death cab for cutie at the docks

last night was one of the best nights of my life, ever. I got to see death cab for cutie and not only did I get to see them, I was in the front of the front. clinging to the guardrail the entire night. it was beautiful, it was so cool.



alright, I'm already waaaay too far ahead, gotta start at the beginning.

liz (what a trooper, she's the bestest) got there at like noon and got in line and she was like the only person there, and two other girls showed up in front of her, but either way, she was like 2nd in line. I got there around 3:30 and chilled with her in line (note: the doors were at 8, so we were hxc about death cab lol) we waited and the hours passed (not that slowly, to my surprise)...we saw nick outside so I was like "shooooo, I fully brought stuff" so I went over and said hi and got him to sign my albums








and also, got some photos (care of liz)..the first one is me all excited waiting for him to come stand with me for a picture








then he scampered off into the depths of the kool haus and a while later, ben came out and rode off on his bike (I get the impression he doesn't like dealing with fans cos when he got out of the suv that took him to the edge for a radio interview, he like ran away) and that was the last we saw of him till the concert...


then we were waiting some more and liz got cold cos it got shady and she went to sit in the sun, and it looked like a super cool photo, so I took the liberty of taking one:





then janhavi and emma showed up just before the doors opened (nearly gave me a heart attack lol, cos I was getting all antsy, like "what if they don't make it before they open the doors? then what do I do?" but they got there and all was good) and a bit before they let us in, I guess these guys had food in their bags that wasn't gunna be allowed in, so the good ol game of throw-stuff-in-the-road-and-wait-for-someone-to-run-it-over (what? you've never heard of that one? whatever, it's what all the cool kids play) started up, and it was good jokes. it started out with an apple and then an orange and the entire crowd started to get really into it and everyone was like "come on, come on..AWWWWWW" it was really funny...then they threw out an empty 2L bottle of coke and a bag of chips and a carton of milk (with milk in it lol, that made a nice explosion) and there was a pudding cup too...lol, so I took a picture, but it was dark and everything so it didn't turn out that great, but you get the impression





when we finally got inside, it was like the most super coolest plan being executed - I had brought my backpack and this stool and all sorts of stuff, so I had to check my bag, and emma did as well...so as we went and got merch, janhavi and liz ran like the dickens to the stage...here's the shirt I bought:





so emma and I got our merch, then checked our bags and went to the loo and then to the stage and liz and janhavi were front and center all the way up at the bar! it was insane! so then janhavi ran off to get merch, when she came back liz went and we all ended up front and center again!


a little after nine youth group, the supporting group, came on...they were really keen, their set was pretty incredible and them seem like a solid band, took a few pictures


















then after their set was done, death cab came on and played. it was easily the best concert I've ever been to, they're all really into what they're doing and they put on such a great show. they sound exactly like they do on the album (I don't even know how that's at all possible cos the album sounds so complicated)...so I took lots of pictures (let me just add here: ben moves. constantly. so it's really tough to get a clear shot of him lol, cos he's always swaying or something, so forgive me)























































































































































and of course, per usual, I got video (it's pretty incredible...no one in front of me blocking my shots, sound came out pretty good, it's exciting!)

then we pretty much packed things up and called it a night. it was an awesome show and I'm still barely getting over it.
