i just found out that i am the "employee of the month" at work
i didn't think this was especially amazing at first, since i already knew how insanely hard i work

but then i found out what being employee of the month means:

an american express gift card (of an undetermined amount, so far)
a paid day off
a parking space that is apparently much closer to the building?

and...

FUCKING FREE TRIP TO LAS VEGAS
three days, two nights
what the fuck! (we're nonprofit, i don't know how they do this shit!)

and, of course, i've earned the respect of everyone who had no idea what the hell i do in that cubicle all day.

it's all in a day's -- er, year and a half's -- work.

man, i had such a good time last night
(i'm sure everyone who came could tell)

i remember having some really good steak
and a slapping fight with jon
and dancing in the living room with tina
and fireworks are really just microsoft paint in the sky
and the mountain caught on fire
and if life gives you sassafras, make root beer
and alaska made the most AMAZING brie with apricots and crackers
and jorge came!
and "property of derek" written on a box of newcastle (a rule i certainly didn't follow)

and the spirits are restless!
and it's all good, man

my phrase of the night, apparently, was

it made me so happy to see so many friends

we turned in our rental applications yesterday.
the lady is really nice, i guess she just owns a bunch of houses downtown and rents them out.

i've been going crazy ever since yesterday. when will we know? when should we call her? what if we don't get the place?
we've already decided which room will be ours and where the liquor will go.

that house hasn't left my mind all week. i even dreamed about it.

today at work i played catch with a little ball in the office with my boss for about ten minutes (on the clock).

also, my sister is getting married this weekend if i didn't mention it earlier... and i'm the maid of honor? and paul will be playing the keys.
the dress i bought for the wedding cost me seventeen dollars.

i still haven't found a decent pair of shoes!

also, alison, your kitten (which we've named ed chigliak) is starting to eat normal food! i would give him another week or two and he'll be all set. hooray!
