driving in britain

I've been learning to drive a manual car lately and last night was lesson #2! things went surprisingly well, I didn't stall once, I only kangaroo'd a little bit and I felt really confident! I quite enjoy a manual car, I'm having to think less about everything (though I did forget to put the clutch in when I came to a full stop once..whoops) and I'm a lot better at correcting any mistakes I make. it doesn't feel strange driving on the opposite side of the road that I've grown up with, nor does sitting in the other side of the car! good progress this time, even my instructor said "have you been doing lessons since I last saw you? you're really good now!" we drove around a few small villages then moved to a couple larger towns and then I drove on this massive A-road doing 50mph (that's the only strange thing, is that everything's measured in miles...) I felt like a little birdy getting her wings, at one point I did a really smooth/fast transition from first to fifth gear and felt like going wheeeee!!!!! out loud (but I didn't) next time - the motorway!
