sooo it's spring break!

friday I went to starbucks with a few people and then went back to Jake's house where we played Scrabble, and that was fun. Saturday was the pillow fight on wall street! there were thousands of people there and it was like an extremely comfortable mosh pit although I was coughing up feathers after. then i went to emily's house with jen and we watched sweeney todd! and sunday was my grandma's 88th birthday so i spent the day in queens eating rainbow cookies and playing scrabble. and monday i went to see Adventureland with Jen and Brian and it was a hilarious movie! and yesterday was tuesday and i went to port jeff with ally and sam and then went to the mall with sam, shannon, seema, and jake, where we bought jake some new clothes and then i went to starbucks with eric who i met at a party a couple of weeks ago and that was fun and i made new friends, and then i went to a party at bharte's house where i reminisced with my elementary school best friend who i haven't spoken to in three years and i jammed to george michael and didn't drink at all and knighted brian with a plastic sword and it was awesome!

and now i'm home and last night i had weird insomnia: i fell asleep at 1.45 but woke up at like 5.45 and stayed awake for over an hour and then fell asleep till almost noon. verrrrry weird!

So I'm coming to the end of highschool. It's weird knowing I won't be living on Long Island next summer. I went to the beach last week and I've been driving around near the water and it's so beautiful and peaceful and I really love it here. I know that I'll probably be happy at whatever college I choose to attend but I think I'll miss it. The Sound, the salty water that burns every crack in your leg, the jutting rocks, the swans, the marshes, the smell of low tide, the sea gulls that steal your bagels, the seaweed, the Atlantic, the lighthouses. IDK a lot of people say "I can't wait to get off LI!" when they graduate highschool but I don't feel that way. Long Island is a part of me and I've always felt connected to the coast. I'm just feeling a little sad I guess.

Have you all ever had a nightmare where YOU are the bad guy and bad things happen to your life because you're doing bad things? I had a nightmare last night that I shot someone, but I can't remember if it was my math teacher or my friend's mom or something, but either way, I woke up at 4:30 in the morning practically in tears because what a horrendous thought, right?

Then I fell back asleep and had another nightmare that I was being held captive with a whole bunch of other people by this random blonde-haired girl at my cousin's house and I don't know why I was being held captive because this girl was could have obviously been overpowered by all the people that were stuck there and she never presented any kind of weapon. Very strange. I woke up just as the police were going to come to free everyone.

Sooo after the snow shenanigans on Friday afternoon, I managed to get into another snow thing with Laura hah. We were trying to leave our house, but our car got stuck on a bump of snow on the bottom of the driveway (the ones created by plows). We foolishly thought we could just drive over it and the car just got more stuck. SO realizing this predicament, we got some shovels from the house (and this was about 9.45 at night) and started shoveling. I have never shoveled snow in my life and we must have transported like 200 pounds at least. I was wearing completely inappropriate snow gear (a wool jacket, cottom gloves, and designer boots which were not made for snow) and my hands were freeeezing but we finally got the car to go back up the driveway. We got back inside and my we couldn't stop laughing because we felt so ridiculous for shoveling snow till around 11 at night and my parents had absolutely no idea that we were still out there. We had opened the garage, retreived shovels, and yelled while outside but they didn't hear us. Weird.

Then yesterday I went into the city with my famiglia. We went to John's Pizza (the one in the theatre district) and I ran into none other than Mr. and Mrs. Gallucci (Ms. Belli)! It was extremely weird to see teachers from my school at a restaurant 50 miles from where I live but pretttty exciting. After eating we went to see The Fantasticks, and the play was in a reallly small theatre so no one was more than 30 feet from the stage. We were in the second row AND THE MALE LEAD WAS PLAYED BY THE DOUCHEY GUY WHO WON THE AMAZING RACE THIS SEASON. I KNOW. I was starstruck the whole time hahahahaha. That was an interesting surprise as well.

All in all, goooood weekend.

How has it affected yours?

View 501 Answers

Welll everyone knows about HIV Peer Educators Club. This year I think we successfully educated freshmen about the dangers of AIDS, esp that you can contract HIV through unprotected oral sex if you're the one giving it so that's a little known fact that can be extremely helpful to anyone. I consider myself something of an expert when it comes to AIDS transmission, so if you have a question, don't be afraid to ask!
Hey y'all. This weekend I went down to Georgetown to visit Laura. On Friday we watched the Mr. Georgetown pageant which is like a beauty pageant for the guys who best embody the "Georgetown Spirit" and all of the contestants represented a different student organization. The guy who won ("Mr. Club Filipino") performed a song with Laura's friend Miggy so that was nice. The guy who hosted was a graduate of the college and now is a professional juggler hahaha and he was actually pretty good at it too. We got to see Laura's house and her housemates and her garden. The guys who live next door put a couch and chair in their front yard and they sit out there and call it "camp David" hah.

Today I mainly slept and caught up on shows that I missed. Getting real pumped for the election now that it's evident that Obama will win. He's the first presidential candidate that really inspires me and makes me optimistic for our changing world. I think he can lead us into the future and be an aid of both world peace and tolerance. Basically I think he'd be as well-intentioned as Jimmy Carter and as effective as Bill Clinton. Ultimiate hybrid of great ideas and leadership. Wooo I'm starting to feel all patriotic now.

The next debate is at Hofstra University (maybe like 15-20 miles from where I live) so if I'm back from the opera I'm going to do some coverage with James and the CNN tent. Ahh I cannot wait until the inevitable landslide that the election will be!

Okayyy so the rest of this week was good! BEN FOLDS WAS AWESOME and Dean and I had so much fun seeing him. We were like 15 feet from the piano and at one point he came to the edge of the stage and he was literally 3 feet from us. So amaaaaazing.

This weekend has been fun! I didn't go out on Friday because I had to write an essay that was due online and I had to study for the SAT which was yesterday. I think I did okay. I didn't leave any blank so we'll seeeee. I want to break 2100, because last time I was only 20 points off and ahhh.

Then yesterday I went to Borders with Steph and it was so crowded and people were playing chess and it was loud and I loved it! I felt like I was a part of a community and it was really nice. Then today I went to Borders with Jen haha and I've been reading this book there that I've been too poor to buy called Downtown Owl and it's by my favorite author (Chuck Klosterman) and y'all should really check it out. So now that I have my license I've been driving and it's a little nervewracking but it's fun! And I park really far from Borders because there are all of these pull-through spots in front of Sports Authority so whatever at least I'm getting the job done.

The Amazing Race was on tonight and my mom wants to go on it haha.

Tomorrow is a gov test that I think I'll own and also English Honor Society! Pretty excited for EHS.

That's it!

So this weekend was the mp3 experiment!! Ally, Sam, and I went into the city and milled about Governor's Island for a bit before it started, and when it did start, it was awesome! I got to for a tetris block with people I've never met, and Ally and I had a thumb war and everyone got to hit each other with balloons! A+A+ WOULD DO AGAIN.

And tomorrow Dean and I are going to see Ben Folds!! It's at Terminal 5 (56th and 11th) and we're going to grab something to eat in Columbus Circle where there could perhaps be an Anderson citing! The CNN buildings are in that area, after all, so hopefully I'll see him entering or leaving or something. Verrrry exciting.

This year is going pretty well so far! My classes are great but math is kinda hard so we'll see how that goes. And I'm in love with a chem teacher secretly even though he's not my teacher haha.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO MY JEWISH FRIENDS. ראש שנה שמח

Wow it's been a looong time.

School started and I absolutely LOVE my gov class. It contains me, Ally, Sam, Jake, James, CJ, Dean, and Joe which is basically the entire Political Awareness Club+Greg, Mike Hogan, Brian Harte, etc. We have to do this competition where we prepare a report about a certain section of the Constitution and every class has to work as a team and I honestly cannot foresee our team losing. The class is just so stacked that it's unbelievable. We really got lucky with that one.

Well Rob no longer works at Borders, so I've found a new employee to be secretly in love with. His name is Adam and he is legitimately good-looking. We'll see where this goes.

Friday night was Acoustic Cafe which is when they turn the school cafeteria into a "cafe" of sorts and people play music. It was fun! The Physics Club played, and Ben was wearing a sideways hat that said Dix Hills Jewish Center on it hahah, and Brian played a Jonas Brothers song which solidifies even more the fact that he and his brother slightly resemble the JoBros. I met up with Sam, Dean, Jen, and Jake there and afterwards all of us + Shannon went to Borders then Chili's. The waiter kept calling Dean "bro" or "brah" which was hilarious. It probably had something to do with his beard.

Yesterday I went to the mall with my mom and then Ally came over and we watched Charlie Wilson's War and read LJ entries of this hipster/scenester from Hauppauge. Ridiculous.

So it's the first day of fall today and I don't like it. I miss the summer! It's getting a little bit cold so that means no more impromptu visits to the beach, no laying out, no shorts. Although fall tends to be my favorite season, it's just sad that the summer is now over. So many good memories and good times this year and I just wish that I didn't have to say goodbye to them yet.

I have so many school events coming up ahhh. I have to go into the city for a taping of the Long Island Challenge with quizbowl, plus there are various Saturday and after school quizbowl events. Also, we're going to the Metropolitan Opera with Italian to see La Traviata and then go to Carmine's after for dinner. Ally and Filippo are going and it should be sooo good. There were only 20 spots so I'm glad that I got to go.

OH! I passed my road test!! This is really exciting because now I can drive to school and to Borders and stuff. Although I don't feel confident enough at all to drive on the LIE, but I'll work up to that.

I think St. James Day is coming up soon, so I'm excited for that.

Wellll I think that's everything. Boitano out!
