Lan Mass4 went off without a hitch. For anyone who has hosted a LAN day, that is quite simply amazing! We setup a torrent file sharing program (Azureus) to distribute all the games over the LAN so we didn't have to worry about windows file shareing, it worked a treat. While we were all getting stuck into one game, the next was trickeling down in the background. All torrents were hosts on an intranet page, that was setup before the event. Just a note too, its the first time the house network has been fully stress tested - and that didn't go to shabby either.
The first game off the block was Track Mania Nations. Harry Proved his dominace here by posting his time, then spent the next 4 miutes not worried about the other racers (knowing that they would not even get close to his time) flying around in the external camera - or trying to drive his car from viewing 3km above the track. Scary point is that on some occasions he was still posting competitive times. The three tracks that I created were queued up first, and as a result no one posted a time on hardc0re. Sapper found the trick to "1" and as a result came in second (behind harry). "Loops" was also a fun one with people running around the house going... "I think I'm gonna puke" - good times good times.
Il2 was the next event, but this is where people proved to be soft - They were almost asked to leave. ("double the first reference for all the n00bs out there). "Oohhhh I dont like flying" - Because you are weak. "Ohhh I dont have a joystick" - I fucken told you to get one before the event 5 weeks in advance. "Ooohhhh this games too hard" - Well go and play at a softcore LanX event then, when the hardest game you will play you actually have to reload your weapon beofore you run around the corner to get shot..FFS get some balls and have a go! I think the Whiny Bitch hex spell had a field day here.
The next game up was Quake3 - Kudos to Brando who just took the title in the first match. Retribution was the name of the second, looks like I found some form. It has been too long since a good session of Quake 3 has been had.
Call of Duty2 - Once again the WWII style shooter has proven a favourite. Kudos to Sim for this one, he was a fair shot with a rifle, securing head shots for most of his kills, and also Waza who's death count was alawys consitantly low. I also have to give some loven' to the team in the computer room (Dyso Mass Harry) under great odds (3-5) managed to consistantly win the team death match rounds, and gave a good sporting run in the capture the flag rounds.
By Midnight (12 hours on) the bulk of the gamerz packed up their gear, gave their regards, then left. Which left us with the hardc0re unit of undying gamers, Namly Sim Runt Dyso Mass and Harry. Online Track Mania was the call, this proceeded until about 3:15 am and on a number of occasions the gents of Lan Mass4 would secure two of the three podium places, generally not too bad - but considering they were the Lan Mass hardc0re gamers, its not supprising.
Memorable moments: 1.Lan not functioning because there was a feedback loop in the switch. 2.Everytime a Mobile phone rang, the call of "INVOKE FIREWALL" could have been heard ringing through out he house. -Questions asked if Invoke firewall was possible not by a missus but by a mate? Sms out of the blue at 2am? hmmm. 3.Nick, not burning the house down this time.. just BBQing my cooking tools. - Thats it Nick you are not going near my BBQ again! - No Fist. 4. Waza's "Cow Spider" that we needed to get a baseball bat to get rid of.
People who get no fist: All those that said they were going to come, and didn't. You know who you are.
Damn I loved that gaming sessions, I am sure eveyone else did too. Just have to start planning the next one!
Game on! |

Lan Mass4 - Spells

|
In light of the up coming Lan Mass4 Event, we have been getting into the mood by developing our own spells Hexes and curses. If anyone has any to add, go for it!
Name: Pending Need {Hex spell} Submitted By: Mass Hex spell, Lasts for 8 hours. When applied at workplace your character will feel the effects: Will to play +4 {100% Chance while at work} Work Concentration -2 Gameplay Tactics +2 {Requires 9 to Game Expertise}
Name: Forlorn Hope Submitted by: John Description: x Days without the ability to game. This situation arises when the gamer has been unable to game for a period of time equaling time the inverse of the game expertise of the player. The Players affected by the forlorn hope spells unable to see a point in the future whereby they will able to access an opportunity to game. The player becomes despondent, and in rare cases suicidal. Forlorn Hope is a dangerous curse and may be activated by the following dire environmental situations: 1. Broken PC/s 2. Lack of Net connection. 3. Virus 4. Busy work environment Will to play +1 {100% Chance, however as despondency progresses the will to game actually decreases -10 % per day} Life Points -15 The affects of Forlorn Hope may only be resolved with an all day LAN event.
Name: Invoked Firewall Submitted by: Mass Description: Substitutes All Day LAN Event buff with "spend quality time" curse. When the character is trying to remove the Forlorn Hope spell their only option is the All Day LAN Event buff. The respective partner of the character can actually interrupt this buff by the Invoked Firewall Signet. The Signet gives +5 to "spend quality time" for the partner, which in turn, can reduce or is some extreme cases remove the All Day LAN event. The inherent effect of the player is a -25% for Will to Play and a +4 to "Under the Thumb". However the effects of Invoked Firewall can be countered in three ways. 1. The "Inclusion Signet" - If used correctly the inclusion Signet can have a lasting effect on the partner. Which your character shares the All Day LAN Event buff. A problem can arise here in that the buff will wear off quicker, and the player finds himself back home. 2. Deny Firewall. A temporary solution - Player nullifies the Invoked Firewall for a short period, but receives negative morale once the buff has finished. 3. Not get close enough to the Partner for them to cast Invoke Firewall. For best results, your partner should not be trained in this skill.
Accuracy Signet Submitted By: Harry (Accuracy logo from Q3A embossed in stone) Inflicts two consecutive hits over 2 seconds for (80...100) damage each against n00bs and (50%...100%) chance of causing Whinging Bitch if targeted characters level is lower. Cannot be evaded or blocked. 60 second recharge 1/4 cast time +20 energy |

"Double the FIST" - "Ahhh yeahhh..." "Why don’t you roll over baby and let me get the other side!"
The weekend that was Mr and Mrs Michael Fraser’s wedding - Grats guys.
Damn. Now that is what I call a good game. "How about that local sporting event" Well it went a little something like this.
Preseason training:
Sydney - Melbourne.
Practice Match
The practice match was held on the Thursday before the game. Most of the team showed up. Apart from Andy, who wasn't actually told the practice was on. This was poor communication by the team, and we really should work on that before the game day.
Warm-up:
Mexican Graffiti - Horses, pool.
Game day:
Big breakfast care of andybotting.com's mum. Early mud came in contact with Timmy's crotch, but he was able to pull through.
Traveling to the ground:
Quick stop off to get some supplies for the game. The first, the emblem for our footy tops. Second, the refreshments from Dan Murphy’s<. We had caught rumor that there were no refreshments provided at the game, and we didn't what our electrolytes level to drop below anything that resembled light inebriation. So charged with the personalized flasks that were given by the captain, the team "Tim Tom and Andy" would remain strong and true all day. Always picking up the 1 presenters.
Suit up:
We arrived at the church with approx 30 mins until kick off. And went into the change rooms (ministers House next door) to get the footy tops on. Once suited up we proceeded back to the church for some stretching and to meet the fans. As it was getting closer to kick off we ran though the banner and awaited for the opposition at the alter.
Kick off:
The TAB was running hot with Tim Tom Andy and the Captain all placing bets on how late the bride would be. The stats went a little like this.
Andy 0-5mins late
Gabba 10-15mins late
Timmy 20-25mins late
Tom 25-30mins late
As it all turns out we all lost our money, and she showed up very impressingly mind you in the 5-10 min gap between Andy and Gabba.
Game on
Offering 1 more chance to the captain to defer the game to a later date (as all good best-men should do) the siren sounded and it was on for young and old. Kudos to Andy who in missing the practice still performed well on the day.
The soppy bit!
Jen looked beautiful! Her brides maids had done a fantastic job. The service went off without a hitch, no rings were lost, and with the help of the service manual or itinerary I think they call it no words were forgotten.
Note: There was one point in there where I was questioning the dedication of our Captain. He was looking into the oppositions eyes, and muttered something like "I will" - I got the sense he had this undesirable urge to start the end of season trip right there and then, before the game was even finished!
Doing it for the fans:
After the game, I think we conscripted a player from the other team. We all went back and signed a form which transferred the captains from Team Barry, over to our side - "Team Fraser - Double the fist". She's a decent enough player so its cool to have her on the team.
We after a lot of photographs and meeting the fans again, we were taken via Limo Yeah that’s right to various locations around Queens Cliff to get the shots for the yearly calendar. I hear October is going to be a killer.
The after Party
After the photos were done we arrived at the after party. The time was 6:00pm and we hadn't had anything to eat since the awesome bacon and eggs at andybotting.com's mum mums house. I tell you what, they Doubled the Fist with the beef and tomato soup. Damn good. The flasks were working overtime by now, and the head waiter clicked onto what was going on very early on, by the number of jugs of coke that were ordered by the groomsmen. The contingency plan, set in motion via the keyword abort involved the three groomsmen leaping through the glass window behind the table oh honor into the fern garden outside. Crude, but effective.
The speeches that Gab received were very cool. Most proving some sense of advice or past experience that could help him. His best man's speech was interesting, since he forgot his speech notes - At least he remembered the rings.
Footy Trip
The end of season footy trip really has my gripes up. Seems like after all the work the team put in, the captain went on the footy trip with new recruit and left the rest of us behind. He'd better had a good time, maybe he is testing the skills of the new player. DOUBLE THE FIST....
Grats to Gabba and Jen for tying the knot.

#1 - "A ball of twine" - (Almost as good as the sponge the other year) - its green. #2 - "A box with a card in it" #3 - "Sister giving herself a Chris Cringle present"
My sister got left out of our Chris Cringle this year. Apparently she was too old to be included in the "kids sweep" but as she is not working full time she cannot be expected to pay the $$ to the in the adult sweep. Result: - NOTHING! (but she did buy herself a bottle of wine and stuck it under the tree which she gave herself.) Sux to be 21.

Hey!
Well its been too long again, I still have the "jumping monkey" (Gir)
as my image, and yes I am still alive. Tiesto has released another In
search of Sunrise (4), so I am happy. I have just had a read of the
following, one of the best online articles that I have read in a long
time.
http://www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/games/manifesto.html
If you are a gamer then give it a go. The article supports such comments as:
"THE
VERY FIRST FUCKING PERSON TO EVER PUT A JUMPING PUZZLE IN A
FIRST-FUCKING PERSON GAME SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED, TIED DOWN AND HAD HIS
EARS FILLED WITH PISS"
"
The first time we hear the word "patch" in relation to a PS3 or XBox 360 game, we're taking the console back to the store. Filled with our shit."
and
"
Yeah, that's what she wears into battle. Thong-length kimono, no bra for those flopping DDD breasts."
In all seriousness, the guy has some points, something needs to be
done with today’s gaming industry. I just hope that some of the right people
read it.

| » What a day |
Yo. Things started to go bad when I got to work, apparently some evil shit went down with our e-commerce website on the change of year, and since then no one has been able to by EA. I basically got a "Its broken, fix it" from the boss, and it all went downhill from there. Next thing to go wrong was a router in Perth. Why would that effect us? well apparently for a user tring to connect from Bendigo to Creswick they have to go via Perth, good internet. This routers ARP table seemed to be screwed in that any hop after it would not return any information. We ended up getting around the problem my VPN'ing into one of the dudes home networks, then using that gateway to VPN into work. Kinda cool, but I could have done without it. Next I was going to get my speakers and head unit put into my car, as the raido is driving me freaking bananas at the moment... too much talking. But apparently Strathfield are booked out to like next year. Then I was going to go to the movies, but found no one to go with and ended up beeing too tired to do anything, in the end Dyso and myself played 5 hours of Burnout 3 (Which is quite a good game) on the Xbox

Over all I rate today shitty (apart from the games) and we will see how tomorrow goes. Given I am going to get fuck all sleep I assume its not going to be cool. Oh yeah BTW, if anyone hasn't had a look at the US spy satellite article from slash Dot, i recommend a read. Something to pass the time with anyway. G008 to all, oh and we need to have another [730b] session soon... can anyone reccomend a new game for me to play on PC? kinda getting low in that department?

Ok guys so it is the last LAN-MASS for 2004. Commencing on Wednesday night (Starting approx 5pm). The because of the recent Hype of HL2, I thought we would give IL2 a go. Yes I know there is no comparrison but what the hey? I have had a copy installed for the past week and all I can say that wow.. talk about realistic! A few of you may remember approx 12 months ago (Gabba? Marty? - Even Jen.) when I had the game installed. Our aim was to get the plane off the ground... giving no second thought to actually trying to use the bloody thing in combat! But now... we fly.

So if you have a joystick let me know and rock on over, we currently have a pilot count of approx 5. I don’t expect this one to fill up due to the nature of it all, but its going to be a blast none the less!
Game on.
