It's considerably worse than the ice storm of 1998, at least in my part of New Boston. My Dad, my brother, Seamus and I have escaped to the Comfort Inn in Manchester. My mother has stubbornly refused to come with us and stayed at our house, which currently looks like it was hit by an ice covered bomb. All of Joe English rd looked really bad, as did Meeting House Hill rd, but the River Road onwards looked perfectly fine, a few tree branches here and there, but nothing too bad.
Unfortunately we got hit really hard. Seriously, I have never seen it as bad as it is right now. We have huge tree limbs down all over the place, the yard, the driveway, the road. My dad, brother, and I were out there this morning hauling huge pieces of ice covered wood all over the place to make sure we could get my car out. As it was we still had to drive through tree branches and bent over trees just to get down the driveway. Tree limbs were still falling as we left and ice was crashing down all over the place, I was almost taken out by falling ice and tree twice in the span of about an hour. In addition to all of this mess, the main power lines along the road in front of our house are covered in tree branches, most of which are compressing the lines together. Also, the power lines from the main lines up to our house have somehow been ripped out and are currently lying on the ground in my front yard. This probably means that we're not going to have power for a week or so, which really really sucks. Currently my family and pets are all safe; if you need to reach me, I am available by cell phone and e-mail (thanks to free hotel wireless internet). I hope everyone else in the surrounding area are ok. I also hope this mess can get cleaned up a lot faster than I think it will.
