I really don't talk politics if I can help it except with my baby brother because we're both on the same page. But I thought that I'd put this out there just in case someone stumbles across it who maybe wouldn't take the time to vote; and maybe I can change their mind.

Why am I even bothering to do this? Well, my brother T is in Afghanistan right now and every day I do yet don't think about it. If you don't know what I mean, that's quite alright. It's not something people who don't have loved ones in a war zone can really understand. And that's something to be thankful for.

So if you're one of those apathetic types who leans towards the mindset of 'well my vote won't really matter' or 'I'm too busy/lazy to go'; then do it for T.

Actually good enough for me to give a quick review. I'm a huge horror/sci-fi (especially when there's monsters involved) fan so my bias is inherent.

It's based off a novella by Stephen King which in my opinion is one of his best works. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they stuck to 90% of the story, the other 10% would be additions to the plot that were absent from the written version, like how it ended in the flick (bearing in mind it's been years since I've read it, so if I'm off on this, someone correct me).

In that regard, IIRC the book also only mentions that the larger creatures in the mist could not be seen (this is at the end when they're driving), but in the movie there is a nifty shot of one. The portrayal was such that I'm glad I saw this movie in the theater. Think Jurassic Park only otherworldly.

That brings up the other part I don't recall being in the short story (corrections here if needed if I'm off on this); what the mist (and its creatures) was (or better yet, where it was from). In the movie it's explained that it's actually another universe (application of M-theory; yey~ =D). It's a sweet premise for sci-fi buffs and the like.

And the whole reason I'm writing this... One of the characters is a fundy whacko going around preaching revelations/OT with a zeal like that of the Silent Hill fundies. A real 'blood for the blood god' kinda fundy (I kid you not, she actually demanded a blood sacrifice for the beasties in the mist). It was also interesting how the dynamic of the situation developed between her and the rest of the sheeple in the grocery... makes me wonder what a real sociologist would say about that kind of hypothetical situation. Forgive my digression. So yeah, lovely part is when she was trying to stop the last sane people left in the grocery from leaving by sic'ing her mob on them (all the whilst spouting that god demands a blood sacrifice), she gets shot.

And all the people in the theater let out a round of applause, it was good to see her kick it.

*Disclaimer: I by no means wish death on any crazy fundy who is off their meds... but damnit, I really hated her by the end of the flick and putting her out of her misery ended mine!

Why is her buttcape on fire? Because she is THE EVIL.

When you fight her she's got a stupid amount of life, her attacks... well, when she melee's you it HURTS. And apparently, her melee is stronger than Vincent’s (WHICH IS A LOAD OF CRAP). So lots of dodging comes into play until she starts SHOOTING HOMING FIRE MISSILE THINGS at you.

And DAMNIT that's annoying too.

Oh! And I didn't mention her speed. SHE is on angel dust to be moving like that.

Yeah, that's also annoying.

But then, when you're getting close to MURDERING HER SORRY ASS, she whips out her stupid.. electric whatever shots that GO THROUGH WALLS. D:

Then, just to add insult to injury, she throws in the friggin' homing fire missiles with the electric whatever beams that shoots through walls with her stupidly fast melee attack.

But that's not all... oh no, damn bitch has the WORST HAIR.

Yes you read that right. Her hair is a stupid mullet and she wears a furry buttcape. Hence, fuzzybutt as avmin named her. It's too fitting and I want nothing more in life than to see that STUPID buttcape catch fire.

That said... more DoC rant ahead [straight from a MSN rant to avmin; just cleaned up a bit for lj]:

FIRST OFF - Before ah get to the meat & potatoes so ta speak - My bro had ta educate me on how fps cut scenes are SO much better than DoC's... Cuz they're shorter & filled with violence & no talk. *shakes head* Though I guess I should be happy he hasn't given up on da game (giving him that extra keyboard does help my predicament [aside note: You can use the keyboard and mouse in DoC, and T prefers to use them for fps so he took the time to set up the controls for them the way he likes without knowing a damn thing about the Japanese language. He just, trial & errored his way through it until it was setup perfect for him.]) cuz I could NEVER beat the levels like he could *shakes head* no way~

So yeah... He ranted at me during the nifty cut scene. Q,Q Woe... Now ta the in game rant!! --->take 2---> YEAH! So WRO-HO got squished or pissed her pants or something! T said the big baddie crushed her & she's a cyborg so that's why her 'blood' was yellow... I'm sticking ta she pissed herself... cuz I’d rather not go with hydraulic fluids~ It just.. is so more fitting, or something, ta me. <,< nya~

And OMG ♥ Turk Vince in the flashback scene was ♥ ...Well, I already said ♥ but whatever! >o> Though me & T had a lot ta say about it, I’ll sum it up nicely:

So it's been a while (long while) since I’ve personally played a first person shooter... and it showed when I died three times on the first stage of DoC. Naturally, I had my bro take over and he completely pwns the game - HARDCORE. So he's tooling through the stages, figuring out how ta work everything without the slightest bit of Japanese knowledge and I'm sitting there in blatant awe as he DECIMATES every stage...

And the nifty thing is, I'll be able ta go back and capture all the good stuff later because of how it saves... I'm pretty sure of this at least~ Cuz this game deserves screen caps galore - and that is the understatement of the year. There’s probably a way to hook up my ps2 to my comp & just save that way... I’ll have ta figure that out eventually and re-edit this post so it makes more sense. Or just do a screen cap post... whatever.

I’ll start the spoilers with the actual opening of the game – before you get to the in game crapola. So while Yuffie is off prancing around she picks up a single life form still alive back (was this the sister ray area if I recall correctly?) in Midgar. Vincent goes ta check it out & its Hojo o’course, all slumped over & looking dead-ish. So Vince raises his gun ta put a few extra rounds into the bastard when BAM!! EXPLOSIONS!! XD

Vince looks back after the pretty red flames have cleared and Hojo is NOWHERE TA BE SEEN OMFG!!

Followed up by more explosions, then a quick save on Yuffie’s part with the fly’y bike thing cuz she finally finished prancing around. [EDIT: I realize now that she probably STOLE the flying bike thingie.]

It then went something like this: Stage mission, shoot, kill, kick with pointy boots, kill, shoot, blow shit up, mission, heal, figure out da damn gun, shoot some more, kill lot’s o’things, mission, mission, mission blah blah blah.

So when my bro made it to the end of the first chapter(?) Reeve shows up & we're both like: REEEEEVE!!!!

And he's got this guy in a red hat with him, whom we designated as WRO-Ensign and likely cannon fodder, when Reeve gets shot ta hell & back.

Mine & my bro's sentiments: NOOOOOOOOOO-

*Reeve falls apart and Cait Sith jumps out of the obviously fake body*

Me & T: -Oh.............. >,o

So then it continues on - and if you THINK you need a walkthrough besides ta know what the hell they're saying (and my bro kindly prevented me from listening & gleaming the slightest bit of insight into it with his completely random MST'ing of every cut scene we encountered) - think again! Cuz if it continues on like it has been, it's extremely linear. There's really nothing ta figure out besides how to modify your weapon and save mid-mission (second choice on start menu) for quitting time. Also, my brother instinctively KNOWS how to modify Vincent's weapon. It's sickening and I wish I could by osmosis pick up his vast knowledge of fps's. Q_Q

The part with the gattling gun – ROCKS. This happens directly following the cut scene where Reeve and Vincent were chatting and my brother insisted that Reeve was propositioning Vince for 1200 gil...

Yeah, so we also run across the WRO-HO. That's what we named her cuz her outfit - lab coat with skimpy HO... straps?! DOOD SHE'S BARLEY WEARING ANYTHING THAT'S ALL THERE IS TA IT. And she bitches at Vince for a while. She also reminds me of Lucrecia - of which there is a GREAT shot of her in the opening of the game where she's encased in Mako stalagmites or something; in her cave. But, Vince is just dreaming it or something - right before the town he's in gets shot ta shit. God I'm babbling. SO SHE REminds me of Lucrecia except she's got this closed left eye. Maybe she got some crap in it or something? Who the fuck knows, but slap an eye patch on her & give her a leather jacket and she'd make a great pirate captain-ess.

Then there was the SHINY BOOBY woman. My bro thinks she's trying ta rip off Vince’s look with her outfit and eyes - but DAMNIT HER HAIR HAS GOT TA GO! I've never seen something so reeee-diculous. She's got like... zany mutton-chops and shit. Although it was rather badass when she chopped the heads offa three guys in one shot. She should just use that damned double edged blade-scythe thing ta chop off her hair. Hell, she'd look better bald.

Yeah, right now she's chilling in the warehouse where she decapitated those dudes. I'm pretty sure we'll be facing her next.

The sad thing is that I’ve seen these characters on the official website and other where’s, but I’m too damn lazy ta find pic’s of what the hell I’m talking about.

Cosplay Contest Part 3 (wmv) All I should have to say for this one is: Stand up comedy by Cid Highwind (in the tradition of Lewis Black); and you should already be hitting the download all rapid fire like. It's damn good. And if you don't know who Lewis Black is, fuck, just go punch yerself. You deserve it. Note this is all of part 3 so you'll have to suffer through some cheesy and good stuff first. So there I was back in the year of 1995, waiting in line to get a comic book signed at the New York Comic Book Convention (in the Jacob Javits Center for all you other comic buffs out there).

I had ~~forced~~ asked my brother to get my X-Men Unlimited #1 signed for me while I waited on another signature. To which he accepted with: ~~Aww, do I have to? Fine you jerk.~~ Of course I shall lovely and wonderful sister of mine!

And when he returned with the signed book momentary anarchy prevailed...

See, the one thing you expect when you get a signature is, well, a signature. You don't expect to get blobs of the ink the signer was signing with all over your precious comic book.

So when I was handed the following, signed by inker Dan Panosian:

As you can see, the red circles indicate where the ink blotches fell.

I went a bit ape-shit. My first thought was: Well, what else could I expect from the inker of X-Men Alpha? He worked on that travesty, of course he'd do something like this just to SPITE me. (~~At that time in my life, I was constantly pitching a hissy fit over that series. I'm better now.~~)

Apparently, the man had a heart and felt so bad about dripping ink all over my comic that he did a drawing right there for my bro of whatever character he wanted. Which was of course Gambit (being his favorite). I would have gone with Illyana or Bishop because they rock so much ass, but alas, it wasn't I who was there at the time. Not to mention I would have leaped over the table and committed murder so it was better that way.

So, in direct relation to cause and effect => Signer + Leaky Pen = Original Art.

In tribute to the greatest female comic book persona of all times, I give you: Inferno in a nutshell.

First, if you find yourself here, and are silently asking 'who is this Illyana chick?', well you should go beat your head against the nearest wall until you die. Now, I could elaborate on the awesomeness that is She, but I won't because it's already been done.

Since by this point, you also must be an expert on Her Awesomeness, I present to you the first in a four book miniseries that started her career of awesome ass kickery:

Note that the awesome rocks you so hard you fall out of your chair. And if you're wondering, yes that is signed; by writer Chris Claremont. Go ahead and ogle my wares, I don't mind.

On the topic of the Inferno saga, we are taken on a whirlwind tour of the final days of the Darkchilde and how Illyana was returned to her wussy child-self. This sucked so much ass that I stopped buying the New Mutants comics not long after. They were nothing without her and the level of awesome that she brought to the group. NOTHING I tell ya. Don't believe me? Then go buy them and watch as they degenerate into a sucky bunch of wimpy babies.

I digress. Inferno spanned different X-books, but there were three New Mutants comics in particular that focused on Illyana. They are as seen in Exhibit A, B and C:

Then to defy all laws of the awesome, we are stabbed in the face with BABIES SACRIFICED IN DEMON SUMMONING. This broke my scale of awesomeness. True story.

Just because baby eating demons are so damn cool, we have demons busting up a church to get to the delicate baby-meat being withheld. And as a bonus, Dani is getting chowed on by a giant floaty skull of DOOM:

This all leads up to the beginning of the end of the beginning which ends. In which Illyana tries to kill her younger self from the past because she hates kids as much as I do:

Then Illyana gets SUPER pissed off at seeing her younger wussy child-self. She gets so pissed off she FLIPS OUT and MOLTS:

In a last ditch effort to destroy the wussy child her, she tosses her soul sword into the sky hoping it will fall to earth and impale the brat:

Unfortunately, in trying to rid the world of children, she breathes her last and is DEAD. Everyone mourns the awesome that was her and realizes that the series end is nigh since the remaining characters suck so much ass:

But what is this? NO! It's the invasion of the body snatchers! The bastard child-Illyana hid INSIDE Her Awesomeness! This was so disgusting that I had to go puke twenty times:

And so ends the summation of the Inferno saga. Now I know at this point you must be saying: 'WAIT!! You can't be serious, Lutz?! Her Awesomeness DIED and the shitty pod-child took her place?!'

And I say to you: It's okay you see, in Uncanny X-Men issue#303 the brat DIES due to the Legacy Virus. So fear not my children (whom I hate because I hate kids), all ends well. Accept this fact, for the writers had to kill her. She was too awesome for them to handle. Sad but true.

[To clarify: I loved child!Illyana just as much as I did the adult version, this summary is just my lousy attempt at humor. So yah, don’t bother trying to correct my way off base psychobabble either since I know how the story goes, trust me, I own all the comics.]
