Whose responsibility is it to help out people when they are in desperate need? Should it be left to individual countries, such as Sudan that are too corrupted to help, even if it is their problem, or should stronger countries, such as the United States, or united countries such as the United Nations take the lead in aid even though the issue doesn’t directly affect them?

examples of adult differentitaion:
1. adult stem cells can transdifferentiate or have plasticity which means they have the ability to form specialized cell types of otehr tissues

2. Hematopoietic stem cells can give rise to all types of blood cells

3. Mesenchymal stem cells are bone marrow stromal cells and can give rise to many different types of connective tissue cells

4. neural stem cells give rise to neve cells, and astrocytes and oligodendrocytes which are not types of nerve cells.

5. Epithelial stem cellsin the lining of the digestive tract turn into absorptive cells, goblet cells, Paneth cells, and enteroendocrine cells.

6.Skin stem cells turn into keratinocytes whcih migrate to become the surfacr of the skin and form a protective layer; the follicular give rise to teh hair follicle and teh epidermis

Some adult stem cells are pluripotent (can become many types of cells, btu not all)
1. Hematopoietic stem cells can become brain cells, skeletal muscle cells, cardiac muscle cells, and liver cells

2. Bone marrow stromal cells can differentiate into cardiac muscle cells and skeletal muscle cells

3. Brain stem cells can become blood cells and skeletal muscle cells

Current research is aimed at dtermining the mechanisms that underlie adult stem cell plasticity

D. what are the key questions about adult stem cells that still remain

1. how many kinds of adult stem cells exist and in what tissues do they exist
2.Where do adult stem cells come from? are they leftover from embryonic cells
3. do stem cells naturally transdifferentiate or do the cells send out signals to perform it
4. What factors stimulate cells to relocate to sites of injury or damage

even though i didnt end up going trick or treating with gabi, ivan, cj, and jill, i still had a realllllly great day:). I was awoken early by my mother to go to drill with jeff, where we tested the hoses on the firetruck, which was boring, yet intresting. then i went with lauren to myles' and we went to teh beach adn it was soooooo nice out. then i went to get pizza with laur and mr. lebowitz was there and it was odd. after we went back to her house, and did the end-of-the-season-jump-into-the-bay thing which was like jumping into a huge pool of ice it was so cold. then we went into the jacuzzi:) and we went back and forth a few times:) and now im contemplating starting my speech due tomorrow for ss, but instead watching the real world:)

we didn't beat garden city. and mr. hoffman is retiring form coaching after this year. two of the four divers are graduating at the end of this year. other than that, not much is new.

i had a good day:) i have no hw. diving practise was only 2 hours!!!!! i didnt pay attention to a single class. i just burped. i actually ahd a firend at lunch today. i slapped teh water sooooooooooooo hard on one dive today that i think it turned black and blue, but i dont really care. and i love when people say nice things to me when they dont have to, but because they want to.:)

on friday i did really badly at the swim meet. then finally finished watching monty python with myles. then saturday was practise, then another swim meet where kelly taught me how to do breast stroke in 5 minutes so i could swim a 50 in teh diver's 200 medley relay. which was a story all in its own. afterwards i babysat, and watched teh three stooges. and i must say, it was incredibly pointless. i cant't imagine how sat through 7 episodes of it without thowing somehting at them. today i went to bretucci's with my family (minus brian though:( but thats because he's in boston. and lauren bought me a present at teh amll today :-D. this weekend was pretty boring, but thank god for alex ivan lauren and myles, becasue they make me feel loved.

its good to be talking to nicole again:)

and my father fianlyl agreed to australia.

adn i ahd egglplant pizza today which was amazinglyyyyyyyyyyy good bc i love eggplant

today started out very shitty. i lost one contact. my diving coach came today and i had another panic attack becasue of him, and a slpped my sotmach so hard while diving that i felt liek iw as bleeding, but of course iw anst, but it just hurt alot.
but then i come abck, eat lo mein, and cheer up. i ahev plans to amke a tshirt with trepp next time he's in town, so im excited. he came into school today, nad i did a double take, bc i thoguth he left tuesday, btu i t was nice seeing him again. and now im watching my favoritest movie ever, which is eevr after while doing chem hw...what a life.

i learned a new dive, and i must say its sexy as hell. its supposed to be one summersault with a full twist, but its almost 1 1/2 twists. :)

yesterday, i ahd suchhhhhhhhhh a bad case of the mondays.

i went to jeff'd drill today:) we worked with ladders, which was intresting. i didn't know a ladder had that many parts...or that many instructions... it was fun though. and once jeff gets me the official application i can start doing alot more stuff. and maybe even get my firesuit? dare to dream. it was really fun going with my brother, it shwos how close we've grown over the past year.:) i still wish i was in boston visiting brian though...my mother was the one who decided against it and how shes reallllly upset bc she wishes she was there...oh well.

today was suprisingly good.
SOMEHOW, out of absolutly nowhere, i got a 90 on my math test which is a miracle beyond explanation.
i got on journal for central committee (lbmc) so im happy
and then we won our swim meet by about 40 points, and this was a pretty hard team. so thats good.
and my mom bought cheesecake, so im in heaven.

i have never felt as dumb as i have in the past two days. certain teachers aer just making me dumber. i am the only person alive who can do laundry and end up with one side of my hair full of laundry detergent. and let me tell you, it does not come out easily and now my hair is so yucky.and im just so mad. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE! i just dont understand how it happened. and the swim team is forcing me to wear my bathing suit thats way too small for school tomorrow which is so unbeleivably uncomfortbale that im bringing clothes to change into bc i know i will be crying in pain if i have to wear that for 12 hours straight. i ahve no problem with team spirit, but this idea is just not smart. but ill follow along with it anyway, bc i dont have a choice.

im going to go re-wash my hair:(

Jen from camp made a xanga. and im so happy. i miss her terribly, and now i get to know more of what she's up to. ...and tehn we reminisced some more about camp. i literlaly haev over a hundred memories from there, i can tell you almost every single thing that happend durign that week, and i ahev no clue why, i usaulyl dont haev that good of a memory

3 day weekend. what a wonderful phrase.
