Off to Yokohama to see Cirque du Soleil with Maki-chan today -- so excited!!

Visited with Oncewassparkle and to say this place is stripped bare is a bit of an understatement, all the floors ripped out and left like that never seen owt like it. Despite that i really enjoyed it and was really pleased when we found the lucifer effect bits, right a bit of history. Rauceby Hospital, originally called Kesteven County Asylum, is a now-defunct mental institution in the parish of Quarrington, Lincolnshire. Building work was commenced in 1897, the facility was completed and opened in 1902. After changing hands and names several times the main hospital building was closed in 1998 and abandoned for several years. From 2004 parts of the site underwent redevelopment to convert it into private housing. On with a few pics....  
Miki is four months old today, and I think that officially marks his passing from 'sweet little guy' to 'stroppy teenager'. The signs are all there: the refusal to sit even when I know he knows that command (and does it very happily when there's something in it for him, like getting his leash put on for a walk), the peeing on things indoors to mark his territory (which to be fair I've only seen him do once and I put such a fear of god into him that I'm fairly hopeful he won't do it again in a hurry) and last night's incident, where he showed his displeasure at what a terrible, terrible, horrible owner I was for refusing to give him a slice of my pizza by bouncing up and down at the opposite end of the sofa and barking his head off in impotent rage 9___9 Just you wait, monster: only two more months to go until I can take you to get your balls chopped off. That'll teach you :D And speaking of which, what did Miki get for his 4-month 'birthday' present, you might ask? Well, he got.... a rabies vaccination!! Flea medication!! Mosquito medication!! Best birthday ever, am I right? On the plus side, when we got home from the vet I set up the desktop fan in the living room and while he isn't altogether convinced just yet, I get the feeling he's going to be a big fan of it when the weather gets warmer, ha-ha.

Dom & Sub is a body of illustrative work in digital media that attempts to humanize practitioners of BDSM and offer a representation of kinky sex that not only refutes negative stereotypes but informs the audience that sadomasochistic play is done best between happy, healthy, and consenting adults. I portrayed the couple in the work not only engaging in S&M play but also building a “scene” together and nurturing one another after the play has concluded; these are moments often left unconsidered or completely ignored in visual representations of S&M. I believe it’s important to see how kinky scenes are crafted with care, commitment to safety and enthusiastic consent in order to limit those times when sadomasochistic play is used to abuse or dehumanize other human beings. It is my hope that my audience will learn from the illustrations that sadomasochistic play is not always dark or scary, and that fellow ‘kinksters’ can enjoy tender representations of S&M that do not ridicule or pathologize them. I’ve designed the work to engage sadomasochistic imagery, material and theory with an ethical conscience.

The study, gleaned from an online survey involving 1,000 women between the ages of 19-39, found that women on lower-dose oral contraceptives (less than 20 micrograms of synthetic estrogen) were twice as likely to report pelvic pain during or after orgasm than those on contraceptives with higher estrogen levels, or those who weren’t on the pill at all.
These symptoms can be quite burdensome and painful depending on their severity and the way they affect quality of life,” lead researcher Dr. Nirit Rosenblum told The Daily Beast. “Young women in particular need to be aware of these adverse side effects because they are generally being prescribed the low-dose pills.
Rosenblum, who specializes in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City, said she and her partners first noticed the link between low-dose pills and pain amongst their patients.
I’ve been taking this type of pill without any such issues since I was a teenager, before I even knew what pre-ejaculate was, let alone exactly how the pill prevented baby-making.
