Thanks to a combination of family get-togethers and migraines (fortunately mostly alternating and not concurrent) I have not been around much since, oh, Thursday. I spent a whole lot more of Friday evening and today sleeping off migraines than I wanted to. The upshot of this is, I owe people RP tags, and I seem to have missed several people on my flist having bad days. Sorry about that! I will be around to answer tags as soon as my brain decides to cooperate. My head doesn't hurt right now (YAY) but, y'know that kind of migraine hangover? Yeah. Brain's a little sludgy. Might be tomorrow before that happens.

Nobody writes Remus/Sirius like penknife, and she's written two lovely Marauder-era ones, both achy and sweet and awkward and wonderful.

The first is Glass Houses, 2700 words, PG-rated, Remus isn't jealous of Sirius and James. Really. Much.

The second is Cooler than Frogs, 4000ish words, PG, Seven secrets Sirius Black has learned about Remus Lupin. Have a snippet:

"It's brilliant," Sirius said with all the pent-up enthusiasm of weeks of not being able to talk about it. "We have an actual werewolf in our dorm. You have no idea how cool that makes us."

Remus looked at him like he was trying not to smile but not quite succeeding. "The frogs were already pretty cool."

"This is cooler than frogs," Sirius said passionately, and that did make Remus smile.

OK, I think I'm the last one on my flist to post about it, but I've only just now settled down. And re-watched it.

This is a fun toy--it's called Wordle. You put in a bunch of text and it makes a "word cloud" of the words in the text. Words used more often come out in larger font. You can change the typeface and the colors, as well. They come out pretty. If you're a word geek. But my flist has a lot of word geeks.

My seven year old niece's dress rehearsal for her dance recital was tonight, and she always talks me into going to the dress rehearsal. Or, y'know, she asks me to go and I cave. So it's a good four hours of watching girls (and one boy) ages 3-18 dance. Tomorrow it'll be another four hours watching them do it all again. But hey. One day she won't want me to do everything with her, y'know?

I always come away from these things feeling that I've seen more teenage ass than I'm entirely comfortable with, and also with the feeling that preadolescent girls shouldn't know how to move their hips quite like that. And why are most of the songs about boys, but that's a whole different thing.

It is kind of interesting to watch the ones that, even at seven or eight, have stage presence, and who are unfazed by things like their hair coming unpinned or those ruffly armband things sliding down to their wrists (and in some cases, completely off), whereas others are completely thrown by things like that.

The stage is a bit of a foreign country to me (being up there, not watching), and so is dance. It's all perfectly normal to Michaela and her friends, though.

So, seperis is running a Dead Letter Challenge, where the idea is to kill off a character and write a letter from them to someone, to the world, whatever. It may be slightly cheating to use a character that might well be coming back someday, but I couldn't resist writing one from Simm!Master to the Doctor.
