I have new respect for Trent Reznor and I wish I had made more of an effort to go to last weekends concert.
Quoted from the nin web site, "nine inch nails will not be performing at the mtv movie awards as previously announced. we were set to perform "the hand that feeds" with an unmolested straightforward image of george w bush as the backdrop. apparently the image of our president is as offensive to mtv as it is to me. see you on tour this fall when we return to play in america. trent reznor 5_26_2005"

vnv was awesome. The show lasted until 11:53 (well, that's what time it was when I glanced at the radio in my car on the way home.)
Soman opened. He's one of the keyboardists from vnv. (officially "back-up" I guess.) Euro-EBM, so of course I was digging it.
Imperative Reaction was great. I've only heard one song of theirs that I know of, but they put on a great show even considering the computer got unplugged and the music just stopped (except the drums.) The singer said, "The bad part about being an industrial band." They got it rebooted quickly and he talked and joked while waiting so it wasn't bad.
vnv nation was great. He talked and kept the audience involved. Lotta good energy. hehe. At one point though there were some guys moshing and he stopped singing and told them to stop or they would quit playing. He said if they want to mosh go see Korn. Was kinda funny, but hell, I'm too old to get into pits anymore anyway so I don't care.
The bad? During IR some girl behind me kept spilling her beer on my feet. But wait, it gets better. That wasn't good enough for her I guess because she started spraying out a mouthful of beer on everyone in front of her (I think I got most of it.) She wasn't spitting it ON us, but misting it over our heads so it rained beer on us. She did it once and I figured she was done. She did it a second time and I looked back at her annoyed. Did she get the hint? No. A third time and I turned around and told her that was enough of that. She stopped after that. I musta used "dad" voice. LOL. The guy beside me thanked me. At about the middle of vnv some asshole came and tried to push me out of the way. I told him hell no and planted myself. He said to me "I want to be here too and I am going to be so just move over." He tells me I "need to take a chill pill" and that I needed to relax because it's just a rock concert. What a fucking asshole. If it's not a big deal then he coulda stayed behind me. Fuck him, I wasn't moving. The guy beside me whom I thought would back me up gave in and let him in their space. So now I had a tall drunk fucker bumping into me and shouting stuff. He was all fan-boy and knew their names and knew the songs, but that doesn't give him right to push people out of his way.
Ahh well, it was still a good show. Minus a few jerks it would have been better, but the bands were great.
