Im really into current.tv - especially Vanguard. Its really well done which the shows were longer than 30 minutes most times though.
Had a really fun conversation tonight for over an hour chatting about giant robots, Japan and Japan's obsession with robots. Which reminds me I have a box full of AstroBoy stuff I got sent I need to give away somehow. It included an AstroBoy Wii video game that I'll eventually end up selling or trading for DVDs down the line I am sure.
This Thursday, they are having a Twitter Hunt in Phoenix. I am pretty excited about this. Get to scavenger hunt AND check out some local stores which should be fun.
Excited about catching The Room and Teenage Mother this weekend as well. I love me some Wiseau.

| Things I’m Thinking Tuesday: |
[November 11, 2009 @ 2:16am] |

Originally published at talkhockeytome.com. You can comment here or there. *The whole JS Giguere/Jonas Hiller/potential retirement/not wanting to play backup thing seems so so SO VERY POTENTIALLY SIMILAR to what the Capitals went through with Kolzig. With the important distinction that Giggy does have a Stanley Cup. (Yes, I just went there. Sorry, this is not the Kolzig Fangirl Blog. Much like Nylander, I’m taking a firm Great While He Lasted, Really Nice Guy, So Long And Thanks For All The Fish stance.) For the sake of my continuing to like him, I hope he takes a more mature stance on the whole thing at the end of the season than Kolzig did. Yes, I just went there too.
*Speaking of which, Giggy makes 6 million a season. I KNOW that this is stupid to even say, but DAMN MAN, THAT IS LIKE 27 TIMES WHAT I MAKE IN 12 MONTHS. 27. 27 It’s beating a dead horse, it’s pro sports, and it’s not going to change, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO CALL FOR THAT. Bill Gates, I’m looking at you next. Hiller, you invest that 1 million a season wisely, okay man? Because god only knows, you might wreck one of the EIGHT CARS you can afford with that, or need to decorate your PENTHOUSE APARTMENT….. okay, I’m done, I swear. NOT GOING TO CHANGE, ATHLETES GET PAID TOO MUCH. THE END. MY SOUL HURTS. AUGH.
*It’s really against my MO to despise Hello My Name Is Ray Bourque’s Son Chris as much as I do, I have realized, as I fall in love with Vladimir Hello Let Me Flatten You I’m 5″11′ Sobotka and continue to be amused by Andrew Have You Met The Ice It’s Nice This Time Of Year Gordon. Generally I like the little guys who have the balls to run at the Chara-sized dudes, but despite his flooring of aforementioned giant, BourqueBits has just always rubbed me the wrong way. While it’s not a lack of skill (like Pokulok) or a lack of team play (like Motzko), something about him has always just seemed to act entitled somehow-he doesn’t make a big deal out of the connection to his dad, but he also never seems to be embarrassed by it or try to shut it down in any way by saying “I want to be known for me, not as my dad’s son.”
He also never seems to go out of his way to be an awesome person either. Oskar Osala will give kids his sticks, Eric Fehr tosses pucks into the crowd after warmups, most of the guys will be reasonably accommodating if you’re looking for an autograph, but he’s one of the ones that always seems a little annoyed by it, and doesn’t seem to go out of his way to make a fan connection. Change my mind, BabyBourque, I’m open to it at this point.
*As much as Ted keeps saying the Caps are a bargain he has to step back and look at who the fans are and what kind of money they’re making. This is a town of the REALLY WELL OFF and feel-good non-profit workers. While the REALLY WELL OFF CEO’s may be bringing people to the games and filling the lower levels, $44 in the upper bowl is still a heck of a lot for non-profit workers and baby government employees to be shelling out. As a season ticket holder I’d have been looking at $27ish a game, but as a walk in, $44 is a little painful. I don’t want to go for the “hockey fans may not be in high paying jobs” argument, but there is a blue-collar aspect to the game that pervades even in today’s crowds. Pricing the fans out can’t be good for the team….. see part of my growing malaise with the Caps. Squeeze me for money and make the squeeze obvious, and my grudge starts growing.
And, although the 40-something CEOs may be bringing their offspring, the 20-30 somethings in the baby government jobs, non-profits, and other struggly positions are the next future of the fandom. If you lose them by pricing them out, you’re rebuilding the fandom from nothing as the older folks shuffle off. While the Caps have experience rebuilding a fan base, I can’t believe they’d WANT to do it again. Historic memory, organizations can has?
*Oh yeah, and photo sets from the Blue Jackets (damn, Jared Boll is attractive) and (hi, Clowe!) Sharks are up. I had some from the Flyers, but I had found a really wretched piece of glass to shoot through, so 90% of them are just trash. The only one I’m really in love with is one of the ice….

With that, I bid you good night with promises of less bellyaching next time!

How's this for an absurd situation:
Because of the way scheduling in my school ended up I need 4.5 credits to graduate next semester.
I cannot afford my very very expensive graduate school as it is, but my Financial Aid won't come through unless I have 6 credits.
However, if I take more than the 42 credits needed for my degree my Financial Aid will not pay for the extra.
My school currently charges $3,000 a credit.
...............following so far?
So basically I may have to go to one of the professors teaching one of the classes I'm getting an A in currently and ask them to fail me? Or withdraw from it? So that I can take a class I don't need and don't want to take so that Financial Aid will pay for me to finish my Masters???
Of course the ideal situation would be to get a 3 credit "independent study" and somehow convince the University not to charge me for it XDDDD But my school not super coordinated like that.
We'll see how this goes

So I was browsing through NHL.com this morning when I came across this
Anaheim Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere told the Los Angeles Daily News he would rather retire than be a backup goalie.
Jonas Hiller has started the last six games for the Ducks after Giguere suffered a groin injury on Oct. 24. Should Giguere not be able to unseat Hiller as the top goalie for the Ducks, he made it clear he would like to move on.
"I'd rather retire than be a backup goalie," Giguere said to the L.A. Daily News. "Something needs to happen. You get a guy like (Hiller) that's going to be a free agent at the end of the year and myself, making the money I'm making, either I'm leaving or he's leaving.
"I want to play; that's when I have fun. Right now, this is not fun."
Believe me, I'm not a real Ducks fan, but wow, never thought Jiggy would want to leave Anaheim, after all, they did get him a Cup, but I guess times change

Our local HP group, HP-MA, also hp_ma, has been growing in size and activity, and the week before Halloween, "The Group That Shall Not Be Named" from NY apparated over and joined forces with us for a weekend of haunting about Salem's Haunted Happenings - including taking over some carnival rides - and the HP Exhibition at the Museum of Science, with a Halloween Costume Dance Party thrown in as well. It was nonstop wizarding fun, and here are a few of our photos. We're hoping the high resolution version of one of the group shots will be used for an upcoming HP themed calendar, but I can't wait to get together with TGTSNBN again.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

I just had to share this with you guys, because I'm SO EXCITED!
I'm planning a Crazy Canadian Adventure for my spring break this upcoming March aaaaaaaand I just scored a ticket to the Montreal vs Edmonton game on March 11 (by scored I mean emptied a good chunk of my spending money...). I'M GOING TO SEE THE HABS AT BELL CENTRE!
I'm first and foremost an Atlanta Thrashers fan, but I've got a serious serious soft spot for Montreal. I can't wait for March!

Back, by popular request.... (And that request was made because she knew she'd be it today.)
Today's Smile: Caroline gave me a copy of The Castle of Dr Brain. It was one of my favourite computer games about a billion years ago. (Yes, I sought out educational games for fun, I was a geek-child.) I used to play it three times in a row (on easy, medium and hard) in a sitting. Sometimes more than three. It was such fun to run through it again! Now I want The Island of Dr Brain! I used to play them back to back a lot too.

( Just frusturation, cut for language. ;] )
Regardless, lots of shots for both teams (we outshot, holy crap!) and good saves by both goalies! Andy had an off night for sure (although I'm not going to say he let in any bad shots) and the Bulin wall made some bitching ones! Both teams played really, really well and this really could have gone either way if it wasn't for our insane WTF penalty playing.
I've decided that the Avs have to choke when there is a record at stake. When Andy was about to make some records we got shut out by our former goalie. Tonight when we were going to set a francise record for wins (in a row) at home we lost. Oh Avs, what am I going to do with you? Hahaha.
But I have a question for you guys: Tonight two players- one on each team- took NASTY puck to the face hits. I'm not sure who the Oilers player was, but it looked like he got a puck to the ear and Hannan on our team took one to the face. The announcers were talking about how the NHL has been toying with the idea of making helmet visors mandatory but a lot of players are really against that. One of our players, Cody McLeod, got hit in the eye (I'm not not sure whether it was a stick or puck) and could have easily lost sight in his eye and said goodbye to his career but he's said that after the 3-4 weeks he's required to wear his visor he's going to take it off. You'd think that after that sort of scare he'd take every precaution to not lose an eye but I guess he's too tough. I know NHL players are big boys and can make decisions for themselves, but I think a visor requirement would stop a lot of absolutely needless injuries. I'm not saying they should go to college steeze full masks but I just think visors are a good idea. What are your thoughts?
EDIT: I just found this online and I didn't want to make another post so I'm editing... The man Jonathan Lee Riches (the dude who sits in jail and sues celebrities) sued the New Jersey Devils/ Martin Brodeur in 12/07 and in case you haven't read the text it's very LOL worthy.

WHY AM I SO FAILY LATELY I CAN'T EVEN DEAL.
ALL I WANT TO DO IS GO HOME FOR CHRISTMAS. I want to go home for christmas so badly that that lowes commercial where the mother wanders around showing the daughter the house via webcam then opens the door and she's there makes me bawl. I almost had to pull over, i was crying so hard when an oregon plate went by me on the road today.
I was okay all the way through college because there was always the promise of time off, that at least at christmas I could go home, but now that I've basically been told by the government that I don't matter as a person and that I only get the day of christmas itself off, I have no idea when I'll ever get to go back.
Add to that the fact that I got told tonight that I messed up royally on two fronts and i just sort of want to seceed from humanity and cry for three days straight. It may seem stupid, but when people tell me I've disappointed them or let them down somehow, it just ruins me. I have trouble dealing with people disliking me. I have even more trouble with people disliking me without meeting me first.
let's just leave it at I have trouble.
