So far the most fun part of being engaged is surfing the internet for beautiful wedding gowns. I've been having a lot of fun "window" shopping and seeing what styles and silhouettes I like. I've compiled photos of a few of my favorite gown styles and details, as well as one makeup photo. Check them out!

I'm engaged! Ryan proposed on Sunday morning before Easter breakfast! My ring was in my Easter basket inside a plush zippered egg. That was the best Easter ever!

| News! |
[29 Jan 2007|07:06pm] |
Well, I haven't posted for a good long while. A lot has gone on since my last post.
First, Francine and Bryan are getting married in March! Bryan proposed on Christmas day after we opened presents. He had put the ring (which is gorgeous, by the way) inside a stuffed animal with an open mouth, which was inside a box that held all of their mementos, which was inside a huge box wrapped with a tag for Bryan. We had Christmas dinner with Ryan's family and then with mine. Needless to say, we had a really amazing Christmas.
Ryan and I celebrated our one year anniversary on the 16th of January. We went out to dinner at Morton's and had a wonderful dinner.
I bought myself a paid account and upgraded to 100 userpics. Unfortunately, my computer kind of died soon after so I haven't been able to play with the userpics. I just bought a new laptop online-- a 17" Sony Vaio. It should be here some time mid-week.
Lastly, Ryan and I bought a house this past weekend! It won't be ready until August, since it's a brand new two-story Pulte in a really cute community. Take a look at the house here! I especially love the front entry and the fact that the laundry room is upstairs... oh, yeah, and the fact that it'll be our first home!

| Job! |
[14 Oct 2006|03:04pm] |
After much searching and waiting... I finally have a job! And I got the job I really wanted. I went in for an interview with Antigua on Wednesday morning, and I just got the call that my drug test came back fine (duh) and that I can start on Monday! I'll be a logo coordinator, which means that I will be coordinating colors of the different shirts with colors of thread for the logos as well as working on different logos for clients. I'm really excited to start working.
Yesterday Ryan and his family and I spent all day at Disneyland. Ryan and I flew out to LA on Thursday and flew back on Friday night after dinner at the Blue Bayou restaurant in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Our room at the hotel was awesome. They upgraded us to a jacuzzi room because they didn't have any king rooms left. It was really nice to have that cute little red, heart-shaped hot tub in the room for some before bed relaxation. After Ryan's parents, Francine and Bryan arrived in Anaheim by car, Francine and Bryan met up with Ryan and I at the delicious Jazz Kitchen restaurant in Downtown Disney. Dinner was fabulous and I even bought some guitar picks (15 to be exact) to be made into earrings at the House of Blues for under five dollars. If I had purchased a pair of ready-made earrings there, I would have had to shell out 12 bucks! I'll save a hell of a lot by making my own. Sweet!
That's all for now. I'm just waiting for Ryan to get back from Bands of America in Flagstaff.

MST3K - Boggy Creek II: And The Legend Continues |
] |
In preparation for the December trip to Chicago that Ryan and I are taking, I decided to knit a few winter-weather items. I decided on Knitty's Fetching, a pair of fingerless gloves I had wanted to make since I saw them, and a matching cabled hat. I decided to use the beautiful yarn Ryan got me for my graduation present. Below are the pictures of the gloves and hat, and further down, the details of the projects. Many thanks to Ryan for playing photographer for the day.
( Lots more behind the cut )
Project Details - Fingerless Gloves Pattern: Fetching by Cheryl Niamath Needles: #7 metal DPNs Yarn: Artful Yarns Jazz (50% Wool, 50% Alpaca) in Miles colorway (# 55). I used way less than one skein. Pattern Modifications: I only cast on 35 stitches, instead of the recommended 45. Firsts: This was my first cables project and my first time doing a thumb hole with waste yarn and knitting the live stitches after removing the waste yarn. The Verdict: I LOVE these! The cabling was quite fun and I love the finished effect. I also really love the way the four-color yarn looks knitted up. I think it's really subtle and gives a totally different look from a variegated yarn.
Project Details - Cabled Hat Pattern: None, but the cable patten is based on Fetching by Cheryl Niamath Needles: #7 circulars, #7 metal DPNs Yarn: Artful Yarns Jazz (50% Wool, 50% Alpaca) in Miles colorway (# 55). I still didn't use up all of the first skein. Firsts: This was my first time decreasing cables and ribs in the round. The Verdict: I think this hat turned out really nicely. I like the way the cables open up when I'm wearing the hat. This project gave me confidence in my ability to create patterns on my own.

| School's Out For Summer! |
[16 May 2006|10:59pm] |
Well, I survived both of my graduation ceremonies without tripping on stage. The honors one was especially nice since each graduate received his/her honors sash from his/her thesis director, so Dr. Thompson presented me with my honors sash and hugged me. The liberal arts convocation Friday morning was really early and long (CLAS has a huge amount of students) but enjoyable since I sat next to a friend from one of my honors classes.
The last few days have been nice too-- I'm catching up on sleep and my need to do nothing but sit on my ass. I've been knitting a lot, finishing old WIPs and starting new ones. I'm putting together a binder of patterns I want to try, categorized by type of item/garment. I've also checked out some knitting books from the library to take a look at *wink, wink*
Tonight I'm making up the sleepover I didn't get to have with the boyfriend. ;)
I'm going to post tomorrow with some knitting projects and yarn. Look for that.

I have 3 more excursion journals to write (from 14) and 7 or so reading responses to write (from 10) and a 7 page paper all due tomorrow for my honors class. I also have a final in my science class that looks like it's going to be a bit tough. Faced with all this, I just want to knit. Or sleep. I even missed out on a sleepover with the boyfriend because of all this work :/

Jack Johnson - Better Together |

As the title says, I finished my thesis! I had my defense yesterday at noon and it went really well. My three readers, Drs. Thompson, Perry and Dalton, really liked it and decided to accept it without revisions. So, I don't need to make any changes to it before I turn it in to the honors college. I'm going to create a title page and turn it in tomorrow before my honors class. It feels so good to have it finally finished. I can finally do other things... and things for *gasp* fun! I'm so excited to be able to knit again. I'm so excited to be able to see my friends again.
But... I still have to do a whole bunch of back homework for my honors class and for my French class. So, on that note, I'm going to get to work on some French homework.
I'm thinking of turning this into a paid account. I want 100 userpics. ;)

| FUCK |
[01 Mar 2006|12:42pm] |
Great... JUST great. So, I've been sick for the past four weeks or so. I was just about over the first cold when I woke up last Friday with another sore throat. It's been all downhill from there. This morning I wake up at 7 AM to realize my left eye is all puffy and runny. Great, I have fucking pink eye. AND on top of that, I can't speak... I lost my voice. It doesn't seem like I'm getting better, just worse.
I have an appointment with my doctor, who rocks, at 3:15 so hopefully he can tell me what's up and give me something for my eye. I have so much stuff to do this week, it's not even funny. I have to meet with Dr. Thompson about my outline today and I am also supposed to meet with my honors class partner, but I can't now that I have to go to the doctor. I really don't need this.

| To-Do List |
[24 Feb 2006|11:27am] |
joeytheteapot gave me the great idea of posting a to-do list. I know I'm leaving things off.
- Finish thesis outline - Transcribe Jesse Berger interview - Read first chapter in Revenge Tragedy - Finish and felt knitted pouch - Get overdue fanlistings up - Post on my science class webboard - Write up honors class journals - Do make-up work for French - Call friends - Stay sane through all of this

| One Down, One To Go |
[31 Jan 2006|01:32pm] |
As you can see, there is a new layout up. I used a photo I took of some graffiti in an abandoned lot outside of Paris, France when I was there in 2003. I'm happy with it for now.
I finished one of the wristwarmers yesterday instead of doing school work. I'm really proud of it. I solved the problem of the thumb hole by pretending I was working on straights and instead of working around and around, I worked back and forth. I don't know if that really makes sense... it's a little hard to explain. Anyway, here's a photo of what it looks like.

| An FO and a WIP |
[29 Jan 2006|04:11am] |
I recently finished the brown/rainbow homespun scarf I had been working on. I've worn it to class several times and I've gotten a few compliments on it so far. It's quite warm and soft, but the fringe keeps shedding. Here are some pictures.

( Two more photos behind the cut )
In the last few days, I've started a pair of fingerless gloves/wrist warmers in this lovely variegated worsted yarn. I'm working them on size 6 DPNs but I don't know how to make the vertical hole for the thumbs. I'll need to google that, I think. Here are pictures of one of the wrist warmers so far.

So right now I'm in the computer lab in the basement of the LL building killing time before my 3:15 science class. I had intended to work out at the SRC in the 3 hour gap between the end of French and the 3:15 class, but I have a killer headache and don't feel much like working out.
I was able to get my schedule in order and get all the classes I wanted. One spot opened up for Eric's honors class and a couple spots opened up in Brad's French class. Huzzah! I was able to meet with an honors advisor yesterday. With the honors class, my thesis and the class I'm going to footnote I will be all set to graduate from the honors college. Now I just have to meet with my major advisor tomorrow and make sure that I have everything I need to graduate. I have a tendency to distrust the advisors sometimes since they often miss things or tell students different things each time. I have a sinking feeling that the advisor will tell me I need some additional class that she had previously told me I didn't need.
Last night, I was able to finish the body of that scarf I was working on. I just need to bind off, weave in the two ends, and add the fringe. It looks quite nice. No holes like the first scarf I knitted and the fabric is pretty even. I'm excited because I might even get to wear it this week since it's been uncommonly cold.
Well, I'm going to wander over to the life sciences building for my 3 hour class. Ick. This better be good.

| School Stuff |
[16 Jan 2006|02:07am] |
I haven't posted in a while. I've been to busy reading the what seems like endless articles for my thesis. I still have eight articles left to finish before Tuesday. Tuesday is the first day of the Spring semester, and I don't really want to go back. I have to start writing my thesis at this point, and I'm a tiny bit (read= a lot) worried about it. I'm also worried about my classes this semester. I don't have the French teacher I wanted, so I had to email Brad, my teacher from last semester, to see if he's teaching in Spring. I would love to have him again and I hope my schedule works with the time he's teaching. I also need to add my thesis hours (I need the line number from the Eng. office) and I need an override for two honors classes that are full. Oh, and I need to make appointments with both my Eng. and honors adivsors. Suck.
I'm almost finished with the body of the scarf I've been working on. After that, I need to add the fringe. I can't decide what I'll work on next... the Triple H hat I've designed or the Harry Potter scarf. Hm... decisions, decisions.
