Little Mac has grown a lot in one year.

I mentioned it last year, and I'll mention it again this year. I just got my annual free credit reports from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/ Well, I got Experian and Equifax anyway, TransUnion didn't like the data I put in so I had to call in and verify and they are mailing my report to me. Always have to make sure nobody has opened an Express charge card in my name again....

A funny video by a guy who walked around the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) using the TV-B-GONE to turn off all the TV's. Although its worth a good laugh, I kind of wonder if this guy isn't a real jerk as well.

Just thought I would take a chance to wish everyone a safe and happy New Years celebration!

I'll be spending the evening at home with my family and a few friends.

My family got together for a lunch today at Freestate. It must have been a little exciting for the kids, because when we got home, they were really worn out. I fed James and put him in his crib, Ada just fell asleep on the couch...





James doesn't like any lights on his eyes while he's sleeping, thats why he keeps his hands over his face. And yes, those are socks over his hands, but that wasn't just creative dressing, he's had a rash the past couple of weeks and we are trying to keep him from scratching too much.

My brother has decided to take up the sport of cage-match fighting. Not my extra-curricular of choice, but he won his first match last week.

If we do not wish to be trapped in dark rooms, I see childproof lightswitches in our near future.

Happy SysAdmin Day! My high school English teacher used to have a sign outside of her office which read "If you can read this, thank a teacher." A good revision for the web could be "If you can read this, thank a sysadmin."

Fun with the family on Vday evening

Melissa delivered James this morning at 8:20 am. He weighed a healthy 8 lbs and measured 20 inches. Mother and baby are doing well and I must say this the whole process is going a lot easier now that its the second time through.

Melissa and I had the pre-admission appointment at the hospital and confirmed her scheduled c-section yesterday. It will be at 1pm on Feb 7th. So James Jr's birthday will be 02/07/2007. We are very excited and of course a little frantic since the date seems to be approaching rather quickly. Definitely have lots to do, like make sure we are fully stocked in newborn baby care supplies and I need to find the base to our infant car seat - it was probably stored in the attic above the garage. I'm sure the preparation will pay off, especially if baby J. is as fussy as as Ada was when she was newborn. Lots of excitement :)

Melissa and I had a very busy, but enjoyable, Thanksgiving weekend. It actually started on Wednesday night with a dinner at my fathers house. He cooks a traditional holiday chilli. Thursday was a drive through Southern Kansas down to Fort Scott where we had dinner with my mothers side of the family. It was fun seeing Ada play with her cousin. Finally, Melissa's brother came to visit on Saturday and she cooked up a big meal with turkey, ham, and all the fixin's.

Lots of time in between meals was spent organizing the garage, getting the Xmas decorations out of the attic, and watching some really good Jayhawks basketball.

Tess and Rob's wedding went well. Ada was a cute flower girl, even though she didn't like wearing the flower tiara that was made for her.

Melissa and I are going to the Battlestar Galactica Premiere at the Sprint IMAX theatre on Tuesday, should be fun!

I've Been keeping myself busy the past couple of weeks with house chores - painted the bedroom, ran gigabit ethernet drops around the house, and installed a attic ladder. Next things on the list are remodel the office - I think we are going to go for a jayhawk theme and look into rebuilding the deck (if budget allows).

Ada is standing up all over the place, she will pull herself up on our pant legs when she wants us to pick her up and when Melissa and I go into another room and shut the door, she will crawl over to the door and pull herself up against it. When I hold on to her arms, she will pull herself up and take a few steps towards me. I'm so happy to see my little girl walking. I'm sure that before I know it, she'll be walking without any help at all.

Last week, Ada started regularly pulling herself up while hanging onto furniture and taking small steps, or "cruising" as the baby people call it. We had been trying to encourage her to do this for the past 4 months, but all of a sudden she just started doing it on her own and completely unprompted. I've come to notice that is usually the way things work in the baby development cycle. Now we are focusing on her communication methods. She talks a lot, but mostly babble and baby talk. The words that she does say, like dada, mean more than just one thing. She will start saying dadadada anytime she is the middle of some fun activity, like playing with her blocks or carrying items and crawling back and forth across the floor.

Melissa and I just got back from a sonogram - which was really done to make sure that her placenta was moving up normally, and which it was - but we also got a close enough look to see the boy parts. We are very excited - Melissa especially since she will have the chance to go shopping for new baby clothes to replace all the girly and pink things that he won't be wearing.

Thank you very much to our nice neighbors. They were having a garage sale this morning and after they were finished invited us over to see if Ada would be interested in any of the kid toys that they couldn't sale. Ada picked out a couple of stuffed animals, but best of all, they gave us a box of tinkertoys. So, we had a lot of fun this evening putting together a little contraption.




Also, I'm making this post with crosspost as an attempt to keep in touch with all my friends who use livejournal, blogger, xanga, and myspace. It seems to be the popular thing and I've noticed that vox already allows built-in posting to typepad and consumating has built in crossposting to livejournal and blogger. Anyway, I'm suspicious about the formatting, but we'll see how it works out.
