all conned out.
man. the last few weeks have been pretty stressful and busy for me, but one really bright spot was visiting my pal alexa and playing some of the most intense dress-up of my life with her at nerd prom '08. she also took most of these photos since my memory card crapped out at the last second. thanks, lex! me hate you the worst. ♥

on friday we were death & delirium from the sandman.

on saturday we were the world's worstest, bizzara & batzarra!


'zarras conquer myspace, news at zero o'clock!
the bizarro versions of supergirl and batgirl.


she's like supergirl, only a little more bizaaarrrrrrre.


batzarra am not having trouble with batzarra gauntlets!



and of course there were many other strange and wonderful sights to behold.

really big thanks to shawn knapp and his buddy jeff (curtailed
purple shirt) at DC direct for hanging out with us over the
weekend, letting us help pawpack up the watchmen and TDK
prototypes and showing me around the DC offices monday.
totally superheroic, and they're hilarious company. though i
think shawn may've been a little worried by my darts "skills."

sunday we dressed like normal people and had a perfectly lovely time.


...and that's a con!

edit: ah, and how could i forget! on saturday we got to meet sean murphy and dustin nguyen and lurk around them in the artists' alley for a bit. they both took the time to look at my portfolio and say generally encouraging things despite the bevy of fanpeople fighting for their attention and merchandise. two deeply talented guys, and about as nice as they get!

they both asked me what work i was doing for DC and then answered, "well, then soon, right?" when i said none. i thought that was just ridiculously nice of them, especially considering their own high caliber of talent and prolificness.

i saw about three or four deaths there that weekend, including the rod stewart one i think. was she walking around with a nightwing?

cons are great if only because they allow you to construct sentences like those in the above paragraph. :D

i guess since batzarra technically doesn't exist, i can safely say i am the most authentic instance of her ever. but i'm very flattered you think i made an okay serene death! i had a lotta competition at the con, i tell ya. but i think i was the only one who came in a double pack with a matching delirium figure. ;)

Just recently discovered your website and illustrations. Toooo cooooooluhhh. Also what is mind blowing amazing is your ability to withstand the beauty that is comicon B-O for three days. Ok, maybe it's not that bad. Yes it is. I went Saturday and watched chubby Jedi's use the force and it made me happy and uncomfortable at the same time.
