hello all. well today was a blessed day. today is kirika's first birthday! can you believe it, shes already 1?! it went by so fast. since les and i have to both work this entire weekend her birthday party is next weekend. i'll be sure to post pics. i got a sidejob as a freelance photographer for the local paper, the greenwood commonwealth! i have been doing multiple highschool's football games. its awesome! i have my first "society of greenwood" assignment now which is due for the big beginning of the year issue. im finally getting my foot in the door! our new house is coming along, finally getting everything organize, things on the walls, etc... i took a few shots, so here they are, feedback appreciated!!!

hello friends. a few photos new photos. feedback is always appreciated, i cant improve unless i get it! the first 2 are taken on an enormous nature "highway" that runs from the jackson area to tennessee called the natchez trace parkway. i spent a couple hours shooting and only made it like 15 minutes into the trace, i MUST go back, its gorgeous! the last one is a self portrait that i was using to practice low shutter/light conditions, which is easily my weakest area in photography. it was submitted for an online group im part and the theme was "magic," so i came up with that. enjoy!

yo! its been a while. leslie and i just finished buying our first house and moving in over the weekend. so to say the least, the last month has been very hectic. between work, family and moving ive been swamped. kirika can walk like a champ now, so i took her to the park for some photos... and here they are!

wow, its been a while. to be honest i completely forgot about livejournal, so i guess theres lots to update about! leslie and i are in the process of buying our first house. its a really long and annoying process but we'll see if it goes through! kirika is now a week away from being 10 months, this year has gone by so fast. shes walking good, she just has trouble turning around and getting over obstacles. ive been misssing the heck out of michigan lately, im homesick... but we will be there for sure this spring to visit! paul is coming down for thanksgiving and im super excited about it. ive been watching a lot of new anime on winamp tv lately. its free and always on, i dont know what took me so long to realize how sweet that was, lol. i guess the most interesting development of mine as of late is my abandonment of atheism. of course i wouldnt go and call myself a christian, but there is a lot of growing, reading, learning, asking and maturing going on inside of me and i just let go of everything. i grew up poor on welfare in a single parent family after my abusive father left us. i grew up so angry and upset and just always held onto it in some way. and now, i just dont have anything to be angry about anymore, i just let it go. watching your child being born is the most powerful thing in the world, it just opened me up so much. its a lot to take in and figure out. but aside from the heavy stuff, ive just been living. leslie and i started the dave ramsey financial plan so thats exciting, that guy is amazing. OH YEAH.... I GOT AN ART SHOWING!!! the local museum called me and asked if i was interested in being part of the 2007 lineup! im not exactly sure the date yet but its very very exciting! anwyays, what are you guys all up to, let me know!

a new photo and a conceptual take on the same shot. summers passing is a shot showing the nostalga of summers end that came about from the idea of drain the life, which is just as the title says... fall "draining the life" from summer. its still kind of rough, but ill work on it more later.

i havent shot any new photos in the last couple of days, so i finally got around to redoing the first photo i ever worked on in photoshop. when i created sumaltra a while back i had no idea how i did what i did, lol, it kinda came across by accident, so i never knew how to restart and redefine what i did. now that i have a better handle on my photo editing i went back and am now happy with the final results. the original is posted somewhere much earlier in my journal if you want to compare.

yo! i put in 3 applications so far this week with ambulance based companies and 1 as an emergency department technician at the delta regional ER. i would actually like to get the ER job, cause that would be like a dream come true... all that time spent watching trauma:life in the ER on TLC and now i'd be doing what i was so amazed by! anywho, life in MS is going well. leslie and i are great, and kirika is doing terrific. she crawled up two stairs to get to me yesterday all by herself, i am so proud of her! lately ive been tinkering around with subtle photomanipulation... not the dreamscape or escher-esque stuff... more like a pop art style of manipulation. heres one i was messing with...
yes, thats you miss.jenna cook! a looooooooong time ago at dennys! ( see full version of the pic here ) well im off to work, hope all is well with everyone, later!

so i finally got around to writing more poetry! hehe, it feels good to get a few poems out! its been a while, but heres a new one.
spectacle
a hammer to the head and they're on their knees again belly up to the beast like the sons of the country marching bravely blind to fight our fathers wars our mothers propaganda is murderous a coalescence of the poisoned and the proud of the segregates and the hateful the maternal wars devastate all the same as the bleeding skies the cameras marvel silence the opposition! silence the rationale! all the while, silence the homeland with all coherency lost the hands of the righteous will not clean we are the spectacle and when patriotism and ignorance come one in the same it's time that we reevaluate our stand
