Character Profile

Name: Wilhelmina 'Mina' Harker

Age: 32

From: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the movie, slightly from the book Dracula, and my own twists.

Occupation: Mina owns her own apothecary/chemist shop as well as a nice opium den under her legitimate business.

Description: Long brown hair, blue eyes, 5'9"; wears a black velvet coat, red scarf, white blouse, black skirt, black heeled boots; she has two puncture marks on the right side of her throat.

Brief History: Mina grew up in Whitby with her friend Lucy Westenra, whose family took Mina in when the Murray's died from influenza when she was 9. She was sent to school in London where she eventually met the bank clerk Jonathan Harker and at the age of 19 she married him and opened a respectable chemist shop.

During the year between 19 and 20, Mina fought an evil creature named Dracula. He had been a client of Jonathan's looking to move to England but was instead a vampire, bent on world domination and the furthering of the vampiric race, who ended up murdering Lucy before turning on Mina. An occultist-friend of Jonathan's named Abraham Van Helsing--who had joined the Harkers on the search--got Mina back to London, but both Dracula and Jonathan were dead, or so Van Helsing said, and Mina was still infected with Dracula's disease of vampirism.

After spending a year with Van Helsing--who had experience in the area of vampires and helped Mina learn to control the demons inside herself-- Mina reopened her shop and tried to live as normal a life as she could. After having a few of Van Helsing's friends drop in on her Mina decided to open her own opium den in the basement of her shop--for economical and selfish reasons, as it opened up a new vein of unaware blood donors for her. It was in her shop, many years later, where Moriarty came and asked her to join his League or risk having her secret told. She grudgingly agreed.

Personality: She is calm and collected for the most part but is not above biting sarcasm and uses it extensively. She is quite interested with the scientific and considers herself a sort of 'nerd'/ removed from femine society. Not a weakling by any stretch. She prefers to take care of herself, as sweetness and chivalry are jokes to her now.

Skills: She is a vampire but does not need blood to survive, though it does help control her inner demons. She can go about in daylight. Her blood has life restoring properties. She will heal before your eyes and religious objects do not hurt her. She is a chemist by trade and therefore has knowledge of chemical properties and narcotic use.

Weaknesses: Mina blood lust is just below the surface of her calm demeanor. She struggles with this part of herself and will prefer to free her basic urges through sex instead of bloodletting or killing another human. She can be destroyed through beheading, or being staked, and lit on fire.
