why kids love green arrow, 4 pages.
characters: bird, doyle, random kid, ollie-sama-chan
rating/warnings: kevin smithular levels of cussitude.
media: pen, ink, & ps7
artist's note: it's not for whatever reason you might think.

this kid said the darnedest thing to me and my buddy b-bird while we were waiting in line for the new york comic-con last february. you may not be able to discern it from my crude art, but he was perhaps 13 or 14. maybe 12. possibly 8. or 17? i don't see age, but my friend assures me he seemed relatively new to this earth.

Hahaha I love how people will admit to reading serious business indie comics before the superhero ones. HE WAS TESTING YOU, AND YOU PASSED.

This is hands down your best work (though I figure the next thing will be your best work as well)

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Dude, this made me laugh my ass off!

Your vision of yourself is so pretty and alarmed!

The Green Arrow with the rose in is mouth! Oh man...dude, tell me you are getting syndicated or making a series or whoring yourself out to MoCCa sometime in the near future. This is pretty brilliant stuff right here my Minglet but I expect nothing less, hear?

well, bird just pointed out to me that i drew myself too prettily, so next time i will be sure to include the freckles and squinty eyes and scraggly eyebrows. i was just trying to inject some chicken soup into my still wounded teenage soul on the self-esteem front! but truly, veritas is more important. *g*

and i wish i could tell you that i was making the big bucks, babe, but it is all very slow going. i'm still chugging along, though, and hoping something pans out before i have to get a job slinging slurpees at the nearest 7/11!

Uh.... this might be the most genius comment on youth today I've ever seen, quite aside from the fact that your art is smoking and the layouts crackle all the way down.

Your talent shall encompass the earth, honestcakes.

this is the wittiest, sharpest thing i've seen in yonks! 'so fucking sick he's terminally ill' - when i gank this for casual use, whom shall i credit?

it's a little frightening how many male persons i know who are exactly like this guy.

'so fucking sick he's terminally ill' - when i gank this for casual use, whom shall i credit?

first of all, thank you very much for both the praise and the usage of "yonks." secondly, i came up with that line for the purposes of this comic, but it is entirely possible that i have unconsciously stolen it from someone in my murky past. therefore, i declare it free property! verbal "clip art," if you will.

i feel so clean, like i've just released a baby deer back into the welcoming arms of mother nature. or something. ;)

and that kid. oh man. i hope he never sees this and recognizes himself, but if he does, i hope he at least notices all the cool accessories and powers i gave him! like heart-eyes! and power fist! and bold crazy font! *g*

AHAHAHA, oh Ming, you made what could be a plain vignette SO POWERFULLY FUNNY. You are smoother than Arrow!

I'm distressed to learn that Catholic school kids are STILL required to be that hardcore in all weathers, though. I swear I graduated with zero nerve endings in my legs after freezing them off in those skirts for years.

i'm just glad that in the end bemusement won out over fatal heart palpitations. it was a pretty intense encounter, but i like to live on the edge. like all children of the 90's, i breathe XTREME for breakfast! and that is why i still read comics now. probably. based on scientific conjecture. you know. ;)

hee! pygmy big thing! :D

i actually did see him several times later that day once we were inside the convention center, and we very studiously avoided making eye contact. it was a close thing, but i think in the end all involved parties realized that what we shared on the sidewalk was best left on the sidewalk, faded yet ingrained like the year old gum wads that cushioned our weary feet.
