ends cut away.
