| Bio: |  ________ but seriously now: yes, hello, i'm laryssa. i've been keeping this blog rather a long time, and rather a lot has changed. current chapter looks like this. i am in guatemala. i came here on february 5th, 2006 to work in an orphanage in rio dulce, which i am yet to do, though it is next on my list. see, i've gotten a little sidetracked, and i've realized that frolicking about central america for a while on my own would be a pretty cool thing to do. so i didn't get on my plane home on august 5th. i am returning by land, eventually, up through mexico into texas, out west by bus, and then up north back to home in vancouver via those who are cool enough to pick up a hitchhiker. now, since early may, i have been in a small town called lanquin, where i live and work at the fabulous and legendary el retiro lodge. i used to bartend, now i am work the reception and music store. put simply, my life is fucking awesome. this is a beautiful region. i work with some really amazing people, i love my job, i drink lots of free rum, i have a river to swim in a minute's walk from my room. it doesn't end there, but you get the idea. since i've been travelling, i've met a lot of people who have figured out that they have an option outside of the consumer-driven, chase-these-ideals! rat race. i guess i'm one of those people now, and i'm starting to realize how many options are out there. so i'm intent on having a pretty cool life. if you'd like to see how that works out for me, you're in the right place. if there's anything you'd like to know about me, or if you would like to talk about shoes and ships and ceilingwax or othersuch things, feel free to drop me a line or post a comment. xoxo, laryssa [october 13th, 2006] | |||||
