hello lovlies. it's finally spring break & so i have a little more time, around my work schedule, to devote to photoshop. i found a site with caps from the movie closer & so i wanted to do some icons & possibly even like headers of it because i fucking love the movie. also for spring break i wanted to switch around my site a bit & get rid of envision & move it to the actual main site instead of just a subdomain which means a whole new layout. so last night after work i was up til about two working on it & i wanted some opinions on it. so a little feedback would be nice? ( .. . )

ICON MAKER APPRECIATION DAY.

I think sometimes the unsung heroes of Live Journal are the icon makers. These are people who spend hours working on little 100x100 pieces of art that they then put out, at no charge, for everyone else to use.

It's scary sometimes being an icon maker. There's always that fear of rejection. That longing look at your inbox, hoping comments come in and your work was worth something.

Then there's the endless amounts of icon contests now, where you put your work up for judgment by your peers and you're either awarded or, more often (considering the vast amounts of icon makers in these contests) let down.

So I propose a day to concentrate on these people, thank them, whatever you feel like doing.

I propose March 31 be Icon Makers Appreciation Day.

Hopefully on that day, maybe we can go through all the icon communities and leave feedback, even if we're not taking any icons.

Maybe we can post in our journals about the icons we use, who made them, why you picked them, what you think, etc.

Maybe even us Icon Makers can make icons for the other Icon Makers.

I don't know - this is all up to you. But I know a ton of people who make beautiful icons that should be appreciated more than they already are. Not to mention those who take out extra time to run those icon communities or icon contest communities.

I hope you guys think this is a good idea. Spread the word around (you may want to reword it as I'm not feeling especially eloquent today).

March 31. Icon Maker Appreciation Day. Be there or Be 100x100. (Square? Get it? Yep. My humor is off.)

i haven't seen any posts about it but i think it should continue on to this year too??.. .
there are amazing & oh-so-talented artists here on livejournal whom i greatly admire & am inspired by. & i believe they should all be appreciated even just a little more than usual.

hello darlings i hope you've all enjoyed your christmas (&/or whatever other) holidays. i hope you're all safe & in good condition with lots of smiles. with the new year approaching & some changes in my life that i've made i'm hoping to maybe have some more time for the things i love, including photoshop. also with that i intend to make some changes to this journal, cleaning it up a bunch & having a more sensible form of organization. so a new layout will be coming & entires will be organized the way many iconists have them: by sets. i know i'm not a set kinda girl but my inspiration has more than drained & sometimes some shoots by famous people are too spectacular not to capture in art. i've also been thinking of of offering up a lot of resources & creating tutorials, i have been asked by many people as to how i've achieved certain effects. one of the most popular one is that "wet" look that you can see on the happy holidays card, so i'm hoping to make a tutorial for that tonight or in the next couple of days. that is, if you're interested. i'm also going to be switching domains/web sites & reorganizing that as well in the next few weeks. i'm hoping to do it soon but it costs forty five bucks for a new domain so i'm not sure when, just by the ninteenth. anyway, i have a favor to ask all of you who have still kept faith in me, my art, & this journal. since this isn't a paid account i'm going to have to ask you to respond to my inquiries via comments because i can't post a poll. so if you could do that.. . i'd really appreciate it. take care lovlies. xo.
