So... now I'm looking for a new laptop for myself. (The book I got for Dad was actually David Sedaris' When You Are Engulfed In Flames, I think he liked it but who can tell with him? =P)
I've heard some things. CNet is recommending Gateway- but fuck Gateway! Eeeaacch. So here's what I'm thinking.
This may be weird, but the thing I currently despise most about my computer, besides it having serious issues with its hardware and liking to not work, is how loud it is! I have to hit it in order to get the fan to shut up. It is constantly overheating and crazy. (Ah that reminds me, I should ask Nate about this too...) So a quiet computer is a must.
Not enormous or heavy- 12~15 inches tops
gaming capability of a good (I.E. processing power, great deal of memory too- I carry all my photos, and all of my music, and all of my writing ever on here, what can I say?)
A history of good working ness. My compy has issues, and I kind of knew that beforehand thanks to reviews, but I thought it might just be lame people. I was wrong. And not only that I got a lemon tablet pc that stopped working as a tablet pc quite quickly- three weeks or three months, I can't hardly remember. Anyway.
Not so important
Decent speakers. It's kind of annoying when I'm traveling and can't hardly play music for crappy sound.
CD burning capabilities. DVD would be nice too but yaknow.
Almost unnecessary, but would be cool
Webcam? Okay, now remember, I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A MAC so shut up before you even type it.
Media card slot is cool because I like just plugging in SD cards or whatever from my camera.
So, um, thoughts? Also I don't want to go with Toshiba again, or a tablet pc, because I've been down those roads. I have a wacom tablet at this point anyway because this computer has been so consistently crappy so it'd be kind of redundant.
Love,
~K
edit: OOH! A numpad might be cool to have again too. But I can always get an extra one so whatever =P
